Christianity Etc › Re: Why Gen Z Is Becoming Less Religious? by denisbid: 10:50am On Aug 03, 2025 |
Fox12: Gen Z & Religion: What's Really Going On?
Gen Z is the most connected generation yet spiritually, many feel disconnected. More and more young people are saying: "I’m not religious." But why?
Let’s unpack it ;
1. Church Hurt & Hypocrisy Gen Z questions what doesn’t align. When leaders preach love but practice judgment, they bounce. They're not leaving God,they're leaving the noise.
2. Information Overload Gen Z grew up Googling everything. They’ve seen different beliefs side-by-side and they ask deeper questions. Blind faith doesn’t work for a generation raised to research.
3. Mental Health Matters They care about emotional safety. If a religious space triggers shame more than healing, they won’t stay. They want faith that listens, not just lectures.
4. Authenticity Over Tradition Gen Z doesn’t care about appearances, they crave realness. If faith feels scripted or outdated, they’d rather pass.
5. Spiritual but Not Religious Many aren’t atheist, they just don’t vibe with the labels. They pray. They believe. But they want a personal relationship, not just performance.
So is Gen Z faithless? No. They’re just tired of performative religion. They’re seeking real connection with God, with meaning, with truth.
Maybe the church doesn’t need to be louder. Maybe it needs to be more honest. More human. More healing.
What’s your take? Is Gen Z really unreligious or just reshaping what faith looks like? This is were the likes of paxonel belong |

Crime › A Legal Advice For A Citizen Molested By A Vigilante With A Dagger by denisbid(op): 10:10pm On Nov 28, 2024 |
I'm writing this unbehalf of the victim. Any lawyer in the house?
I am in need for a legal advice against a wealthy vigilante officer who had used arms given to him by the police force to molest and threaten me. I was employed by this said security officer last two months ago precisely September this year as his shop attendant. A woman i know had introduced me and recommended me to him. He sells tokumbo smart tv and other home appliances including power banks. I accepted to be collecting N25,000 on monthly basis, though temporarily, since i had nothing doing at the time, so i didn't want to stay at home doing nothing. But never had he taken stock of all the products in his shop to inform me the numbers. So i didn't know the exact number of all the products in the shop, yet i was selling for him up to one week. Then, on the second week of my selling, he started saying things like two of his power banks were missing, one of which cost N25,000. Then it occurred to me that i was selling for him at my own risk, that he will certainly use this missing power banks story as an excuse not to pay me the N25,000 we have agreed on at the end of the month. So i decided to quit the job immediately. I called him the following day to inform him that i have resigned. But guess what? He started insulting me on phone and accusing me of stealing his power banks. So i quietly tell him to call the woman that introduced me to him, and inform her that i stole his power banks, then i cut the call. I never heard from him again. When i met the woman she told me that even before i came he has been complaining to other of his employees that his power banks were missing.
Two months later, i arrived home from my new job only for this same man to double cross me with his car at my gate, comes out the car and starts punching me on my face, saying where are my power banks. He even brought out dagger to threaten that he was going to stab me. With my swollen face i have to report the matter to the nearest police station. The DPO ask me to pay N10,000 to make case against him and they will report him to his vigilante cadet commandant for taking laws into his hands and using arms and dagger meant for securing the community as a vigilante, to molest, harrass and threaten a citizen. But as it stands right now, i don't have N10,000 to make the case.
Please what do i do? Is is possible to get a lawyer who is willing to provide justice in a minor case like this for free, and get him warned so that he will not repeat what he has done to other people? |

It seems that, most of these supporters of this current administration and it bad governance are really mindful of preventing a peaceful protest happening in Lagos and western states where they usually unleash mc agberos to hijack peaceful protests. What if as the hunger is so harsh in the north, youths begins the protest there, how is Lagos going to curtail it?
You cannot always eat your cake and have it. Good governance is the only key to a stable society. |

Salewa97: This just shows how Tinubu has always been a man of the people.
Back then, he knew how to mobilize and inspire without letting the Agberos take over.
That kind of leadership is rare these days.
People need to remember that Tinubu’s vision has always been clear and focused.
While others are busy playing politics, he’s been setting the pace. Setting mumu pace of announcing removal of subsidy without alternative remedy to curtail the after effects to the economy. |

When Tinubu led protest in 2012 no Agbero hijacked the process. But during endsars Tinubu with the help of that stupid Mc Oluomo dispatched touts to cause destruction of public facilities in Lagos all to discredit the protest. No wahalla, They started what they cannot finish. They sow a bad seed into a constitutional peaceful means of public voice against police brutality / bad governance.
Because, nothing can stop a peaceful constitutional protest against bad governance especially in Democracy, we will protest peacefully against this hunger and deteriorated economy.
And if they still want to hijack the process to cause mayhem to public facilities let them do it. We are not going to back down, we will still carry out our constitutional right even if it will take destruction |

paxonel: You must understand that certain descriptions used in the bible was meant for people in that era to understand, not for people of today anymore. for the case of Stephen, his description of what he saw did not tally with reality, that was why they stoned him angrily On the Lord's day This means, it was as of he died and later came back to life.
Remember, i have been saying on this thread that our death marks the day of judgement, which is the day of the Lord.
He says behold i come quickly. It is appointed once for men to die... Hmm! You have a way of adding these things up. But certainly these are your assumptions |

Fineman2: My name is Dora.
I am 35 years old and everybody keeps reminding me that age is no longer on my side.
My fiance and I have been dating for more than one year and we are getting married soon.
My fiance is 40 years old and he has never been married.
The relationship was really good when we started but now that our wedding is in a few weeks time, he has shown how controlling he can be.
From the choice of the wedding dress, to the bridesmaids selection, to the colour of the day, he wants to be in charge.
He also wants his mum to buy the cloth for our engagement as well as buy our wedding ring.
He does whatever his family says without seeking my opinion and it almost seems as if I am not the one getting married.
I told my parents about how this makes me feel and they just asked me to endure because I am getting older but I really fear for what is going to happen after the wedding.
Are these not red flags I should run from?
I am confused, please advise me. Mrs Dora or whatever That man na red flag you already know it, so it's left for you to continue with the marriage. If you choose to continue with the marriage whatever happens later in life na your choice. But let it not be because you are 35 years old that's why you want hurry into marriage with the wrong person, marriage was suppose to be a thing of happiness for both of you. As much as he has the right to take certain decisions you should also have your right to decline certain decisions. Don't allow anyone to impose their opinions on you simply because you are 35 and you want to get married, not even from your husband |

Christianity Etc › Re: Has Jesus Christ Come Or Is He Coming Back Again? by denisbid: 6:33am On Aug 07, 2021 |
paxonel: Currently, is Jesus Christ with us or he is not with us and he is coming back again?
Very important question to ask:
To some Christians like Righteousness2 and his his likes, this might appear as a huge puzzle for them to understand Afterall, even Jesus parables were like puzzles for the scribes and Pharisees to understand and people hate what they don't understand, it's natural
That's why i say this bible is not for feeble minds, it is for intellects. But unfortunately, feeble minds are the ones preaching it in Nigeria so feeble citizens are produced.
now, here is prophet Isaiah telling the Jews of the old testament what will happen in their future, that the Messiah was coming
Isaiah 6:9 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
After the fulfillment of this prophecy in the new testament the Messiah came and he was among the Jews as a new born baby, and isaiah's prophecy was made reference to :
Matthew 2:6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
But many of the Jews who were expecting his coming including the scribes and the Pharisees did not believe that the Messiah has come in their midst : They saw Jesus they didn't know he was the Messiah so they were not ready to receive him. Even some Jesus disciples were not ready too, hence this is what Jesus told them
Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready(that his disciples should also ready: not today Christians o,please take note): for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Because we foolishly and always made that mistake assuming that Jesus is also talking to us today Christians that we should be ready because we are also his disciple, it does not follow.
Now the issue is, Christians of today read this Matthew 24:44 and in our minds we think that Jesus was talking about his second coming in a way of rapture and end of the world
Do you know that we are very confused people, today Christians especially Africans?
Now, I go back to the question again, HAS JESUS CHRIST COME OR IS HE COMING BACK AGAIN?
Going by the prophecy of Isaiah above the answer is, Jesus has already come and he is currently with us in the spirit (Emmanuel which literally interpretes GOD WITH US) so he is not coming back again.
However, the day you die he has come for you, that is his second coming(Acts1:11), after that life continues without you. He will surely wait till you die, you will meet him in the spirit:
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment
And in that judgement this is what will happen and it will happen so fast within the twinkling of the eye
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
So we have all the liberty to be productive while we are alive : If you are trader or Engineer or Doctor or Farmer or whatever profession God has blessed you with, focus on it and do it perfectly without any fear of the unknown.
You will never see Jesus coming physically in the sky and Angels blowing trumpets like whaaaat? Imagine the primitivity of religious mystical beliefs op, part of the things Jesus requested from his followers is for them to love their neighbours as themselves and give to the poor, that is how people will know who Jesus followers are. But having a profession you emphasize on sn't part of Jesus teachings to his disciples |
