PoliticsRe: Minimum Wage: FG, Labour Meeting Adjourned As Workers Rejects ₦‎54,000 Offer by DeOTR: 9:25am On May 22, 2024
Yadid:
You must have forgotten that labour is one of the factors of production or that no economy can survive without adequate human capital. There's no statistics anywhere suggesting that Nigeria is overpopulated. This human capital is what Bill Gates was advising the Buhari regime the last time he came around to adequately invest in as it will drive the country towards more economic growth and development. In the face of rife corruption and mismanagement, is the number of children really our problem?
As it turns out, we are overpopulated beyond our our means. Or how do you explain the obvious fact that we can't even feed ourselves? Unemployment everywhere because our resources are overstretched.
My Dad got his first job on the day of his graduation in the 70s. That was a time our national resources are proportional to our population.
If you want to be honest with yourself, to raise for children averagely comfortably in Nigeria of today, you have to be earning nothing less half a million a month.
While I think the FG should increase the minimum wage to about a hundred thousand or above, it is very important as citizens to do our own part.
Uncontrolled explosion in population is already having its effect on us as a nation with the inherent unemployment, rising insecurity and hunger. We can't keep breeding like rats and hoping somehow money will fall from somewhere to take care of them.
PoliticsRe: Minimum Wage: FG, Labour Meeting Adjourned As Workers Rejects ₦‎54,000 Offer by DeOTR: 8:49am On May 22, 2024
Chinjo2:
In case most of you don't understand the need for NLC and TUC to stand their grounds, 54k is just N100 per meal for a family of 6 (Father, mother and 4 children for 30 days).

N100 X 3 = N300
N300 X 6 = N1,800
N1,800 X 30 days = 54k

In most parts of the country, you can't even get a plate of food for N500 talk less of N100.

This is just for feeding. What about house rent, Electricity bills, fueling, school fees, hospitals bills etc.

Hope this regime is favouring the BATarials?
This is the major problem. Why would anyone have up to 4 children in this modern era, especially in Africa where poverty is rife?
I can't seem to understand. If you need to have children, it shouldn't be more than two max.
You litter everywhere with children and never think of the consequences of taking care of them.
PoliticsRe: Minimum Wage: FG, Labour Meeting Adjourned As Workers Rejects ₦‎54,000 Offer by DeOTR: 8:45am On May 22, 2024
This is bullshit if this is not applicable in private sectors.
From my understanding, it is illegal to pay anyone below the minimum wage within the boundary of the country. How come do we still have many private organizations paying their workers (many of them, graduates) below this current minimum wage?

very insensitive, particularly at a time when banks are declaring record profits and people are being squeezed with high inflation....GTB declared ₦609.3billion, Access N619.32bn. The money goes to the office of the NSA, not Banks.

It's a misplaced priority. I'd rather they bench minimum wage as a percentage of the average salary of our legislators, even if it's beyond the current proposal.

nairalanda1:
It is resource dependency.

The truth is strong nations use what they have to make things the world needs

Weak nations just sell raw materials and share the money and import things from the strong nations.

Ghana once made 2 billion dollars from a batch of cocoa.A cocoa company in the UK took some of that cocoa and made products worth 17 billion

That Ghana will come and import?

See our problem.

Make we pass the books, hold the oil
You really have time to school people.
Buhari would have been the best president we never had if Jonathan had won in 2015, but what do we get?
A serious nation should know how to add values to their natural resources rather than selling it raw cheaply and buying it back more expensive after. Look at the mess we are in exporting crude oil and importing refined petroleum products?
Yar Adua deepened petroleum subsidy and halted the privatization of our refineries when we should actually be gearing towards refining what we consume locally.
Good things go bad slowly and bad things go worse in the same manner, but we only cry when things go completely bad.
To me, Nigeria is pretty much the same as far back as I can remember. It's just that the revenue from oil that makes the difference now.

Same idiots that can't pay people in their employ 30k monthly? Let's be reasonable abeg.
I support a significant increase in the minimum wage, but to be honest with you, 600k is too outrageous.
Something around 100k should be fine.
It's not enough to be fighting for minimum wage abeg, labor should also be fighting against the maximum wage.
At least, let them base minimum wage as a percentage of the maximum wage of any public servant, elected or appointed.
Something like, the minimum wage should not be less than 1% of a senator's take home pay for instance.

Do u know what the world father jesus use in that context? Mathew 23v9 jesus says call no one your father upon thy earth for one is your father that which is heaven, according to this verse does it mean u cant call your biological father father? However the meaning of father used in that context is clearly shown in isaiah64v8.
Pls study the bible to know better, wherever Jesus uses father is talking about is maker
Exactly the point, but you moslems denies God as father but rather prefer to be slaves.
A father is one who has begotten a child; one who gives origin to; a generator. God as Father is the great cause, the cause of all life, all being. There is only one source from which all living ideas and all living objects proceed. We call this source the Father.
You can remain a slave to whatever god you serve. Our relationship with God is that of a Father to His children.

I laugh you, I should ask if you know what you're saying? From the book of John quoted show me where it's written that you should believe in the sonship of jesus? I don't think you read john12v50 to know that believing in the commandment is the only way to salvation. Show me where God ordered Moses or isrealites to bring blood offerings if not as punishment for there misdeeds moreover the commandment given to Moses Exodus 20 from verse 4 clearly talked about laws and nothing of sacrifice was mentioned however God dismantled sacrifice in Isaiah1v11 and 1samuel15v22 says believe and follow the law and commandment is better than sacrifice
author=DeOTR post=129671884]
Anyone that sees you quoting the Bible now will think you know what you're doing.
Since you mentioned John 12:49, you have to first accept that Jesus Christ is the Son of God as stated in the text before anyone should take you seriously.Secondly, it's convenient for you to just quote a verse of the Bible and assume what it means. Of course, Jesus didn't come to abolish the Law but to teach us the right way to follow it. Which Law is Jesus talking about? If you have taken your time to read further down the verse in the chapter you quoted in the book of Matthew, you would have read his reference to the Law he's talking about (which he mentioned), not the bush shit sacrificial law of Moses.
By Jesus standard in Matthew 5, no Moslem can make heaven, so shelf the idea and face your Allah and his prophet. Even Mohammed never told you he's going to make heaven.
You must have missed this part where Jesus called God His father:
John 12:49 For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
If and you accept that Jesus is the Son of God, since you quoted where He called God His father, I'll be ready to school you after the real commandments of God and a true Christian is he that commandments of God as laid out by Christ. I'm sure you also there's no Way to God except through Jesus, so you as a moslem do not qualify.
