I've always known that you don't reason any better than slowpoke (if at all u are not one).
Going through my post, you will realise that am indifferent about the flood,my concern is the nature of the buildings and the environment as a whole
You are indifferent, but you still managed to make ignorant distinctions between flood in Ogun state and in your own village.

So, what's responsible for the floods in your own village? Superb building and world-class planning?

Very dumbo and unintelligent post.

Flood is not a crime,it happens even in the 1st world countries, but if you have eyes, check out the building in the pictures, compare and contrast it with what we have in ogun state flood pictures
So, according to you, flood is not a crime, but at the same time it is a crime in Ogun state, but not your own village even when you are flooded, your home underwater, vehicles submerged, corpse/dead bodies washed off...

Is it a must that you people should never ever make sense?

I see nothing in your ignorant and unintelligent post but idiocy..

Corpse, buildings washed away in Onitsha flood

A corpse was washed away yesterday in Onitsha, Anambra State, following a downpour that wreaked havoc in the commercial city of the state.
Two buildings under construction were also said to have collapsed in Owelle Aja area of Obosi while vehicles, houses and properties were destroyed.

Daily Trust gathered that traders at the Onitsha International Electronics Market were adversely affected by the flood, as most areas of the market were submerged.
Speaking to newsmen, the Financial Secretary of the market, Onyeka Azubike, who said the source of the corpse was yet to be ascertained, attributed the cause of the flood to blocked drainage system.

They did so not so long ago with the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), when they harangued the man with questions and it seemed they were more patriotic than the minister.

What happened between Fashola and the lawmakers is like the vacuous quarrel between husband and wife in which outsiders wonder over their pettifogging over inconsequentials. But the real issue is known only to the sparring spouses.

Hardball learned that the lawmakers had requested Fashola’s ministry to fund their overseas trips, and the minister did not agree. He said he did not want to contravene the protocol of this democracy that forbade one arm of government to fund another. The minister had wounded their vanity.

They also bombarded him with scores and scores of companies for contracts. The minister said they did not bid and it was against the protocol of due process to grant any such deals. They also wanted to acquire a high percentage of the contracts for rural electrification of the universities, and again the minister said no

The Senate and its younger cousin, The House of Representatives, have a fashion of summoning ministers, heads of agencies and chief executives of sensitive companies. The chambers’ committees then assume the toga of a monarch, tossing questions at the invitees as though addressing a school boy.

They pose for the press, speak with grandiose morality and dramatise an ownership of protocol. For instance, in the last visit of members of the National Assembly to the office of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali, they expected the Customs chief to walk down to receive them on their arrival.

But the old soldier was not a man to bait. He retorted that he was not a jellyfish to be tossed about and insisted that the lawmakers were received according to protocol. After all, it was not as if the agency did not assign its officials to receive them. The legislative comedian, Dino Melaye, roared his protest over what he saw as an act of institutional contempt

The man of Customs had to remind them of their earlier sins when he visited. No one treated him with such courtesy. In one word, the lawmakers were hypocrites. They do so all the time. They invite heads of agencies, even for inconsequential reasons

There is no way Saraki will wish Nigeria well and work for the progress of the country. This is why in a saner clime, once Saraki is facing a criminal charge in court, he ought to have stepped down as Senate President. My people says that you dont come back from court and remain friends with your adversaries. Saraki is delaying. Nigeria budget among many other things due to selfish reasons.
Sadly, saraki is a reflection of our very lawless Nigeria where they practice democracy the other way around. Saraki is the most corrupt, greedy corrupt public official and kleptomaniac, he's been looting and stealing since his governing days in Kwara many failed banks and institutions. The same man is not only currently under trial for criminal transgressions, he's front and center in the Paradise Papers fiasco, a clear violation of Nigerian law.

In America, the land of democracy, people like saraki are forced to resign because you can not keep your seat while on trial for criminal or any kind of offense.

In America, you don't get to sit and decide who to confirm as the director of the FBI while on trial by via investigations or ongoing investigations by the FBI, but Saraki, his VP and many of his subs are not only on trial and under investigation by the EFCC they get to decide who should be their own prosecutor, a clear case of conflict of interest.

You see this kind of absurd and criminal rubbish only in Nigeria.

Contempt of Congress

Definition

Congress has the authority to hold a person in contempt if the person's conduct or action obstructs the proceedings of Congress or, more usually, an inquiry by a committee of Congress.

Contempt of Congress is defined in statute, 2 U.S.C.A. § 192, enacted in 1938, which states that any person who is summoned before Congress who "willfully makes default, or who, having appeared, refuses to answer any question pertinent to the question under inquiry" shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a maximum $1,000 fine and 12 month imprisonment.

Before a Congressional witness may be convicted of contempt, it must be established that the matter under investigation is a subject which Congress has constitutional power to legislate.

Generally, the same Constitutional rights against self-incrimination that apply in a judicial setting apply when one is testifying before Congress.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/contempt_of_congress
1. In America where we borrowed and copied democracy from, they have within their constitution what they call, Contempt Od Congress to specifically address and discipline people when they transgress against summon orders issued by the Congress.

2. The Nigerian Senate has similar authority, so why are they not sitting any relevant part of our constitution that says the IG must appear before them or face contempt charges?

3. They know they have zero jurisdiction based on the highlighted in the above quote and this is what Mr. Falana highlighted, the Nigerian senate obviously saw their own transgressions and shortcomings, hence their inability to sanction the ID or charge him with contempt.

4. It is very sad that this grossly incompetent Nigerian Senate is wasting our time and resources on silly and self-serving issues on an ongoing criminal investigation and trial of one of their members, something they should be a million miles away from, something they shouldn't be in any way talking about because of appearance of partiality and conflict of interest.

4. The Senate is off base because this issue has nothing to do with the Senate, Dino can address any ill-treatment by the Nigerian police by presenting his case before the judiciary for redress.

Mr. Falana ave the clueless, ignorant and incompetent Nigerian Senate a face-saving way out and they really need t thank him.

Twy:
Actually, you guys do not understand how the law can be interpreted. Falana wrote “The only other occasion where a public officer can be summoned by the National Assembly is when proceedings are ongoing to expose corruption (Section 88) and when a law is being debated either with a view to amending it or to have a new law entirely.”

He interpreted that section to mean when the legislature is investigating corruption. To be honest, that section is ambiguous and it will be left to a court to determine the limitations of a summons. Both side can interpret it as they wish. A strict interpretation will likely result in what Falana said and loose interpretation may favor the senate.
We don't even have to get into the needless legalities and grand standing, all the arms of government are blessed with the Nigeria Constitution to guard and direct them as they perform their official public duties, so if the Constitution per this issue is on the side of the Senate, they have corrective tools at their disposal to work, like amending or even creating new laws to enforce compliance.

They can also throw contempt of the Senate charges against the IG, but they obviously can not so because they are either Constitutionally incompetent and ignorant per their own rights as the legislative arm of government or they know they don't have any Constitutional backing or rights to summon the IG in the first place and they can not do anything about it.

Why are they not sitting relevant parts within the Nigerian Constitution that says the IG must accept their summons?

The Senate in it's present for is nothing but a sad and pathetic body, their actions are never in the interests of the Nigerian people, even this summon issue is about their crooked and corrupt Dino, not about Nigerians orany serious issues facing Nigeria as a country.
