FG Has Not Banned Okada - Minister
THE Federal Government has declared that it had not authorised the ban on the use of commercial motorcycles as claimed by an agency of government, National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA).
Minister for Environment, Hadiza Mailafia, told State House correspondents in Abuja on Friday that no decision had yet been taken on the matter.
She was reacting to news reports emanating from NESREA, which is an agency under her ministry, that suggested that the use of motorcycles has been banned in an attempt to control pollution.
According to her, “there is no decision so far, as far as I am concerned about banning the use of achaba or okada.
“Of course, we are concerned about pollution, but we have not issued any statement to that effect.
“The true position is that government is calling on individuals and organisations of the entire polity to take care of their environment by, of course, complying with rules and regulations. That doesn’t mean you cannot ride motorcycles,” she said.
She said she did not know how the announcement on the ban came about, adding, “that’s what I am still trying to find out. I wouldn’t know. There doesn’t seem to be a reason for that anyway.” Well i pray so. |

This is a wicked act. Cutting a man from his source of income? Consciously ridding a man from his daily bread? This is so sad. I see so many okada men as they struggle under the scorching sun and heavy rain to make a living rather than get involved in unlawful acts. And now what does the FGs expect them to eat from? I feel for the Okada riders and i pity this country. Heads will start again to roll and armed robbery will increase again. Oh God, deliver us from evil!!! First it was breaking of shops and houses, now its banning of Okada riders. Let us see what's next. |

marocguy: you can visit the lakeside at the protea resort nike lake hotel. The zoo and museum which are closely situated at ogui junction wud be cul too. The new berries park,a nyc place too is situated in d museum. Since you are in udi,u can visit d awhum monastry. Has a nyc waterfall there and environs. You could stay ova if you wish. Very quiet n natural, with accomodatn. Not strictly for religious visits. Or you could go to town and hangout at numerous eateries, shoprite and exotic hotels around town. Also the local joints around town. Just have the right guide, and your fun cud be unlimited an unforgotable,an experience. Enjoy ma peaceful beautiful city! The zoo has been moved. But the museum is something else. Not because of the Museum itself, but the activities in the museum complex. For instance new berries, but not really that, There is a hang out section AFTER the museum, Some people dont know about it. spoony: Re: "Beware of kidnappers and ritualists." , do you suggest that people will kidnap me/us because of our skin colour? Because we are not rich or famous or anything that could give the wrong idea of our family having some money to pay as a ransom. We are not going into dangerous areas (Delta state, near oil companies etc) and although things can happen (my husband was robbed once in a bus) HOW EXACTLY would you BEWARE? I want my childern to see their grandparents and I think we'll be safe.
And "ritualists", I don't believe in juju or any kind of magic, I believe that we have (more less) our lives in our hands. Last time we have seen this shiran (sorry don't know how to spell it) and I went to observe it from close-up (been warned not to) and guess what? nothing happened! I'm not saying I don't respect your culture but come on! Some old superstitions are silly! Lol, how come you know about the word "Juju" Hmmm, I am beginning to suspect you, lolz |

spoony: Although we're not tourists, we're going to visit family, I'd like to ask for any tips to a interesting places (nature reservations, wonders, architecture, zoo, anything!) We'll be near Enugu (in Udi) and we do have a car. We can even go somewhere and stay over night, we're famlily of 4 with 2small kids. Any ideas appreciated! Many Thanks Well, i wouldnt say very interesting places. I've been in Enugu state since 1995. The zoo was a little bit interesting but has been moved to Nsukka (So i heard). But there are places you can visit like Nike Lake, Ngwo Milken hills, then some hang outs like Bush house and much more. I wish you a lot fun during your stay. |

pro01: I stopped looking forward to meeting online 'divas' after a few nightmarish encounters in the past. I've met 2 females from NL, and 4 from YIM, and quite frankly, only one (from YIM) was worth my time and worthy of my 'affections'. The rest were plain eyesores to say the very least. Yet you'd see how they prance about online as if they're the hottest thing God ever created. Seems only one in ten online females are 'safe' to look at in real life. Some are so ugly that you risk a heart attack if you look at them too intently; touching them would surely lead to your instant death. One of the NL girls was so black and greasy-looking that I had to wonder whether bitumen runs in her veins; such an apology. Yet her voice sounds so immaculate!
Nonetheless I look forward to meeting loads of interesting NL guys. Would be nice to have lively/intelligent/funny/heated/engaging discussions with several dudes here over cold bottles of shayo and other accompaniments. Lol, I dont blame Nlders that dont put their pix on their profiles. I once tried to initiate the putting of pix and got bursted. Although it was fun but i just felt that this is a social networking site so why the anonymity? Anyways, pele about ur encounter. It is well. As for me, i've not met any. |
