It is common sense to vote in a government that would make nigeria an industrial nation, which means our population would be an asset.

Or you want your country to be like china, where there are millions of men that would never get married in their lives thanks to 'birth control' that you love? Or like Japan where the elderly outnumber the young , and where borrowing is so high, it even scares the Americans...because not enough young people to pay the tax or work the factories and industries to provide revenue for the state, and pensions for the old.

DIfference between army rule and civillian rule is the constitution

Whenever army takes over, they suspend the constitution and rule by decree...which allows for the setting up of millitary tribunals, which make quick investigations and quick executions, and that is that.

When civillians are in charge, the constituon is in effect which means that even treason has to be tried in front of a court of law.

As an example...Dimka and co were tried before a millitary tribunal in 1976, and executed immediately verdict given because no constitution.

IN 1982, the chaps who plotted a coup against Shagari before the NSO ratted them out were tried in a court and sentenced appropriately because the constitution was in place...and had to be followed.

Unless you are thinking you would not be an elected president, this is how it is done.

No, we are a country with a large population that cannot take advantage of it because all our governments since independence have not supported a policy of industrialization and export of domestically produced goods. Instead we rely on oil money and then use the dollars to import, which stifles the growth of a genuine domestic industry, and by extension jobs.

If we had followed a policy of industrialization since independence, we would have been able to take advantage of our large population to become very affluent by now. And ironically, our population would be falling by now. Not rising.

Because we are not an industrial nation and also by extension because we lack a strong welfare system, having enough children who will support you in your old age is the welfare system for many.

You may have a point about the character of the average Nigerian.

But true leadership raises the standard. It doesn't lower it. True leadership rises above the failing morality it is surrounded by. It doesn't sink below it.

You may not realize it (or maybe you do) but BAT is not the right person to lead this country to where it should be. The allegations (you know what they are) surrounding him are just not what a president should be associated with. You criticize Nigerians for having low morals (and like I said earlier, you have a point there) - but that's precisely why this country needs someone with a stronger moral compass than the majority. BAT just isn't that person.

Granted, BAT is only one man. He is the president in a federal system - and Nigeria's governors, senators, HoR members, councillors, judges and LG chairs are just as culpable in the circus that this country has become. But BAT is the C in C. The buck stops at his table. He bears responsibility for key matters on the exclusive list. That's why Nigerians expected him to focus on real institutional reform. That's why we expected him to push through real public sector reform. Sadly, he has done nothing in these areas.

BAT removes fuel import subsidy...and congratulates himself about it every day...but the same BAT retains subsidy on religious pilgrimages. How does that compute? BAT 'unifies' exchange rates and crows about it to anyone who will listen...but under his administration we have the horror of a 'fictitious' government agency that has office space at the federal secretariat and domiciliary accounts with CBN. How?

These contradictions are the reasons why BAT's so called reforms will never bear fruit. He may remove fuel import subsidies, he may remove electricity subsidies, he may pass extensive tax 'reform' legislation etc. but he will ultimately fail - just like his predecessors. The so called gains from his 'reforms' will be wasted - on subsidizing religion and a bloated, inefficient federal bureaucracy.

Under BAT, this country has the largest number of multidimensionally poor people it has ever had in its entire history. That should tell us everything we need to know.

His passing was announced in an official circular dated July 30, 2026, signed by the Secretary-General of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Snr. Sp. Ap. Prophet (Dr.) Anthony Olusesan Samaye, JP, FCIHRM, MNIM, DIIHP, on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire church.

According to the statement, the cleric passed away peacefully at about 2:10 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his residence in Ijaiye Ojokoro, Lagos, surrounded by members of his family and domestic staff.

The circular, addressed to the Church Management Committee, district chairmen, conference supervisors, mission directors, church elders, zonal secretaries, ministers-in-charge of parishes, and other church leaders across the worldwide movement, announced the late cleric's "Transition to Glory and Called to Sainthood."
The statement reads in part:
"With gratitude to God Almighty for a life well spent, on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire church, I write to inform you all that our Spiritual Father, His Most Eminence, Prophet (Dr.) Emmanuel Adewale Abiodun Alogbo, JP, FNCAM, DDM, GCOMS, was called to glory in the early hours of today, July 30, 2026, at around 2:10 a.m. He was surrounded by his family members and all his domestic staff while he passed on to glory peacefully at his residence."

The church announced that daily prayer sessions will be held for seven days beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the late spiritual leader's residence located at Plot 1, Alogbo Close, off Ahmadiyya Bus Stop, Ijaiye Ojokoro, Lagos.
While praying for the repose of his soul, the church also called on members to remain steadfast in faith during the period of mourning.

"May his soul rest in perfect peace and may God grant the Church the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Amen," the statement added.
The church further disclosed that burial arrangements will be announced in due course.

Until his passing, Prophet Emmanuel Abiodun Alogbo served as the Supreme Head (Olori) of the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria and the Spiritual Father/Chairman of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide (Ayo Ni O). Widely known as Baba Aladura, he was one of the foremost spiritual leaders of the Cherubim and Seraphim movement, dedicating decades of his life to advancing the church's mission, fostering unity within the Christian community, and providing exemplary spiritual leadership.

His death marks the end of an era for the Cherubim and Seraphim family in Nigeria and across the world, with tributes expected to pour in from church leaders, members, and admirers in the days ahead

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Administration to complete the Apo-Karshi and Bwari-Kubwa road projects before the end of 2026.

Wike gave the assurance on Monday after inspecting the ongoing construction works on the two strategic road projects, barely a week after the inauguration and flag-off of 31 infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking with journalists after the inspection, the Minister said the administration remains focused on delivering all its infrastructure commitments, stressing that there would be no slowdown in project execution.

According to him, although many expected the administration to take a break after the recent commissioning exercise, work would continue until every promised project is delivered.

Expressing satisfaction with the pace of work on the Apo-Karshi road, Wike noted that the project, originally awarded in 2010, had suffered years of delays before the current administration revived it.

He attributed the progress recorded on the project to the support of President Bola Tinubu, adding that the contractor, SCC, had commenced the installation of streetlights along the corridor.

The Minister commended the contractor for the quality of work and praised host communities for their cooperation and peaceful disposition throughout the construction period.

During the inspection of the Bwari-Kubwa (Chikakore) road project, Wike reiterated his earlier pledge that the road would be commissioned before the end of the year, insisting that contractors must adhere strictly to agreed timelines.

While acknowledging the difficult terrain being encountered on the project, he assured contractors that the FCT Administration would continue to provide the necessary funding to ensure uninterrupted progress, particularly before the peak of the dry season.

Wike disclosed that inspections of ongoing projects would continue to ensure contractors maintain momentum and deliver between eight and ten major projects scheduled for completion before January.
He said the administration remained determined to sustain public confidence by delivering quality infrastructure within stipulated timelines.

The Minister also expressed concern over the growing trend of illegal street racing on newly constructed roads within the FCT, warning that such activities pose serious risks to residents.

He directed the relevant traffic authorities to take immediate steps to curb high-speed racing in residential areas, stressing that while motorists should enjoy improved road infrastructure, public safety must never be compromised.
