It's a double-edged sword.. Long distance and the case becomes 'Out of sight is our of mind'.. Short Distance and the case becomes 'Too much cooking spoils the broth'.. Bottom line is, Pray and Work for the courage to see through trials and temptations.

What we fail to see
To fully understand the concept of fatherhood, we need to look a little above the biological aspect of it. Realistically, anybody can be the father of a child, but it's not just any body that can be a father to a child. This is because being a father is much more than DNA tests can tell. It is more of being the every meaning of the word 'man' (supportive, dominant and enlightening) to your family members and the society at large. Thus being 'fatherless' means lacking the influence of that 'man' in such life, meaning much more than not having a biological father. As a typical Nigerian male, living in a typical Nigerian society, I've seen firsthand, the raw pains, deep hurts and devastation that fatherlessness brings to a child's life. I've seen young men and women live recklessely after being abandoned by their fathers, emotionally wounded by the men who should have loved them the most. Many of these children followed the same pattern of irresponsibility that their fathers did.
So many mothers have sacrificed so much, to help their children survive, however, they were never intended to carry that weight alone. We thank God for them, but research has proven that a child desperately needs a daddy. There's no way around this fact.
What we must know
It is important to take advantage of the priceless time you have in the lives of your growing children. You must realize how crucial your role of a father is. God desires every man to fearlessly step up and do what ever it takes to be a father to his children. Not just providing for them, but being a visual representation of the character of God, our father. A father should love his children, protect them, discipline them, and teach them about God. He should be an exemplary model on how to work with integrity and treat others with respect. He should be the one to call out his children to be responsible men and women, to live their lives for what matters when tomorrow comes. Some men will take this lightly, some will simply ignore it. But as a father, you're accountable to God for the position he has given you, and this is not a case of believing your good will outweigh your bad. You can't fall asleep at the wheel and wake up one day to realize that your job, your hobbies and preferences have no eternal value as the souls of your children. We must not waste the opportunity to leave a Godly legacy for the next generation. Regardless of the mistakes we made in the past, regardless of what our fathers did not do for us, we have to give the strength of our arms and the rest of our days to loving God with all we have, and teach our children to do the same. And to reach out to others who have no fathers and who desperately need help and direction.
What we must do NOW!
Take up a resolution. Make a decision today. To every duty before you as a father, accept and wear it as a vest all your lives.
Ask God to show you, through his word, how to be the father you need to be. Bear the responsibility for:
-Guiding your family
-Teaching your child to follow Christ.
-Protecting and providing for your family.
-Breaking the chains of destructive patterns in your family.
-Implore your child to pursue whatever God has blessed them to do.
Accept these responsibilities as a privilege and embrace it. Every good father wants the favour of God and blessings on their homes. Rise up, Take the step and Answer the call that God has given you.

PoliticsRe: Let's Appriase The Performance Of Rochas Okorocha by DesChyko1(m): 11:47am On Aug 29, 2013
Abagworo: IMHO, he has performed excellently well in tackling basic infrastructures like Roads, Schools and hospitals....
I've been in Imo since September 2011 and I second everything he said above. His tenacity in executing grassroot projects is amazing.
However, there is one area which I would not agree with him, and that is in his desire to annihilate the private schools in the state, constantly badgering and perusing the heads of the public schools to employ any means feasible in reducing completely, the attendance of students in these private school. Competition is welcome, but monopoly is dangerous, especially in the hands of previously ineffective individuals. Also, people derive income and livelihood from these private schools. This is a step too far. If we really vale education as a major player in growth and development, we must see the gaping abyss this movement is causing. Another factor is the epileptic execution of awarded contracts. Half-bread is better than none, but the way contracts speed awhile, and halt for some time really gives cause for concern as it screams disorganization.

All in all, whatever is what doing is worth doing well. He is, in fact, doing an excellent job, compared to his predecessors and some governors. There is still room for more improvement. After all, in the land of the blind, a one-eyed man is the king.

PoliticsRe: Okorocha, Amaechi, Others Should Quit If Party Is Changed by DesChyko1(m): 11:08am On Aug 28, 2013
You have a point there. But then it gives me cause to wonder. Did we vote in the quality of the governor or the party? If we voted in the party, are we accepting that the governor then must be influenced by some powers within? If we do, then we should know where the Governor's loyalty would lie..to his Godfather..and we've accepted it with our acknowledgement. I think it's best we stick with and mete out justice to the man(governor). Party or no Party.

Uhm.. We musn't judge a book by its covers. I joined Nairaland about 5 years ago.. And I must say apart from the now boring "Joke Section" and the new "Celebrity Craze", it's living up to it's expectation. Content-wise, it's loaded and up-to-date.. As for the appearance, I bet there's a reason we're still referred to as a 'developing' country.
FamilyRe: Are You Interested In Moderating This Section? by DesChyko1(m): 3:29pm On Aug 27, 2013
Well.. I'm single and have no intention of getting married anytime soon. And you can make a litany with every relationship I've been in. I'm very bad with kids..not that I'm that worse, but scaring kids is one of my hobbies and my assistance, especially on advice leaves them more confused than relieved. So, family relationship-wise, I've seen a lot-behind my nose, that is. I've really helped many people in families literarily 'overcome' their problems by learning to ignore them, and they usually have wonderful results as they divorce in peace(you know how hard it is to have peaceful divorce these days??). I also plan budgets for people, after removing my 10% share of the fund that is.. I also have many many money-making theories in stock..although, the effects and results are for you to decipher.. As you can see, the ride is midway between roller-coaster and bumpy. So, are you gonna take me-or are you having second thoughts?

**Sucker**
A mother wanted to correct her little boy who wouldn't stop sucking his thumb. So one day, she pointed to a fat man with a very large stomach and told her boy that the man had grown a big stomach because he wouldn't stop sucking his thumb.
The next day at a Supermarket, the boy saw a very pregnant woman and was starring at her totally amazed at her huge stomach. The pregnant woman got embarassed and scolded the boy,
Pregnant Woman: Stop staring at me. You don't know who I am.
Boy: No.. But I know what you've been doing that made you look that way

**MILLIONAIRE**
Millionaire: What's your name, driver?
New Driver: It's Fred, sir.
Millionaire: I never call my drivers by their names. Tell me your surname, driver!
New Driver: It's Sweetheart, Sir.
Millionaire: Drive on, Fred.

**STUDY**
Why study? The more we know, the more we forget. The more we forget, the less we know. The less we know, the less we forget. The less we forget, the more we know. So, why study in the first place?

**SINGING**
Son: Why is father singing so much tonight?
Mother: He's trying to sing your baby sister to sleep.
Son: If I were her, I'll pretend as if I was asleep.
***
Kate: I spent almost half-a-million on voice lessons, learning how to sing.
Faith: In that case, you should meet my brother.
Kate: Is he a singer too?
Faith: No. He's a lawyer and he might be able to help you get your money back.

**PRAYER**
A fan sat next to a minister in a football game. Noticing that both teams prayed briefly, he asked the minister..
Fan: What if both teams prayed with equal faith and devotion?
Minister: In that case, I imagine the Lord will simply sit back and enjoy a good game of football.

**OURS**
Wife: And another thing I want to tell you. I've noticed that every time you talk, you say my house, my car, my chair-everything is yours! You never say ours. I'm your partner. I'm your wife. It should be 'ours'.
The husband paid no attention to the wife and kept looking around the room for something.
Wife: What are you looking for?
Husband: Our pants.
