Do they have any links with Ghana? Suhum and Fante areas to be precise? I am trying to see if there's any way to trace long lost distant relatives I that area.

Those who were more inclined to settling in Ghana in the past are Ogbomoso, some Oyo North and Offa people.

Nothing special. Many Ejigbo people have dual citizenship. Ivory Coast languages and French are freely spoken in their town just as Ghanaian languages used to be popular in Ogbomoso.

Rice pyramid in the face of herders and terrorists?

There'll be massive production once insecurity is tackled and sorted out permanently.

MrProlific95:
All these protest against Tinubu are sponsored by northern politicians, what do they stand to gain?

In my honest opinion, they stand to gain nothing and they cannot bring Tinubu government down.

It is possible but the truth is that life is very hard now for the average Nigerian.

Ketamine9000mg:
In today's Nigeria's situation, can someone manage 1.5million for a wedding?

Yes, if you do court wedding with very few guests and the Bride's family don't demand much in terms of bride price, items to buy and a big traditional ceremony.
Politics / Re: Tinubu Orders Release Of Food Reserves To Boost Availability by delpee(f): 4:48pm On Feb 09
Let's see how far that goes in making things better but it's not a long term solution. People are being driven away by herders so they can feed their cows or being made to pay terrorists heavily to access their farms. Also the cost of transportation is outrageous.

The most important thing is to tackle insecurity first and support farmers in every way possible...road infrastructure, well planned farm settlements like in the Awolowo era, subsidy for or provision of modern farming equipment etc

Where possible, the rail network should restart cargo operations at a reasonable cost. The overdependence on trailers is a problem.
Crime / Re: Baby Factory Busted In Anambra, Five Pregnant Girls Rescued by delpee(f): 11:31am On Feb 08
Ha! This is terrible. The girls are definitely from poor homes just being used for commercial purposes. They'll probably get a token for their 9months labor but this isn't fair. Legal adoption or surrogacy is ideal for those who want babies. These other crooked methods including the stealing of other people's children and justifying it is absolutely inhuman.

Sports / Re: AFCON: "Oil Too Full Ijaya Head" - CAF Hails Osimhen by delpee(f): 10:27am On Feb 08
Total respect to Osimhen for playing his role well. He didn't focus on goal scoring which would have been a major distraction with bad results. He was a waymaker for others to score.

Kudos to our keeper Nwabali.

God bless our Super Eagles much more.

For those of you that don't understand English, the man said they have sold your crude oil in advance and pocketed the money, and aso you people should exercise patience and remain hungry for the next six months, or six years cheesy

My advice to you is to buy a small bowl, relocate to your street junction and start begging, as the state governor is passing with other politicians, they will be dropping change money for you to chop.

Funny but e never reach that level. grin grin

It seems the last administration tied some loans to supply of crude for a period of time. Good deal for the creditors if equivalent cost is calculated at the old price. A big loss for us if so.

That's what happens when you prioritise amnesty and rehabilitation for criminals and leave our soldiers to suffer extreme physical and mental stress. The enemy keeps coming back refreshed and the war never ends.
When there's no punishment, criminals thrive and make life more difficult for law enforcers.

I remember that some soldiers were complaining at a time about serving at the battle front for longer periods than necessary. Seems they were supposed to be on duty by rotation. That and regular health checks should make a difference.

Peaceful rest to the unfortunate soldiers.

Gov. Sanwoolu was there some months ago speaking to them in English and Yoruba on the need for them to relocate. He told them that he doesn't want to hear stories that touch. The video is online. Clear them today, they're back tomorrow. Build a fence, they'll break it somewhere. It's up to them and their families if they choose to risk their lives.

Politics / Re: How Villagers Hid Guns After We Killed Terrorists – Defence Chief by delpee(f): 5:16pm On Feb 04
matify83:
For those doubting the credibility of the CDS , let me paint you this scenerio.

It is undisputable to every one that the Nigeria army now fly drones isn't it?

The army on several occasions have intercepted and neutralized terrorists and bandits using these drones but before ground troops get to the area of rendezvous , only burnt out carcases of terrorists without their weapons would be met.
In some instances, they even go with their dead.

Another scenario is when surveillance planes give the coordinates of terrorists and bandits hideout and the artillery unit is called into action.
The forward ground troop meet the same situation ( bodies without weapons).

Well understood now. Thanks.
It means some of the terrorists have mingled with the villagers or some villagers are complicit.

I wish we could all decide to drastically reduce our taste for foreign goods.

Imported drinks, designer wear, luxurious cars, furniture, cosmetics, even toothpicks all require loads of forex. The truth is that if we concentrate our focus on patronising local producers more, they'll improve over time and we'll save more forex. Reno Omokri may sometimes sound like town crier, but he said as much. When given a deep thought, it's obvious that he's right.

Politics / Re: Operators In The Mining Sector Owe FG Over ₦‎2 Trillion - Dele Alake by delpee(f): 12:16pm On Feb 02
How can you be in Abuja and hope to effectively monitor every community where mining takes place? All that will happen is that the supervisory staff posted there will become Lords of the territories, accountable to themselves and others involved in the process. Whereas if the community is actively involved and they derive significant benefits, we'll get better results.

It seems that the only thing that will make mining more impactful for the government and the people is devolution of power. What we had in the first Republic is what is best for our nation.

Politics / Re: Sanwo-olu: Red Line Rail Project Is Set For Commissioning by delpee(f): 10:52pm On Feb 01
Splashme:

For the records, Sanwo-Olu did not build any rail line called "Red Line"

Nigerian politicians can be so deceptive. The cunning man simply picked the portion of the FG's funded (Lagos - Ibadan) rail line that falls inside Lagos territory and nicknamed it "Red Line"

The so-called "Red Line" starting from Agbado - Agege - Ikeja - Oshodi - Yaba/Oyigbo is a part of the larger federal govt owned Lagos - Ibadan railway project that falls under Lagos territory.

Sanwo-Olu should explain it this way to Lagosians, he won't die. All the governor is doing to procure the train coaches
.

LASG made use of the corridor but laid additional tracks. How are they going to share a track all through with the FG trains when they plan a longer distance and will move more frequently? Remember that a track also leads to the airport area. This was non existent before.

They've also built stations all along the route. The new flyovers are additional infrastructure to make it easier for the trains (including FG trains) to pass with minimal interaction with human and vehicular traffic.

Let's praise when it's deserved and criticise constructively when things are not done right.

Unfortunately, the Court's restraining order makes it difficult for him to disclose the name of the religious sect. That could be seen as contempt. Our judiciary amazes at times.

At least we now know it's a thriving enterprise with big wigs at the background. That answers Shehu Sani's question of why the foot soldiers always look wretched.

Family / Re: Don't Let Your Daughter Be Too Close To Their Pastor- Journalist Advises Mothers by delpee(f): 9:17am On Jan 31
Not only Pastors. Also Alfas and Imams. I've heard some stories from that side too. I remember the story of a friends niece who absconded with her Quranic teacher at 16! It was claimed that she was hypnotised though. She had been dropped at the Campus by her parents only for them to find out that she was missing from school a month later. It was in the 90s so there was no mobile phone.

Alfa was praying for the family while their daughter was with him. undecided Anyway, security agencies stepped into the matter and she was found months later.

The Oriyomi Hamzat channel shows that human beings are who they primarily are irrespective of faith. Religion often provides a cover for criminally minded people to gain the trust of the innocent and naive.

Kano that they divorce anyhow.

Seen a woman married 9 times. Seen a man married 30 times.

That's not the record. There are worse out there.

Seen 2 fairly young guys with 20 + children each.

Truly divorce and remarriage is so common there. He was probably depressed based on other issues too.
