fd68: This is not true . APC is the desperate party using all sort of slander agaist PDP.To be fair, it's a double edged sword that slices both ways. The tug of war will rage on till 2015. Let them keep smearing themselves. |

I'm still trying to understand the priciple behing it and thus, the cost of it. Nigerians are creative, yes, but our naiveity tends to show itself in one way or the other.. fabraham: ^^^I tire o,if they did'nt come,how does that bring back the dead or affect her office as the 1st lady?this woman needs to be taught that she is the'mother of Nigeria' and mothers behave more maturedly than this kindergaten type of reasoning.I totally support your view. She's really biting on more that she can chew. I expect the Deputy Governor to save face and probably indicate that "He had more important matters to attend to".. |

The iPhone heatwave is set to be tuned on again. After witnessing a four-day wait prior to the release of the iPhone 5 and a 2 million pre-order on it's first day of release, Apple have leaked information about their latest products. The supposed leak from Apple points to a September 10 launch of the new iPhone, dubbed 5S as well as a cheaper iPhone which is being named the iPhone 5C. Mock-ups which claim to be the two new phones, showing phones with glass and aluminum housing, have been released. It also stated that Apple may switch to Liquidmetal, an indestructible alloy that is stronger than titanium, with an agreement already in place. The iPhone 5S will be the same size as its predecessor just as in the iPhone 4 and 4S, but will come packed with some unique features including fingerprint sensor technology (based on the fact that Apple recently bought AuthenTec, a company that specialises in fingerprint recognition technology ) on the scratch-resistant glass home button, slow-motion video recording with its 12-megapixel camera and dual LED flash, giving higher-quality images in low-light conditions. Making debut could be the addition of a third colour, gold, in addition to traditional black and white models of the phone. The iPhone 5C would be Apple's first low-end phone which would be cheaper than an iPhone 4 without having to compromise on design. Losing market share to Samsung and LG could have led to a rethink on strategy models at different pricepoints.

The All Progressives Congress, Lagos State chapter, says the Peoples Democratic Party's comment, describing Governor Babatunde Fashola as a dictator, shows that the party is desperate for recognition. The PDP had said Fashola was a dictator based on the 'deportation' of some destitute persons to Anambra State. The APC said the PDP's comment, through its acting National Publicity Secretary, was "outlandish and hollow." In a statement on Monday by the state's Interim Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, the party said having failed in14 years of "regressive politics, the PDP is clutching on to any imaginable straw to survive." The party said, "By trying to take advantageof the action of the Lagos State Government to relocate 14 destitute persons to their home states, the PDP through its Acting Publicity Secretary is showing the kind of desperation that has hit the party as it comes in full contact with the fruits of its wanton plundering of state resources to render Nigeria a huge colony of beggars and destitute. "We ask the Acting Publicity Secretary to help resolve the issues raised by the full disclosure by the Lagos State Government on the resettlement issue, which bordered on communication between Lagos and Anambra state governments on the 14 destitute persons prior to their resettlement. "Is he not aware that his party (PDP) has shipped out thousands of destitute persons and beggars from the Federal Capital Territory before he embarked on his journey of childish political profiteering?" The party said instead of raising dust where there was none, the PDP should ask itself why Lagos must take the "army of destitute persons it had been churning out after stealing hundreds of trillions of a 14-year-old oil windfall." Igbokwe said, "We are aware that the PDP is scared stiff by the emergence of the APC, the success of its governors and the potential it offers Nigerians in the face of the grand and monumental failure of the PDP. "But we want to assure this party that nothing will stop their rustication in 2015." |

A former Minister of Education, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, on Monday said Nigeria had spent over N1tn on the National Assembly members in the last eight years. Ezekwesili, in a keynote address she delivered during one-day dialogue session on the 'Cost of governance in Nigeria, " added that banks earned N699bn as interests last year on loans secured by the government. "Since 2005, the National Assembly members alone have been allocated N1trn,'' she said, while also lamenting that "82 per cent of Nigeria's budgetary cost goes for recurrent expenditure." To buttress her claim that much was being spent servicing those in government, she said that "a research conducted in the United Kingdom identified Nigerian legislators as being the highest paid in the world." Although she was applauded by participants at the session organised in Abuja by the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre with support from Federal Public Administration Reform Programme in the UK, she drew flak from the National Assembly members, who said her claim amounted to blackmail. But Ezekwesili, who was also a former minister of Solid Mineral and World Bank Vice-President for Africa Region, challenged civil society groups to demand a mini-national dialogue that centres on good governance and the the release of the Steve Oronsaye report on Rationalisation and Restructuring of Federal Parastatals, Commissions and Agencies. "There should be effective demand by civil society groups of the report of the Oronsaye report. You should also demand a mini-national transparent dialogue because it touches on the heart of good governance", she stated.... WIFE of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has said that the refusal of senior officials of the Rivers State Government to pay her a condolence visit when she lost her foster mother was the reason why she shunned the state Deputy Governor, Mr. Tele Ikuru, at the Port Harcourt airport. She said despite the fact that several groups and individuals from across the country came to commiserate with her, she did not receive any delegation from Rivers State. Mrs. Jonathan said this in a statement by her spokesman, Mrs. Ayo Adesugba. She was reacting to media reports that she snubbed Ikuru, when she arrived at the Port Harcourt airport on Sunday. The President's wife said she decided to make her visit to the state as quiet as possible so as not to give room for those who she described as mischief makers to succeed in their plans of involving her in the political intrigues in the state. She said since the wife of the state governor ordinarily receives her whenever she visits any state, that was why the wife of Bayelsa State governor came to Port Harcourt from Yenagoa to receive her. Respected Teacher, My son will have to learn I know that all men are not just, all men are not true. But teach him also that for ever scoundrel there is a hero; that for every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader. Teach him that for every enemy there is a friend. It will take time, I know; but teach him, if you can, that a dollar earned is far more valuable than five found. Teach him to learn to lose and also to enjoywinning. Steer him away from envy, if you can. Teach him the secret of quite laughter. Let him learn early that the bullies are the easiest to tick.
