Nigeria: Immigration Recruitment Tragedy - Death of 14 Job Seekers

IT was a tragic Saturday last weekend when no fewer than14 candidates seeking enlistment into the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, died in the course of recruitment. Eight died in Ilorin, four in Enugu and two in Umuahia. More deaths were recorded in several other designated centres for the recruitment.

The Enugu incident, which also saw 20 other candidates hospitalized on account of injuries sustained, threw the entire state into confusion as parents and guardians of the over 10,000 job seekers abandoned the day's activities and ran helter-skelter in search of their relatives who participated in the recruitment exercise.

Back in February 2014, Mr. Omokri wound up in a scandal after digital footprint of an article that tried to link the spike in Boko Haram attack to the suspension of Mr. Sanusi as CBN governor was traced to him.

Mr. Omokri allegedly used the pseudonym, Wendel Simlin, in the article circulated to bloggers and journalists but the document digital signature was identical to previous documents Mr. Omokri had sent to PREMIUM TIMES

TylerDurden:
In his bid to wrest control of the APC NWC for himself, Tinubu is already digging his own grave alongside that of the APC.

The only reason Buhari listened to Tinubu's grievances is because Buhari wants to make him(Tinubu) feel relevant so he can be used and dumped again. There is an election year in the corner and Buhari will be needing Tinubu to do his bidding once more in the SW.

In typical Tinubu childishness, Tinubu demanded that the current APC NWC headed by Oyegun be dismantled. Tinubu has come to identify Oyegun as his arch enemy following his disastrous outing in Ondo and Kogi and has since held a grudge against Oyegun notwithstanding that the gubernatorial primaries in Ondo that saw Tinubu's candidate sidelined and the emergence of Yahaya Bello were all scripted from Aso Rock to cut Tinubu to size. But for some daft reason Tinubu has come to identify Oyegun as the cause to his political woes.

Buhari has given Tinubu free reign to reconcille the party according to how Tinubu seem fit. Buhari maybe a compound illiterate but he is no fool. He has given Tinubu an errand to assuage his own ego and Tinubu immediately took it personally by leaking a letter he wrote to Oyegun claiming Oyegun was hampering his effort at reconciling the party. Oyegun's response couldn't have been more mature.

Tinubu will later go beyond his mandate at reconciling the party by dictating how the next round of congresses for elected officials within the APC NWC must be conducted. Still Buhari indulged Tinubu. With no proper assessment of the highly fractious nature of his own party, Tinubu went to market demanding and insisting that congresses from the ward level must be held. This is also despite the fact that Tinubu has no solid ground even in his own lair in Lagos.

The fallout of the ward and state congresses held by the APC nationwide has caused more problems than it hoped to solve but by far the most ironic twist to all this is that it is the same Oyegun-led NWC that will decide among the factions from each state which is genuine.

This is why you don't hear Oyegun talking as he will resoundingly deal with Tinubu by identifying with opposing camps and factions.

In the end Tinubu will come out more deflated.
lmao @ Oyegun will deal with Tinubu. Who is Oyegun? grin

Buhari Will Win Presidential Poll By A Landslide – Dele Momodu

Jonathan became an elitist president and the moment you are elitist in nature, outlook in attitude, you are bound to fail. Nigeria requires a selfless leader and reduces personal comfort for overall comfort of the people. The moment you gallivant all over the world, drive special jets, go to Jerusalem with entourage of people and people are lying to you that you are the best thing that ever happened to Nigeria, what nonsense.

The key element of leadership is trust. If you are coming to Lagos, you lock down everywhere; you cannot be a man of the people, you cannot see anything and that is why the Benin-Ore road they are making noise about is still useless. They have repaired some parts of it but did not do it all the way to Sagamu. Jonathan does not see all these because when he moves, they shield him.

Look at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the most important road linking the heartbeat of Nigeria to the rest of Nigeria. The PDP has not been able to complete it in the last 16 years. There is headway in the railway, looking at Sijuade and the rest, but the government must be more serious than ambitious. If you just want to do one rail from Lagos to Kano then make it the best quality. When are we going to start doing quality projects?

There have been attacks on candidates as the elections get closer. What do you make of the advertorial by Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose on Buhari?

I will describe the advert as very satanic, extremely satanic. It is probably worse than the cartoon that caused problem in France and this is where you know that Nigerians are not really violent. In other places, that would have caused violence. What he did was to provoke anger in the people against the PDP and against Jonathan. If I were Jonathan, I will distant myself from Fayose immediately because that advert was totally reckless and irresponsible.
