The fact that some nigerians in their right mind still defend this stupidity called cost reflective tariff annoys me. When it's time to justify wickness you make comparison with the rest of the world but when the masses demands what's obtainable in the rest of the world pertaining their welfare you simply remember they are living in Nigeria and not spending dollars.

Has power generation improved significantly? I relatively have same hours of power since 2010 in my area, yet bill is shooting off the roof.

You know the joy of it is that we are all in this mess together. How do you justify this massive inflationary effects in 10years of a particular political party's rule.

Only kids and fraudsters will not complain of this regime. To an adult Nigerian now 10, 20, 50 and 100 naira notes are virtually useless.

A country wants to bill us like the western world yet her minimum wage is less than 50 dollars. Let's all continue pretending that all is well. A big burst is coming soon.
2/3 of Nigerians are not civil servants. If you are one, organise a protest. You have a union or is everything politics to you people?

Electricity is never cheap.

Before this band A,B,C of a thing, I lived in a place that always have constant electricity in Abuja and our bill was the highest for any residential area.
Estimated billing was so high, everybody opted for prepaid meter. And no complaint. The people living there can afford it.

Welcome to the real world.
Electricity is never cheap anywhere in the world except Nigeria.
But if you go to the north, their metering is diff.
Even on band A, they pay very little.

1 cup of beans has close to 4× the protein as 1 egg at just twice the price.

Heck, crayfish at 200ngn has way more protein than eggs.
Consult your secondary school textbooks.

What made egg different is that it contain all the amino acids that make up complete protein.
You can never get it in any of our beans.
Egg is called powerhouse for a reason.

they scammed people into eating beans with the lies that it's protein. It's not like the beans is even affordable anymore anyway
Depending on the type of beans.
The type we have is still okay for plant based protein.

Soyabeans is also beans and has the highest protein so far for plant protein.

Soyabeans is cheap. The question is, do Nigerians eat or try soya beans like tofu or soy milk?

We don't have many things to chose from as what we call foodstuff are minimal. Aso, we are very poor country so we easily go for what can fill belle which are carbs like rice, yam, potato, cassava.

Long overdue.

Also, let universities set standards for admission.

If your O level is flawed, you can enrol in the university of your choice and complete their A level in the discipline or related discipline you want to study. Or get A level somewhere else in the field or related fields.
That is the standard world over
Nothing like qouta system.

The people who bypass are actually the so called rich men, not the poor ones.

Electricity distribution companies already know that. The reason their bypass team go to big man area to check for bypass everytime. Poor man can't even pay for bypass. Besides,na the same nepa officials dey do am for people.

You need to add that most American movies nowadays have a trans , a lesbian, a gay, a brown or a black in a prominent role.
My daughter is hellbent on kdrama Korean drama series . The others are happy with telenovelas from Mexico and Latin America.
Personally I stopped my Netflix subscription because of the woke shit.
I'm happy with DSTV.
I don't want to add that as it will overshadow my main point but yes, this too is among the reasons American movies are no longer gaining worldwide recognitions. Stopped watching them ages ago as they don't excite me. Even my kids don't watch them. It's so bad, actors like a whole Tom Cruise went to south Korea and join their reality show just to promote mission impossible and some other big shots in Hollywood. This started even before trump did his first term. A popular chinese drama in less than 5 months will stream billions in china, billions outside China. And I won't lie, I love their drama. They started promoting gay and the backlash was too much, the govt banned it. How will Hollywood sell LGBTQ drama and movie in china?

I will rather watch Thailand LGBTQ movie or drama than Hollywood. America will make you hate gay people. The orientation and waiting for public acceptance was too short and forceful. And they are still everybody's face like you must accept me or I will deal with you.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Trump orders 100% tariff on all movies produced outside the US by descarado: 9:46am On May 05, 2025
fritiyo:
They didn't tell you that, china has ban the showing of American movies in all their cinema's . Trump is doing what other countries are doing to them.
The problem is not even American movies.
Asian Pacific which is the target here don't watch American movies that much. Every year, the number is decreasing. They prefer their local contents.
The koko is the streaming platforms. These companies are reaching out to their English audience through America almost free. So companies like Netflix can't compete with them. Netflix don't come close to what they offer so people are fast subscribing to them and ditching Netflix. As long as you love asian Pacific dramas, you have no business with Netflix. Also they are so cheap unlike Netflix. Netflix projected gain from like 5 years and above from these countries featuring their movies and dramas but they have already cornered Netflix. So instead of gaining, Netflix will start losing if something is not done.
I subscribe to the platforms in question and I know exactly what is happening here.

You don't know what you are talking about.
Do you subscribe to Netflix, viki, IQIYI, tencent, jiohotstar and others?

If you don't,step aside as this is beyond you
I subscribe to 5 of these and I have already explained what's happening like 1 month ago before this.
If this is not done, Netflix and the rest will die natural death in no distance time. And they have been overrun by these foreign platforms in their country not outside.
Trump is fighting for the survival of American companies and these companies came to him for urgent talk before he took this action
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by descarado: 9:11am On May 05, 2025
JUST IN: 🇺🇸 President Trump announces 100% tariff on all movies imported into the United States.

I explained this either here or somewhere else not long ago.

Only people who don't understand what's happening will fault this man.

I as a consumer of entertainment know that Hollywood is fast losing it to chinese and other Asian Pacific nations as far as entertainment is concerned.
Platforms like Netflix is projected in the near future to make most of it's gains from Asian Pacific and with the influx of cheaper streaming sites from china and India, America is on a long thing.

Netflix has about 300 million subscribers while tencrnt, IQIYI, jiostar are clocking 600 million from Asian Pacific where Netflix projects to make her gains from like 5 years coming. And these companies have their English platforms headquartered in America.
So they sell their products to the world from America extremely cheaper than America that will buy from them and sell to the world.
Hope you understand the breakdown before you start your condemnation.

I explained why I left Netflix like a month ago or so and others who love asian dramas are leaving in their numbers. We have joined these Asian Pacific platforms cos 1, they are more interactive. Like a forum.
2, they are fast. Netflix comes late to the table and takes like months to finish airing as far as deamas from these countries are concerned. Not ready to wait. They don't stream.
3, they are very cheap. I pay around 200 plus for Netflix yearly. With that, I subscribe for vip or standard pass for 4 streaming platforms and still get change. Every year, Netflix is adding more money for subscription.
4, Asian Pacific dramas and series are where the fun is now.
5, you can even watch their drams on youtube. Netflix won't do that.
So why will I need Netflix.

Prime is worst.
An amazon prime member but will not go for their movies or drama. Why should I rent a drama to watch. Dem dey ment?

PressMyButton:
You needed a vessel that has her own eggs already?. You guys are mixing up IVF with Surrogacy.
A mum once did that for her married daughter.

A 53-year-old UK woman has given birth to a child she was carrying for her daughter, leading many in the media to exclaim that she 'has given birth to her own grandchild'. Annie Casserley acted as a surrogate for her daughter, 35-year old Emma Hattersley, who has a medical condition making her unable to withstand a pregnancy.

Mrs Hattersley has an extremely rare condition - she is thought to be one of only three people in the world affected by it - called Histiocytosis X. The cancer-like condition attacks the lungs, causing them to collapse, and means she is unable to do anything that puts too much strain on them such as having a general anaesthetic, flying, or becoming pregnant. In order to have a child of her own, therefore, she needed to use surrogacy. Her mother agreed to act as a surrogate for her and was assessed by doctors at the Good Hope NHS Hospital, Birmingham, who decided that even though she was 53, she was fit and healthy enough to undertake the pregnancy. In January, Mrs Hattersley's eggs were collected and fertilised in vitro by Mr Hattersley's sperm, before the resulting embryos were implanted into Mrs Casserley.

You know the problem with people like you.

Are you living in the mansion in Nigeria? How much do you make a month in Nigeria? How good is your source of income?

And who told you every Nigerian living abroad is living in a one room studio apartment and working like a slave?

The way you Nigerians back home talk as if every Nigerian abroad is washing the bum bum of a white man is so stupid.

An adult left Nigeria and decided to travel abroad for many reasons (like better life, better security, professional and career growth, dual citizenship etc.). But Nigerians back home will be castigating them as if na una give them the money to jakpa.

Stay in Nigeria if you want to stay and allow those that want to jakpa to jakpa in peace.
The thing is that even those washing the bum bum of white man is the reason many of them are surviving.
Ingrates.
Diaspora remittance was what is holding most of them together.

If Ngozi decide not to send money home or sponsor anybody, just minding her business and living large, they will still rush here and scream that she is an ingrate.
You see poverty, it's a psychological disease.

Uk this, UK that everyday.
It's only in Nigeria, you come out from school, get employed and start living in a mansion as a single.

Go to Japan and see their cubicles.

Dig out more stories against UK while the embassy says a diff thing.

We will never hear stories of how the same Ngozu is remitting money to family and friends every month. When you that is badmouthing her is sick, you will still beg her for hospital money.
Have never seen jealous people as Nigerians in my life. Don't know if it's caused by poverty.

Lesson for all, don't ever mingle with people beneath your level. Anything can happen.

Pen & paper is not even the problem.

Why did they initially refuse to properly mark her script & grade her? What level of wickedness is that?
It can be a simple mistake. Omission by mistake.
These are what you get when you use ink and paper. If it's online, her script will show error and the prof will see that immediately and make correction.
Besides, her work will be saved on her student portal and lifted if needed.
We just like to suffer this side of the world for no just cause. What schools spend using paper is triple of that school using Internet.

The world have moved on, some courses don't require exams anymore. Just assignments of so so number of words in whichever format the lecturer want. And also referencing. It's a very important part of assessment abroad. That way, no plagiarism. You can also do presentation.
Not cram and paste. Who does that these days.

You will also get feedback.

By the way, they still use pen and paper to write exams in naija universities?
