So, we signed a contract with a waste management entity without waste management infrastructure on the ground and we are not only funding the infrastructure build up from scratch, we are also on the hook for tens of billions attached to our IGR that must be paid no matter what?

Basically, Ambode trashed the existing LAWMA infrastructure that was actually working and keeping Lagos clean, including billions of dollars worth of trucks compactors, loading and transfer stations, years of training and eperience within LAWMA workforce, Ambode flushed all that down the drain just to pump taxpayers tens of billions into an unknown untested company with zero infrastructure or even office on the ground.

I keep saying, Ambode is the most incompetent governor in the history of Lagos state.

“Lagos has gotten progressively less transparent today, they don’t even bother,” said Tunde Leye, Consulting Partner at SBM Intelligence.
Under the previous Governor Fashola for example, even though the budget was not detailed, you could find procurement information on the LASG website (that’s how we knew how much he spent on the website or boreholes for example). We know exactly the cost of building the Lekki Ikoyi Bridge. Compare to Ambode where we do not know how much he spent to build the Ajah flyover or anything else. Civil society has tried to invoke the freedom of information (FOI) act repeatedly but they have either been ignored or blown off. Lagos is very opaque.”

You have to be jobless and have a sorry and miserable life to be on the internet crying and wailing over a common red carpet that other people obviously rolled out for the President as a sign of respect.

Like they say, little things affect little minds

You are the daft one here. You were trying to be witty but ended up talking like a fool.

So a president has the time to wait for a red carpet to be rolled out before visiting a disaster site? You sycophants are the real enemies of this country. You should know when to shut up and not sound like a fool.
I didn't know you were the jobless ipob losers standing, waiting and actually saw PMB standing and waiting for the red carpet to be laid.

I hope and pray you get a job and find something meaningful to do with your miserable life instead of trecking to Yobe just to sit around waiting for PMB's motorcade to show and then sit and wait to see PMB sitting around for red carpet to be laid.

You jobless ipob losers really do come up with the most idiotic and senseless rubbish for real.

Tomorrow's headlines will be PMB disgraced himself because The sky wasn't blue when he visited Yobe

How sorry, pathetic and absurd can some jobless Nigerian youths be?

We were all around when GEJ was coming to OTA to commission projects almost every quarter but no one talked because every sensible human knows the role of the FG in creating a conducive environment for investment.

Oh Lawd!!! You again. huh
I can't do this with you when you don't seam to care to understand what people are trying to say.
You are sounding more like a politician than a rational thinker.
Not everyone is an opposition party, some of us really do care for the future of the country.
My point is, why not make good roads, train system available so peeps can come from other state and work in lagos and still go back without hitch.
You

They are building roads, they are building bridges, they are building waterways infrastructures like the one we are talking about in this thread and they are building a metro rail system, so, exactly what are you crying over?

What are you complaining about that they are not actually doing today?
Me

1. You keep telling us what they should be doing and I stated that they are already doing what you keep saying they are not doing?

2. I don't remember saying anything about politics or political party in this thread. If politics or political parties is what's driving your illogical and baseless arguments, it doesn't mean it is driving other people's point of view.

3. You are yet to show us your own studies that say this project is going to be underwater beyond your factless and baseless objections.

If you say "for lagos state,it is" wrt my post, then you mean that land reclamation is actually the least of the problem..
But I think you are trying to say the opposite. Well you may say the state needs more land hence you support the reclamation.
But do you know that people somewhere in this same world you and I live in, work in Sweden and live in Denmark and vice versa, to name a few? All they need to do is either board a train or drive and cross. My point is, instead of reclaiming lands which will pose a hazard due to our poor maintenance culture, why not make good roads, train system available so peeps can come from other state and work in lagos and still go back without hitch.
Those countries doing land reclamation have exploited all possible safer options before going ahead. But we? No!! We just want to be like them.
Like I said, I am not against the reclamation, but we need to do the basics first.
What do I know anyways?

And do you have your own studies that say this project is going to be underwater? Do you?

Did they not dredge Eko Atlantic and did we not listen to the same doom and gloom prophesies like you are spewing here? Is Eko Atlantic flooding or is it under water?

All you have is hysterics with zero facts.

Ambode is the joker of the century. The Lagos light Rail System - how far has it gone? Instead of distracting people with this Oworonsoki scheme, and dissipating money on many needless projects, let him complete the light rail first so that it will ease up traffic in Lagos!! shocked

Staying update does not end on just what is written for me and you for reading sake and possible applause. Action speak louder. There are so many projects going on at the same time that may not or never be completed by this present administration. All this we know is just to consolidate their grip on the state as the ruling party for fear of possible take over by their rival party. The Badagry express project is moving on a snail speed. The Oshodi transport interchange, the airport road project, the abeokuta Rd the Oshodi BRT track project, the expansion and illumination of the Lekki epe expressway from Abraham Adesanya roundabout to Epe and so on. Why not focus on one and let's see how it goes.
If you are going to spew negativity about what they are starting and not completing in Lagos, you should first show us the ones they started and later abandoned. Support your negativity with facts.

You're comparing such countries to Nigeria where nothing works.
The fact that nothing works in Nigeria means we should all sit on our hands and do nothing, we shouldn't make any attempts, we shouldn't come up with any ideas or start or build anything?

The way many of you think, your country shouldn't depend on you for a better future and a developed country because you have nothing to offer beyond negative mentality

I know this is the truth but my question is..

Will a country like Nigeria able to manage the engineering properly ? We’ll see to this in the future..
We heard the same endless argument and the same doom and gloom prophecies about Eko Atlantic and how it won't survive ordinary rainfall, but Eko Atlantic is still standing majestically without a puddle of water after rainfalls that that crippled many parts of Lagos.

Sometimes I thank God that many of our so-called leaders of tomorrow are not in charge of anything in Nigeria, it seems these old public officials have better ideas, can do spirit and the mental fortitude to move forward, do great things, to develop than our so-called backward thinking, negativity obsessed and incapacitated youths who can not take any risk or face challenges for their own good.

The developed countries faced many adversities before arriving at the term developed counties, they faced, they survived and learn from many challenges, but not our own youths, its the other way around with them, they want a clean and fairytale world where everything is laid out for them, smooth and easy.

Nothing in life comes easy, but you can not learn and develop without taking the first step and learning from your errors or by getting bogged down with negativity and can't do or don't do attitude that many of our youths shamefully display all over the place.

Nigerian youths are not ready for anything.

There is an existing jetty at Mile 2 with similar design, abandoned and littered with sunken ferries like a war zone.

They should first fix this existing asset and use it as model for any other one.
You are a little bit behind.

The Mile 2 jetty was concessioned with the same cinema hall, entertainment, shopping mall, and many other life supporting facilities theme like what they are doing in Oworonshoki.

the concession agreement is build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) bases.

http://businessandmaritimewestafrica.com/maritime-development/lasg-concessions-mile-2-jetty-to-private-operator

The Mile 2 to CMS routes is what am referring to. Everything should not be about mainland and Victoria Island only.
Mile 2 and the surrounding areas are actually benefiting more than a lot of communities in Lagos state, they have the Lagos Metro and a 10 lane freeway with BRT and a world-class jetty to follow.

About 1/4 of Amsterdam is reclaimed. 11 cities in China are reclaimed from sea, majority of Singapore is reclaimed from sea, Mumbai in India is majorly reclaimed from sea.... the palm island in Dubai is reclaimed also.

Land reclamation has been going on in d Netherlands since 1300 up till today, yet no record of casualties.

Lagos is about 3,000sq/m... being d smallest state in Nigeria with high population density and d need to cater for its demand is high as well. I'm sure people like u can't stay in eko Atlantic cos it's a reclaimed city but will like to live in "mukahari" in Japan not knowing its a reclaimed community as well.

Niggas fear what they don't understand n hates what they can't conquer, guess it's just the theory of man.

This is emotion. Are you an Engineer.

Too dangerous? Is dredging the only way of developing the area
Flloding occurs because there is no drainage not just in that area but across Lagos. With the right engineering solution storm water can be managed

Amsterdam Venice and the UK are good examples of canalization solutions.

We do not have to be superstitious about nature
