I SAY THIS, CARS45 are scam and dishonest. i wanted buying a c class and called kingreign but he was busy so i left akwa ibom to lagos with my mechanic, we saw an ad of a 2005 c230 kompressor and called its seller who took us to their ikeja office adjacent mobil station. saw the car, my mechanic wasn't able to scan or drive it reasons known to the cars45 staff who wore their id card. the car was clean inside out we asked for papers they said the paper was avialable and after payment we were given the document which i didnt check due to my being late. we started driving and towards berger ojodu its engine knocked. we towed it to ladipo got new engine only for the mechanic to tell me they brought that same car to him and he adviced them to replace the engine and gearbox as the gear stops selecting when its hot. long and short i replaced both engine and transmission. only to discover they only gave me some copies of the car papers and not all. i spent 480k to put that car and its document back in shape.
Did you read the inspection reports?

The ladipo mechanic advised to change engine and transmission because transmission stops working when hot? Can you see the logic the mechanic used? Read that part slowly please.

You were in a hurry and could not read the documents given to you (which also contains a hardcopy of the inspection report). You left akwa ibom to come buy a car in Lagos but suddenly you were in so much of an hurry that you could not spend 10 minutes to go through a report and discuss same with your mechanic.

You even had a plan of driving a used car you had no history with all the way to akwa ibom from Lagos just few minutes after purchase. What preventive maintenance did you or your mechanic perform before the journey? What caused the engine failure?

Can you itemise what you spent the 480k on (cost of complete engine and transmission in ladipo is not up to that)

Denn, leave all these holy sinparty crew. They shout fraud all the time and they have nothing to say than to hurl insults at themselves. There is not one single initiative from them. They are the spots without water, not afraid to speak evil against dignitaries but internet never forgets. They left their reasoning caps elsewhere and decide to spew insults. When someone does not have any superior talk to counter an opinion, they resort to abuses. An escape route that exposes their cowardice. I went to cars45 yard yesterday and I saw the warning all over. Cars45 don' sell cars but they sell through registered dealers. No refund after purchase. Bring your mechanic along. The girl has not revealed the name of the dealer to date, the car report she was given, the expert she took along that has only the ability to drive. Yet they are crying ripped off along with the praise singers with no proof. Name the dealer and show the report, no way. Autojosh took time and did what no one shouting fraud could ever do, arm chair critics, and yet the girl is no longer on the radar to respond and the sinparty crew are holding fort for her. The ones that are empty upstairs resort to abuses because they feel they are superior when they abuse their betters. A low esteemed person criticises while the superior ones reprimands. Check obj letter to buhari. Reprimand and not criticise. Others will call the buhari a fool and a fool is your president and yet you forgot that the leader who is a fool is leading fools. Cars45 rip off a girl who is buying a naija used cars and you guys are shouting fraud. The matter has not brought out any iota of regret that we should fight against things that destroys our cars, that we should take the campaign to all nooks and corners that even if there is no money to maintain cars, use better spark plugs, better oil. You will find that your efforts will go a long way in reducing the hardship that Nigerians go through before they decide to sell their cars for their peace of mind. Rise up , armchair critics, from your slumber and do something for your country. Keep blaming buhari for your inadequacies while buhari is making history in his chosen path. Siddon dey look and the next generation will hiss over your inability to do something to better the society. There are many ideas in the cemetary but cars45 chose to come out and solve a critical problem in the society and you all are calling it fraud. Bring out yours. Like Mtn will say, go start something
God bless you.

This thread shows clearly that:
*age is not a factor that determines reason and common sense.
*the ability to discern is a gift, available only to a few
*hatred for other people's success runs deep in many unsuccessful people
*some people are big online but will always sleep on their small student bed every night

Cars45 is an idea turned into reality. An idea that got an extra $5m funding just last year from the same 'abroad' that many loud mouths have been painting as their father's backyard.

An idea from humans who saw a need and created a product to meet that need. You have a car and need immediate cash? Cars45 would be there.

How many people have died just because they needed money and they couldn't convert their asset to cash fast? How many people need to sell their cars as discreetly as possible and have no avenue? How many people don't want to paste their private phone numbers online just because they want to sell a car?

An automobile business idea comes in and many people who have not even managed their wife successfully come online with free data to shout fraud. The most embarrassing are the 'elders' who evidently are just mileage magnets.

Let us analyse accusations logically and put our age and experience garnered into use.

The onus is on a used car buyer to inspect properly and analyse all information provided before making a purchase especially when the selling medium allows a system as transparent as possible.

Which other used car sales medium in Nigeria provides a detailed inspection report of a used car pre-purchase?

If the OP had simply seen a car on olx and paid without an inspection report, would your judgement have been different?

The hate mosquitoes would hum on and start singing without considering the facts but I plead with the humans who have a proper sense of discernment to analyse and decide

Thanks

Cars45 would buy your car at a price lower than expected. Yes, you would be disgruntled but they provide instant cash which will meet your needs. You have a choice of not selling to them....Put the same car on OLX and wait for one month.

If they are so bad as few guys claim, why do they keep having lots and lots of cars being brought to them? There is always a car available to us dealers to bid for at every single minute....it is simply because they meet a need. If you think they are not good, don't take your car there. Just don't spoil their business.

Now my simple question? What else do we think can be done to improve the process?

Someone suggested that a desktop computer should be available at the lot so that final buyers can Independently verify the reports and see the comprehensive details if they so require. This is a good suggestion and I would also inform my dealer manager to pass this on to management.

As I said earlier, I am a car dealer on cars45. I have sold dozens of vehicles through them and I use my knowledge of automobiles to advise my clients on the best deals.

I am not a staff or owner of cars45.

If you want to buy a good Nigerian used vehicle at an affordable price, cars45 is a good choice.

I would be going to the car yard at alausa today to pick another car. If you would like to have a tour or you are Interested in buying a used car with free consultation from me, we can meet there at noon today. WhatsApp on 080-555-86-999

Cheers

obekediamondfuto:
the boss, my take is this..... cars45 is not totally clean in this issue for many reasons including the fact that those cars were bought under their name in their show warehouse and it's the brand that probably brought the customer so they are very very much liable and culpable. denn that said Smth about supermarket car park..... I disagree about that example cos the car park did not in any way facilitate the sale, that business was between two independent parties that used their lot as a common ground and the supermarket did not gain any commission whatsoever from the sale.

my point however also includes the fact that cars45 made a smart move by putting disclaimers here and there that makes them look like a passive neutral ground for buyers and sellers to come and trade. u bring ur mechanic to inspect well before purchase.

I'm not saying they are innocent but that someone on their team is very very smart for adding those blockades and if beans turn moimoi the case is most likely to be ruled in their favour!

however, if they cannot be responsible for monitoring and actively engaging in sales then they should be avoided completely cos it is fraudulent to buy scrap and sell the same scrap to dealers and facilitate the sale only for u to tell the buyer afterwards that, u only buy cars and u don't sell! the dealers sell for u indirectly so as an entity u have a direct obligation to monitor the sales of these cars because it is ur name that made the sale and not the dealer. it is outright fraud to claim ignorance of the sale!
any misrepresentation will be directly tagged to ur image as a corporate entity.

a drug dealer that shoprite allows to sell his product in their mall cannot sell fake drugs and then shoprite will claim its not our goof oh, its a drug dealer or pharmacist ...., please liaise with him! no no no its not done!
Good points you raised.

Cars45 remains the only car purchase medium in this country that conducts a comprehensive inspection report on cars and buys the cars based on the results of the tests.

Let's take transmission issues for example. Every issue noticed with the transmission would be recorded on the report. Jerks, delays, leakages etc would be noted.

There is a two level check whereby the vehicle is again inspected via a quality control process to ensure that all the negatives are noted in the report.

Now if after going through all these, a buyer sees a very clean looking vehicle with report reading *delay in gear engagement, fluid leaks around transmission sump* yet buys the car, it is logical to expect that the buyer is ready to fix all the transmission issues noticed.

The company is not perfect but they receive feedbacks and are always dynamic, adjusting to realities in Nigeria.

PS: to those who think that since they have gotten the 'rare' chance of working for a few years out of this country, they have the right to ridicule everything that happens here, can I remind them that this exact business model exists in the 'abroad' they so much have put on their head like dreadlocks. A lot of cars on our roads are products of auction processes in the USA and I can even say their vehicle inspection processes does not beat the one cars45 offer.

Autojosh has done a commendable job. This is pure investigative journalism. Kudos.

The OP has failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that she was scammed.

The OP:
*called a car dealer on OLX
*visited Cars45 at the behest of the car dealer.
*picked a car she liked and paid to the car dealer
*drove the car out without issues only to complain of overheating after a few days.

My simple question. Apart from the fact that the car was in Cars45 yard, if the OP had seen the car on olx and met the seller in a supermarket car park, would she have accused the supermarket of fraud?

PS: I am a registered dealer on cars45 and I can assure you of the following:
*they are the only medium that gives a free and independent car status report in Nigeria as at today
*the summary of the report is printed and taped to every windshield in their lots
*the report is also printed and included in the documents you receive
*you are allowed to bring your mechanic

My advice to car buyers; read the report pasted on the windshield, in case you are not understanding what is written, get someone who can read to help you out. Bring your mechanic and get his opinion.

You are buying a Nigerian used car....get it fully serviced after purchase. Check all the systems and components.

PS: by service, I didn't mean draining the oil and adding a filter alone....check all components
