You have an MBA with some good experience and you are looking to start all over again in nursing. Are you kidding me? Please slap yourself back to reality. There's nothing wrong with relocating to another city/state/country. You should be looking at advancing your career. I hope nobody is drumming that "nurses make alot of money" crap into your brain. While they do, you put in lots of hours with little/no life. At your age and with your degree and experience, you are positioned to conquer your world. |

Serpentine:This is it. The dude has a legal wife somewhere and he is keeping the kid a "secret" not to screw his marriage up. If he is really shuttling between the UK and Nigeria, then he has the means to support his kid. Perhaps, it is a situation where the legal wife is functioning as his "papers", which he eventually hopes that when the deed is done, he'd swing over. Regardless, he should be upfront and transparent about what is going thru his head. Just like everyone else has said on this thread, moveon.org; no two way about it. A real man cares about his kids; I'm sure you want a real life, not a loafer who is just talk. At some point, you have to put your foot down and make the rules! |

Go ahead, do your medicals and send the required documents. Did you state in your original application that you had a sponsor or did you state you were sponsoring yourself? chizquare: |

bashtee:I'm sorry I do not know your application specifics. However, delays do not necessarily mean a negative decision. However, they could cause one. In your case, if they were going to give you the study visa, they could actually deny you simply because Aug 2 is no longer feasible. What I'd advice you to do is to ask the institution for a deferred date of resumption and take the letter/email with you to the CDHC. Insist you want to speak with somebody in the office, not the gateman. P.S. Which institution/program has two dates (Aug and Sept)? |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by Delta007(m): 6:48pm On Jul 12, 2011 |

Rare:This is absolutely not true. With the required documents, a "visitor" can apply for a study permit thru Buffalo. The visitor will have to undergo medicals and when granted, he/she will flagpole to get his study visa. I have gone this route for a few of my clients and it is absolutely legal. |

debosky:Chief, how far? Long time. Good comments; however, 6 months stay is quite the norm; the shorter stays are the exceptions. It does not matter the Visa expiration. I've seen individuals given very short stays on a 1-2 yr visa and I've seen other individuals given 6mths (max) on a 1 month visa. My additional response to "akinson" will be along the lines of legalizing his stay if he comes in on a visitor's visa. If his intent is to stay more permanently, I'd advice him to apply to a few institutions so that he can convert his visitor's visa to a study permit. This way, he does not run out of status and he "prepares" himself for the job market. Quite frankly, I do not think it is worth it to risk your future to work for peanuts with no end in sight. |

akinson77:1. Life is what you make of it, whether you are on a Visitor's visa or you are a citizen. Your stay in Canada depends on your intent. 2. It is a crime to work without the right papers. You will not be able to get a Social insurance number; so no employer will pay you unless you decide to go a crooked route for low-end jobs. I dunno if it's worth it; I doubt it. What are you aiming to achieve? $10/hr for how long? 3. The federal govt is responsible for immigration policies regardless of the city/state you intend to "visit". 4. BTA? What's that? 5. You are correct. Several variables and it depends on the border officer. Have your return ticket, hotel/residential address and intent of your visit very handy. P.S. If I knew your intent, I may be able to give better answers. Goodluck with your trip! |

newacca:Dude, I believe someone has already told you that July 25th is not feasible if you were successful with your interview. You should ask the institution to mail you a new letter showing that your admission has been deferred and send that letter to CDHC asap. Infact, that is what you should have done when you went in for the interview. It takes 3wks to get the medicals sorted, so even if you did your medicals today, it aint gonna happen. Western institutions are not like Nigeria that you can resume one month after official school resumption. My 2 cents for whatever is worth! |

vkings:On the one hand, the fact that you returned from the UK after your Masters program counts for you. However, you'd have to explain why you need a second Master's program. I'd advice you include a letter in your application to buttress your point(s). Since I'm not in the VO's head, I cannot say for sure if you are going to be granted; it can go either way. I'd think you have a better shot at obtaining a Visa for a PhD because it shows a progression in your education. It's another one month before Fall semester starts; most people are on vacations between May and August. You may be better of shooting for the Fall of 2012 and begin/resume your contact this Fall (2011) so that by January, you got everything wrapped up. Email and Phone are your only options unless you have someone in some particular institution that can meet the Professor on your behalf. Goodluck!! |

@Laajman, I know this was directed at Ayo. I do not know if he has answered your question; If he has, you may ignore my comments: Are you applying for your spouse inland or outland? - Your spouse needs to do a medical test before you apply. You'd include a copy of the receipt in the application; Yes, it will be returned if incomplete! - Your spouse has to apply with the name that appears on her passport; in this case, her maiden name. It's not a big deal since your marriage certificate is consistent. You can change the name through Nigerian immigration. My advice to you is to either change the name now before you put in the application or change it after the application has been approved and your spouse has landed. Do not change the name in the middle of the application because you'd only delay the process. Goodluck! |

Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by Delta007(m): 2:33pm On Jul 06, 2011 |
debosky:Depending on what the VO is looking for, it could be that strict and it has been this way for eons. In this case, it's obvious that the VO was trying to find out if the applicant knew anything about accounting and the ACCA program. She also had some issues with sponsorship. Some points to note from his post: - If you are working for yourself or your family (basically doing "buy and sell", you do not not need a certification. Why apply? - If you want a certification to work for yourself just because you want to increase your knowledge (which is a good thing), ICAN is more than adequate. Why spend extra and risk your already thriving business to pursue a certification in Canada, where it is not recognised? I do not think he did a good job trying to convince the VO on these two points amongst others. No offence, but I also thought his definition of marketing and responses on his final project were quite elementary for a grad student trying to get an accounting designation. This is in no way an indictment of the applicant's knowledge. On the other hand, I think the applicant has done well for himself and put in a very strong application to get an interview which could go 50/50. However, I think that folks going for these interviews should learn to anticipate questions and understand what the interviewer is driving at so that they are able to give more "appropriate" responses. I sincerely hope in this case the applicant gets approved. Just my two cents! |

Romance / Re: What's Wrong With Marrying An Older Woman? by Delta007(m): 1:42pm On Jun 03, 2011 |
I have nothing wrong with someone older; 8 years is quite a stretch though. However, I'd be more inclined to find out why she was still single at 33/34 if she is the next thing to sliced bread. Dating and marriage are two entirely different ball games; While dating, both partners front their best. During marriage, you get the whole package and even more. Methinks you are not being real with yourself; seek answers to the more critical questions and try not to get bamboozled by the "sweetness" while sweeping important details under the umbrella of the age factor. |

freelance:HIV, Syphilis, TB, Eye test and your general medical background/condition. Canada has a "free" healthcare system supported by taxpayers. Thus, if your medical situation is deemed as one that would put burden on the system, you could be turned down. In some cases, if the applicant proves that he/she has enough resources, the applicant may be given a pass with conditions. |

You are better of trying for a visitor's visa than a study permit to study english in Canada. Official language in Nigeria is English and any consul will easily see what you are trying to do. If you cannot get admission directly from Nigeria, maybe you should consider other options. Truth is, if you do not bring any tangible skills to the table, it's not worth it living in the West. That's just my opinion. subzeroamd: |
