If I were you I would prefer an above average leadership with a moderate fund.

Because no amount of resources can out play the human resources. Give a billion to a dullered and see it squandered. In economics, the most valuable resources is the human.

I mostly pity delta, rivers, and most oil producing States, they've not been blessed with good leaders even with all the resources at their disposal.
Lagos state's total debt is N432 billion

Delta's state's total debt is N700 billion

Akwa Ibom passed more budget figures than Lagos state, but nothing significant came out of the huge budgets.

Money without sane and credible leadership means nothing.

Lagos is lucky not only because of IGR, but because they've always been blessed with good leadership from their 1st governor, Mobolaji Johnson to Jakande, Marwa, Tinubu, Fashola and now Ambode.

The mentality in Lagos is different and not the same in other state. Eko o ni baje and Eko for show means you must perform more than the leaders before you.

He may make a difference but i assure you it won't be huge because it's very difficult to have ideas and not have money to execute them. Those bridges that he builds in Lagos cost a lot of money and one bridge can finish Ekiti's allocation for one year (exageration), so it will be had for him to build anything of note.

I'll prefer my state too have money and average leadership than have above average leadership and lack funds.
Not having money is not the end of anything or should be an excuse for not making credible changes or even coming up with creative ways for money generation empowerment and pleasant atmosphere for businesses and jobs to flourish.

Lagos was poor at one point, generating less than N500 million per month under Tinubu, but the leaders found creative means for revenue generation and the tool he used "Alpha Beta" was lampooned as a vehicle for corruption is being used by nearly all the states in Nigeria even the federal level is copying Lagos state's revenue generating model.

If you are going to make excuse for the clueless and incompetent governor in Ekiti, at least list the sound and credible governing principles and economic policies he's enacted to better Ekiti state in any way.

When was the last time Fayose staged economic forum for investors access economic opportunities in his or what the state possesses in form of resources and productive manpower? When was the last time he introduced creative tax collection system to up the state's revenue.?

As mush as many condemn Osun state, Osun is still the runner-up after Lagos when it comes to infrastructure and commissioned projects in Nigeria, but Osun doesn't have half of the revenue they have in Lagos state, but they have a very determined and focussed leader.

Ekiti is poor economically, but they are poorer and worse off because of bad leadership, it's now a state synonymous with poor and hungry poeople linning on the side if the road everyday for cups of rice and N200 stipends.
PoliticsRe: Fly Over And Road Construction In Epe, Lagos Ongoing (Photos) by deomello: 7:01pm On Apr 16, 2017
Afam4eva:
It's actually a balance of both. Take Ambode to Ekiti and see if he will make any difference. That's why i think the money that lagos has both through monthly allocation and IGR is soo much that they can embark on projects that other states won't dare.
He'll make a huge difference because I'm 100% sure he won't be lining people up on the side of the road distributing 2 cups of rice and N200 or spending his days and nights running from market to market cutting kponmo and hanging out with market woman or obsessed wiht issues outside his state like the FG and the president instead of governing and finding credible solutions for the issues affecting his people.

Yes, money advantage is good, but money without good and credible leadership with vision means nothing because some states in Nigeria pased more budgets than Lagos state and even own more than Lagos state, but they have nothing to show for it because of bad leadership.

Has he completed the light rail? No.
After 18 years of their AD/AC/ACN/APC bojuboju progressive government and billions of dollars stolen?
And have work stopped? No.

Last I checked, they are building rail bridge on the marina and along marina waterfront so sooner of later, they will commission this bridge just like they commissioned many projects than other states in Nigeria.

The question is, what have they commissioned in your village since independence. Nothing meaningful apart from hate and bitterness.

Do you know the IGR of Lagos from the huge population?
That is why they can do a little shine shine projects and steal a lot while most of the taxpayers remain mumus who gullibly praise them instead of asking serious questions.
IGR can not replace good leadership with vision and sense of duty because you can have good IGR and still remain clueless, incompetent and not know what to do with your IGR.

Even with Lagos huge IGR, Akwa Ibom without huge IGR collected more money in form of allocation and derivations that sum up more than the budgets in Lagos state, but Lagos still commissioned more projects than Akwa Ibom.

Delta owe more money than Lagos state but still have nothing to show for it while Lagos has more than enough to show for their debt.

Good leadership with vision is better than huge IGR with bad and incompetent leadership.

Looks like Ambode is trying because there is almost no competition from other states in Nigeria.

He can never out work Fashola and in fact, Ambode is very behind when it comes to Fashola's first 2 years in office.

And below is GEJ denial of ever approving such contract

Stupidity is when you lack the capacity to read and comprehend before jumping all over the place.

I never asserted that GEJ awarded contract, I said GEJ approved the release of the 2 billion shared by Dasuki and the finance minister Okonjo officially released the memo she sent to GEJ for approval to release the funds to Dasuki which he did.

I don't even know where in this thread it was stated that GEJ awarded contract and there is a difference between contract award and approval of funds.

Did GEJ deny approving the money Dasuki shared? No

If you are going to argue, argue based on what was said and also first learn how to read and comprehend.

Obanikoro refunds N134m to EFCC, promises N450m more in 2017

A former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, on Monday returned N30m to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. This brings the total amount of money he has returned to the EFCC to N134m.

A source at the EFCC said, “Obanikoro came on Monday and presented a draft of about N30m. Initially we did not want to collect it because it is small compared to what he is supposed to have given us. However, the legal department advised us to collect it.”

Obanikoro had in October returned N104m to the commission. The ex-minister, who returned to Nigeria last month after spending about 15 months in the United States, was accused of receiving N4.7bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser under the leadership of Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.).

Obanikoro had said in his statement of oath at the EFCC that after receiving the money in 2014, he gave N1.219bn to the then governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, while N1.3bn was given to the PDP candidate in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

He also confessed to giving Fayose a separate $5.377m at Spotless Hotel in Ekiti State in the presence of party leaders including the then PDP Secretary, Mr. Tope Aluko.

Obanikoro was said to have kept about N785m for himself, which he allegedly spent while campaigning ahead of the PDP governorship primary in Lagos State. Mr. Jimi Agbaje won the primary.

However, the EFCC asked Obanikoro to return about N584m out of which he had already returned N134m.

The PDP chieftain first denied that he collected money but his lawyer was unable to secure bail for him

Senator Iyiola Omisore has finally confessed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that he received N1.3 billion from Sambo Dasuki, the former national security adviser.

Dasuki, alongside the former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, and founder of DAAR Communications, owners of Africa Independent Television and Raypower radio network, Raymond Dokpesi, are being investigated for their roles in the disbursement of $2.1 billion and N643 billion meant for the procurement of arms to fight the raging insurgency in Nigeria’s north east region. Okonjo-Iweala’s letter dated January 20, 2015, which was addressed to Jonathan, revealed that the money was transferred following a January 12, 2015 request by the Office of the NSA under Dasuki for funds for the procurement of arms and ammunition as well as intelligence equipment.

2 billion wasn't missing and it was all propaganda, but the looters and receivers confessed that they collected from the funds.

Reference:
Told you folks corruption can never end and it is not the problem of Nigeria, it is our culture. Recovering money is the least effective way of combatting it. Just like catching bugs in a swamp to rid it of the insects. You may want to exterminate them instead which is tantamount to executing offenders like in China with limited results but the only way you are ever going to succeed is to simply 'drain the swamp', cut the grass where they breed and clear gutters of clutter. The environment is paramount to the amount of corruption any country faces. Every man on earth is corrupt but not every environment on earth is suitable to breed corruption.

The nature and structure of Nigeria is a rife breeding ground for corruption. Our constitution is a corruption operating document that approves the eatablishment of state without responsibility, zccountability, probity, allocates offices and creates resource demand without a framework for income in tandem and makes population not productivity the index by which development is pursued so you have those experts at making babies ultimate decision makers when in most societies they are regarded as less responsible, less hardworking and less educated.

Thus, resources without responsibility given largely to irresponsible people will generate corruption naturally that no individual with whatever power you have in heaven and earth can tackle. Corruption in the present Nigeria can never end. It will rather deepen, spread, intensify and be perpetrated in increasingly clandestine manner. The only way out is to restructure Nigeria and remove the fuel that enhances the fire. Just wait for this government to leave power and see the avalanche of cases that will erupt.
Also, immunity for governors and top government officials, corrupt lawmakers, corrupt institutions and judiciary.

We not only have corrupt public officials on trial for corruption, we also have many members of the judiciary on trial for corruption.

The whole system is corrupt.
