oduastates: Frankly , if it were possible for the Oil companies to move their corporate headquarters to Amsterdam, they would . Port harcourt used to be a very serene and peaceful city with a small town vibe like Portland. That is until the Ijaws started their nonsense in port harcourt. Warri before then . I remember when shell moved their non essential staff to Lagos during Abacha regime when the ND started harassing the oil companies.
Oil companies like Mobil ,National oil, Texaco etc have always had offices in Lagos since like colonial times. The administrative side of things to deal with local procurement, taxation, government and consular services. https://i0.wp.com/elicitnews.com/media/2017/01/Wike-with-cutlass.jpgThis is their crude, crass and disgusting thug governor so exactly what are they expecting from this clown beyond restlessness, instability and unfriendly business environment. The unemployment rate in Rivers is the highest in Nigeria, but this joker is so obsessed with fights, friction and executive disorderliness and he's been destabilizing that state for years even when Amaechi was the governor. Remember his atrocities with Jona, his wife and the former commissioner of police they used to fight Amaechi? And this clown used to be the minister of education...smh.. |

laudate: In fact, O di kwa too much! Onne Port is highly functional and has witnessed increased growth in shipping traffic, every year for the last 5 years, but the importers from the SE and other regions still prefer to head to Lagos ports, and do business through there. Then they turn round to blame your Yoruba people for the cause of their woes!
The late Ojo Maduekwe and the elegant Kemafor Chikwe, were both Ministers of Transport from the SE region, in charge of the sea ports and river ports, under different administrations. They had the power to change the fate of the ports in their region, but did they do so? No! Right now, Rotimi Amaechi is the current Minister of Transport who has the power to change the fortunes of Port-harcourt sea port and also dredge Warri port and Onitsha port, if he so wishes, in order to let large shipping vessels sail through there. Has he given the orders for these things to be done? I don't think so. Yet, his kinsmen from the Niger-Delta will still turn around and blame the Yorubas for the non-functional status of their ports. Onne seaport is there, thriving and functioning well, but will the SE importers use it? No. They prefer to head for Lagos whenever they need to import or export their goods. So whose fault is that? It is well. You Yoruba people need to share the secret of your influence and ability to lock down the ports in other regions with us, so we can copy your footsteps. Maybe, it would help us gain more supporters in the political arena. Who knows? Same way the cry all the time about airport, but Stellah Oduah was the aviation minister and all she did was saddled them with rubbish and flooding river Niger airport.. Guess who they are blaming for that absurdity? Yoruba people.. |

Akpabio budgets billions every year for this invisible seaport.Despite the yearly allocation of several billions of naira for the construction of a proposed greenfield deep seaport at Ibaka in Akwa Ibom State by both the State Government and the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) since 2011, the project has remained elusive, with no evidence of a port being built at the proposed site.
The project is missing in the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan and in the list of similar projects planned in partnership between the federal government and state government, with expectations of private investors collaborations, investigations by LEADERSHIP have revealed.
The Ibaka Deep Seaport, a project for which the federal ministry of transport, the NPA and the Akwa Ibom State Government have held several workshops and taken commendations at several events is also missing in a maritime and air transport report prepared by Steer Davies Gleave for the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) hosted by The African Development Bank.
The study, which was carried out to assess the potential for enhanced private participation in the maritime and air transport sectors in Africa however identified the Lekki Deep Seaport measuring 970m of container berths, 320m dry bulk berth, 1-2 oil berths and located 60km east of Lagos.
The Badagry greefield port, Koko Port and Olokola Port were also listed with their capacity and promoters.
The water at Ibaka is said to have a natural draft of 11 metres, without dredging, making it a huge potential for possible deep seaport construction.
Akwa Ibom State has continued to budget for the port, which Governor Godswill Akpabio said would create employment for 100,000 Nigerians.
The NPA had also told LEADERSHIP in Uyo at the PCC meeting that the deep seaport would be completed in 2015.
When LEADERSHIP visited the proposed site of the deep seaport at Ibaka, there was nothing to show that a seaport was being planned at coastal community.
A lonely dilapidated narrow road, better described as a colonial road leads to Ibaka, from Oron. As early as 2011, the Akwa Ibom State Governor told a Nigeria Ports Consultative Council (PCC) meeting in Uyo that his government had concluded plans to dualise the road.
http://allafrica.com/stories/201312160580.html 1. Ibaka seaport is not in the FG gazette and there is zero FG budget for it.
Meaning the FG doesn't know anything about this seaport officially
2. Akpabio budgets billions for this bridge every year with not even bush clearing or fence erected.
Meaning Akpabio pockets free billions every year....but who are they blaming? Yoruba people |

docadams: The author of this article is not only a lazy ass*hole but also a myopic tribal propagandist. To blame someone else for relocation of headquarters of the IOC to Lagos is really shocking. While the SS states threw away the baby and the bathwater some other state provided a very conducive business environment for them
. I dont really know much about the politics of the seaports but how can ships negotiate the pirate infested waterways of the ND to discharge their cargoes in eg Warri port. Moreover I thought Atiku and hi intel company.was said to be the major reason why ships do not patronise the SS ports. You can not cry today that you don't have HQs and businesses after burning up other people's investments, kidnapping investors and business owners at the same time. The people in that part of the country and the SE don't know anything about governing or even ready to govern. They are all incompetent, clueless, not worldly or have any kind of personal sophistication. |

The beneficiaries, who shared their experiences with a German newspaper A-Z Online revealed how their three weeks already spent in Germany have shown that Nigeria’s economy had refused to grow because of the country’s over-dependence on oil.

IITA, Osun Move to Boost Agriculturehttps://i.ytimg.com/vi/bE5fBpSVVdk/maxresdefault.jpghttps://westernpostnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Osun-Farmers-Open-Day-2017-1.jpgThe Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola on Thursday launched a research and training farm institute in his quest to transform agriculture sector in the state.
The Research Institute which is located at Ago Owu, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun was accomplished in collaboration with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in a bid to boost agricultural production.
Launching the institute at Ago-Owu Farm Settlement, Aregbesola attributed the success of the scheme to unflinching support which the state received from the officials of the IITA.
Aregbesola said the step was as a result of his passion to get the state rid of hanger and poverty also said that the state had released 205.5 hectares of land for the take-off of the programme as part of efforts to advance agriculture in the state.
He described the institute as a “citadel of knowledge in agriculture” with establishment and challenges confronting farming and farmers would be a thing of the past.
He said the institution has the capacity to train, retrain and conduct various researches that would not only increase farmers’ yields but also expose them to modern agriculture practices.
Aregbesola said the idea was nurtured in a bid to support the existing farmers and encourage young ones into farming, saying with the scheme, a new era has begun in the agriculture sector in the state.
According to Aregbesola “the scheme was part of my administration’s six-point integral action plan to increase on the agricultural produce, improve the welfare of farmers and turn Osun to food basket of the southwest Nigeria.

Eight facts about Osun agricultural sector.
With a vision “to make Osun the food basket of the South West”, Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has so far achieved 8 major things in the vision he laid out six years ago when he took mantle of power on November 27, 2010. A holistic agricultural policy taken by the government has placed the state on the green map of the South West in a space of 6 years; making it one of the major suppliers of agricultural produce to markets in Lagos and other South Western states.

Osun people aren't stupid, Aregbe has legacies to show. Aregbe alone has more project than all your Governors, their predecessors and your ancestors combined. Obiano is the most useless village governor in the SE. He's the only governor in Nigeria rubbish around commission g borehole and his best project is a mediocre less than 2 year old bridge that's already abut to collapse.
