Opinions will always differ. However, I can't underestimate the value of rhetorics in a write-up. It's a form of persuasion, I believe, for those who understand the function of a rhetoric, that is. |
Great job guys.. Honour to whom honour is due, I'll love to evaluate the work of Epaul, and generally, the DELSU team, which I feel is best here. Epaul, I'll have to say you're completely amazing, a blessing to your people. You surely know your onions. Your unique style of introduction shows you know we're more interested in your argument, not your identity. Your foolproof arguments and rock-hard evidences were a joy to behold. You bring something new and amazing to this debate. It's a honour to have experienced you. However, you'll need to devote a little more time to thinking some points all the way through. Those Death facts were weak. Death is inevitbble inspite of your disposition in life. And your mathematical calculations were quite befuddling. Also, the 'poor preparation/accomodation' argument needed one final nail to drive it home. One thing I'm sure of is you'll only get better.. TEAM DELSU.. Congatulations!! |
@ Boay et Fynestboi.. I can see we're making huge progress with the preparation as evidenced by the 'number of comments' in pages. However, it is now imperative that the new thread(s) containing relevant information be opened, as most of the posts contained herein are irrelevant, and any useful one(s) may have been missed. Also, I see you (Fynestboi) are intending to increase the words limit. Please, try not to. There are gonna be many essays involved and trust Nigerians. Give them 1,000 limit and they give you 1,500. I'll encourage you to stick to your 800 words limit. It's perfect. |
Chai.. I'm totally infuriated with my self for not being here.. Crystal-clear short essays that are easily to peruse assimilate.. This is presentations are absolutely enlightening. I really missed something here. Una weldone o, even as una greet judge, greet unasef, greet Iyabo, greet Nkechi, but una no greet me, I forgive una. Still, my critic eye no gree me rest. See Bleep-ups wey I observe. 1. Construct ya topic so e go directly reflect wetin you dey support without showing ya opponent own. 2. Because una just dey do 'copy' and 'paste', some of una work just resemble. E no too bam like that. 3. Which one come be bulleting and numbering of the points again? That one na dulling on top essay. Number werin you quote, not your points. 4. No dey abuse the bold option. If you use am for title, e don do. 5. We go school. If we see conclusion, we go know. You no need type am join ya essay. |
Please, I want to make a recommendation. Look into the possibility of including a 'tick box' for Following/Unfollowing beside every topic, so one doesn't have to peruse the contents of the post before following, especially unfollowing, a topic. Thank You. |
No wonder Jesus spends the night in her home anytime he visits Brazil.. |
There are just some things males don't prefer doing.. I think it's societally influenced. As for being more hardworking, greater upper body strength and more convoluted brains..their natural build surely favours the males. |
No wonder many were cancelled.. Rubbish report |
False Information |
Don't blame the FG please. It was the poorly disciplined convoy I allowed my son keep that did the deed. |
Now we all know who makes the boy go late to school!! |
It's amazing the Nigerian 'women' expected something credible. If there's anything this country has taught my youthful life, it is never to expect anything positive. Even hope is a luxury.. |
Following my listening to Jay-Z's Holy Grail where he featured Justin Timberlake, I couldn't help noticing the resemblance with Lil Wayne's Mirror where he featured Bruno Mars. Both songs have diverse rap content, Jay Z's sounded mysterious while Lil Wayne's were indeed wise words. The one thing they shared in common was the enthralling voice in between each course of rap verse. Undoubtedly, the hit-making machines in both songs were the chorus kings, Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake. Now readers, who do you think did it better; Bruno Mars or Justin Timberlake? Download, Listen, Compare and Comment.. Halle Berry.. Halleluyah.. Halla back.. I'll do ya.. #Pssst!! |
Hope the judges have the insight [as to on] how to check the quality of [the their] grammar? (and punctuations) because it's gonna be tough.Lesson: Anything worth doing, is worth doing well. |
Any parent who is being violent (or aggressive) with his/her kid[s] in the name of discipline is not sane.Hope the judges have the insight as to how to check the quality of the grammar.. It's gonna be tough. That being said, reading articles as long as that over and over is no easy task. Not to talk of putting it together.. Leave the judges to do their work without back-bites. And much kudos to the Contestants who put the articles together. I know how terribly stressful it is, but you did it. The best is saved for the organisers. Hope you get enough sleep tomorrow.. Ciao.. |
Holy Moses!! Is it every word that must be defined because it's a debate?! And everybody's quoting the bible..No Islamic peep here?? The debate is quite one-sided. Co-ordinators, endeavour to balance it next time, equal numbers of opponents. It'll be more fun and we would learn. And let them post it themselves in their reserved spaces jawe. The pampering is too much, Mother Hen. |
Mehn.. I'm yet to recover from the mental stress of that Education Section debate jawe.. The time and research demands were too much. And this hide/hide idea won't be much fun. I'll sit this one out. |
Good luck to the participants.. I'm solidly behind you all the way.. |
Kindly open up a new thread showing these preliminary fixtures, topics and the debaters for each school so they can easily plan and identify. If that'll be too much of a bother, these information have to be posted here frequently for the participants.. |
Hehehehehe.. Thank God for cheap internet access.. Orisi risi |
It should naturally be the woman's place to shop for food stuffs. But then, it all boils down to the understanding in their marriage. Different knives, different strokes.. |
Ehya.. Rest In Peace.. |
THE UGLY Too much was being scored. Focus should be on Presentation, Clarity, Logic of arguments, Command of the language and the rebuttals.. Others fall under these categories, or can't be obtained without being biased. And this event lacked publicity. It's 'front page' stuff. But 5 pages of comments/contributions is too poor. And too much was being posted before the arguments. Space reservation should have been used. We can only get better, we hope. |
THE BAD The debaters must observe the difference between an oral debate and an argumentative essay. There are certain things we don't do in an essay, which includes 1. Do not greet/refer to anyone particularly or specially. Everyone reading your article is presumably the audience. Just do business, or you may end up greeting the time keeper(non-existent) as well. 2. An argumentative essay should be rich in information. Scanty essays have little value here. You must give it all out (with references) for the audience to chew on. 3. Your command of the language counts much more than anything. If you must keep readers' attention, you have to conform and teach. 4. Do not number your points. It disrupts the flow and connectivity of the write-up. You can still maintain points separation without numbering. 5. Conclusion matters a lot. Use it to drag your audience's attention back to where you stand. Don't expect any magic without making one happen |
THE GOOD This is a really good showing. To all who made the event possible: Organizers, Judges and Contestants, may God fully replenish your efforts. It's surely no little deal. I'll want to appreciate IT BOMB's direct connection of the religion-relationship dependence. Very handy. I'll also highlight FLAMINGO's command of the language. I didn't fail to notice IREDIA's quality of research and SAKAGUCHI's evidence of a quality background in the study. In same vein, I noticed HOMESTEADY and TIMPARKER's efforts to make their stands very crystal clear.. Amazing performance I must say.. Kudos. |
This of course should not include juveniles and minors. It's not like our country is worse off. Besides it should be limited to tertiary institutions, for it's the sources that promote cheating in secondary schools |

Well.. I don't think it's the language, but the 'shortness' of the prayer. One must relate himself with the various afflictions the world suffers and pray for them all if possible. And also, God deserves your praises and glory. And whatever you wish for yourself, you should wish for others too. And also, you have to wrap up your prayers well by shielding it. Just like a gift wrapper. So, if you put this in mind and practise (pray) constantly, you'll improve. The most important thing is remembering that the prayer is for Christ. This will help you overcome your shyness and make your prayer effective at least |
