FamilyRe: My Husband Has Finally Fulfilled his fantasy of having a thr3esom&e by Dentale(f): 5:54pm On Nov 09, 2015
Arghhh!!! What kind of a "husband" is this? Someone said this was premeditated. I agree 100%. How can he ask for forgiveness when he planned it to execution? I don't normally like to get involved in people's marriages o but sista, this one is not a husband abeg. He's sick. Really sick. He has no regard for you or the children that people are advising you to stay because of. He values his fantasies above real life. If you can, take time off. You need to reevaluate yourself and your worth. You can take kids with you or with ur mum, sister, MIL or SIL. If you can work things out later after some counselling, all the best. But you need to establish what you will tolerate or not. The moment you appear to be so accepting and forgiving of premeditated cheating, you can't complain again. Take heart and be strong for yourself.

@ Chicagobound are you scheduled for a CS after 41 or 39 weeks? Which one? Pls clarify. 41 weeks is risky o! Especially when you're not a few minutes away from the hospital. 39weeks sef.. If u can my dear, pls book a place nearer to the hospital before ur scheduled date.

Don't you think you'll need your relatives more when baby arrives? Why moving out then and you may not get a new accommodation that will accept just 3weeks plus rentals from you o
Maybe there's no space for her plus baby and maybe hubby is joining too? Ive heard of people that move once baby is born. You're right she would need her relatives around her especially if she's not familiar with the area. She can find apartments on the airbnb website even for a few days. Always good to look out for the ones with positive reviews and close to people you know.

Yea thats what mean, but LadyG told her to notify the embassy about her intentions.
I'm confused o. Does she have any business with US Embassy if she is travelling with a British passport? I think not. For all intents and purposes, she is British as long as she carries the red passport. She will declare her intentions on arrival just like citizens of countries who don't need a visa to enter the US.

Nerf thanks on behalf of Chicagobound. I can imagine her pensiveness now. But una get liver sha. It's fear of drive by shootings and all what not that removed Chicago from my plans during my last delivery. I have very close friends and folks there but fear still catch me. Good to know there are relatively safe areas there. C
@Chicagobound Pls be careful abeg. Stay away from the no-go areas mentioned here and hope u get settled soon.

@Shanaka, Pele! What an ordeal... Waiting to hear the full gist. Hotel Apartments would most be more expensive so you can try airbnb listings near your relatives place. I'm not very keen about sharing with strangers(or even sometimes relatives grin) to avoid unnecessary quarrels but thats just my opinion.
NYSCRe: Ebonyi State Slashes Monthly Allowance Of Corper Doctors From N130k To N15k by Dentale(f): 9:36am On Nov 08, 2015
Nigerians hate their Doctors and I don't understand why. I hear excuses like "they should have passion for human life, be selfless etc" but that's so unfair! Here's an overpopulated country with lack of infrastructure and primary Healthcare. Everyone is struggling but somehow the Doctors should do so without complaining? Yes there are quacks but every profession has its good and bad eggs. Not just medicine. Even kids are sent home when they don't pay school fees. Why are Teachers not merciful to teach them for free? Everybody claiming to be as important but the truth is that Healthcare is essential service. In a life and death situation, you won't remember your latest gadgets or how an Architect is also working very hard etc. These people are under pressure daily. Let me not even go into what I witnessed them go through while I was in University. Maybe things have changed now but back then, medical students were being overstretched. The truth is that the person who authorised this cut isn't going to be using these 15K Doctors. If they aren't flying abroad to treat a headache or check their BP, it's going to be a very well paid (or well settled) Doctor that's looking after them and their loved ones. Someone mentioned Doctors in Oil&Gas companies. Don't even go there. They earn wayyyyy more than 600K and I think it's because these companies value their staff including the Engineers and Chemists etc who need to be in top shape so they pay the Doctors well to maintain the health of their workforce. In the US, Doctors earn crazy money. Nurses and Pharmacists are well paid. I can't say for sure why but I think you will agree that if you heard about someone dying in the US, you can bet that the medical team gave 200% of their ability and beyond! That's a country that values human life and that's why rich folks go there for treatment. I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't want a Doctor earning 15K and seeing up to 100 patients daily to be on duty if my life was in danger. Even when they move to private practice, Nigerians still want them to treat emergency cases without money. Not possible. I always advocate for people to take emergencies to Government hospitals. You cannot eat your cake and have it.
My advice to Doctors, if you can, please make the move to the US or UK or practice in Nigeria where you will be well renumerated and given the tools to work optimally. To whom much is given, much is expected. To whom less is given, less should also be expected.

@ Teefex, I don't think MIHS still accepts non locals. It was comprehensively discussed in part 2 I think. So it's a no go area. Port Health is like the Public Health representative/department of Federal Ministry of Health and they're present in some of the International Airports in Nigeria ie Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt... Im not sure of the other ones. They issue the Government approved Vaccination/Yellow Fever certificates required for certain countries and also Medical fitness to fly letters as I learnt from this thread smiley

Use ur host place of work... although personally, I feel that space is for if an organisation is hosting you
Also use ur hubby as sponsor on the form. You can explain to the VO verbally if you'll be co-sponsoring... Point out the transfers 4rm ur hubby on the statement if necessary
As for the denial, I don't really know cos I've not been denied b4 wink but I don't think they give explanations to peeps as to why they were denied sha)
Seconded @ Oga Shawlar's suggestion. I think though that you can either fill in the Contact Person OR the Organisation, not both. So it's just one of the radio buttons that can be active. I don't remember ever having to fill in both and I usually use the place I'm staying at i.e Hotel or Host details. I stand to be corrected though.

@ whiteroses u harsh o cheesy so no answer without the embassy and POE story? Some people are embassy "guests" na. Them no get visa problem at all. POE stories are always fun though. My last POE story was too boring to share. I was bored, the CBP guy was bored.. We were done in no time cheesy

@Oyibo Pele o. Hope the pain resolves soon.
@Favoured gal, that's more like it! I for fear o. That lots of folks going to Houston are paying so high.. Good to know there's more affordable options.
On another note, this thing with Lufthansa na wa. I love that airline so much but I won't get a fit to fly from my Doctor quoting a different gestational age and me I want to leave at 36weeks. My other option is AirFrance for now since theyre the only other airline that leaves from PH. Can anyone who has used them advise how the experience was? My last experience with Lufthansa was awesome. The moment the cabin crew sighted my big belly, it was pampering all the way until we landed. Lol
Coming back was even better. They were even helping me carry baby sometimes while on board. I would miss that experience.

Oh this is so so sad the way they're laid on the floor. All their plans for the day and dreams for tomorrow.. gone. But I always wonder... Sometimes these folks may have a slim chance of survival. A Doctor hasn't declared them dead at the scene. They might be unconscious with a very slim but valid chance of living. Yet they are left there with people even taking pics of them. No emergency services! I can't remember when last I saw a news report of a fatal accident in a developed country where I didn't sight an emergency vehicle with no photos of the bodies. We have a longgggg way to go. Human life sadly has little value in Nigeria.

I used Dr Elizabeth baily. She accepted all my test from Nigeria and didn't collect money for my ultrasound which I do weekly from 32 weeks until delivery at 38weeks. I got her when Dr lai rejected me grin
Lol grin why the rejection? I didn't know Houston hospitals were that costly. It's unfair sha to pay high Doctor fees when one is arriving at 35 weeks plus. How many weekly checks can be done before delivery? Similar prices and slightly higher for Florida. One Doctor in Hollywood Florida that I called said it's $5000 for his fees alone, when I told him I'll be arriving at 36weeks he said the best that his office can do is $4500. The hospital fee is $5000. Before u add Anesthesia and Paediatric fees, ure approaching 12K. Then if u need NICU, u don enter one chance! Someone made a comment about expensive accommodation in Miami. No be lie! Imagine even airbnb can be upwards of $3000 monthly, let alone hotels. Its the winter season that's why.

A close relative gave birth in Atlanta recently and paid under 7K all inclusive for C-section delivery. Lemme get the breakdown and I'll share

Glory be to God! But na wa o. Not to scare anyone or discredit the Airline, my last flight on Medview some months back was drama! From Port Harcourt to Lagos the plane was "climbing up and down" in the air like in a staircase. Still gives me chills when I remember. Once we landed, they announced a delay for the return flight due to "operational reasons". I sincerely hope all our airlines are well monitored for maintenence etc. Kudos to the crew for averting casualties.

Congratulations on safe delivery,God bless your LO.
I'm a Dec mom in el Paso, using Dr. A, please how exactly did you go about getting your baby's birth certificate so soon? I'm been told it would take about 6weeks, and I'm due back in naija by 1st week of Jan.
You could use vitalcheck website for expedited service. Mine was ready in 8 days. Theres a website for El Paso birth records. U can Google "epcounty birth records". I kept checking it daily after delivery and once I saw my baby's name had been registered there, I went in person to pick it up same day for $23.

Shuoooo!!! Another dragged out argument brewing! Action always happening when I'm at work. Justwise Pele, U have ur work cut out in moderating this thread.
@Olokings everyone cannot be a research specialist. And nobody has got a right to label anyone else as lazy here. By the way, I learnt about Dr. F since late 2012 from a Nigerian work colleague based in Houston. Not everybody heard about him from Nairaland. Like someone rightly pointed out, the most helpful people on this thread have also been the most generous with information. It's usually those with limited or no info that come here posting up and down without adding real value (with the exception of a few)! And of course they get likes from their cliques (boarding school things) egging them on.
Some might think that is what keeps this thread alive but I disagree. People telling their stories, giving reviews and being real helpful to others is what keeps the thread alive. Not being sarcastic and downright rude to others or chasing "agents" up and down as if Justwise can't do his thing by himself.
Neks says the truth in that if I volunteer any info here, the first thing some folks will do is find out how long I've been on Nairaland and if not long enough, then I must be an agent cheesy.
I don't care about cliques. It's allowed to form one. Me, I'm a bona-fide soloist by choice. But saying you haven't noticed bullying on this thread means must be clueless or one of bullies yourself. Live and let live people! Let's enjoy this thread abeg.

I clearly understand Chicagomum's point. Justwise raised the issue of the difference between personal reviews and 3rd party reviews. I also did, as some others too. She's responding in line with Justwise's request for suggestions on how to put this whole brouhaha behind us. On the other hand, I appreciate Nef's point and the importance of reviews warning you of what you may expect if you use a certain practitioner. Very important, afterall many of us look out for negative reviews before purchasing a product. Moreso when it's an issue of life and death.
So in the end, we may not be able to limit reviews to personal experiences afterall. Especially when they can potentially save lives. However, a 3rd party review on cost and accommodation is another matter.
At end, it may come to depend on Justwise's judgement to separate the wheat from the chaff. Just like it was in part one.
