I mean the concept of self driving cars is still relatively new for mainstream use so theoritically the technology is still considered a test run

Yes when someone looks crazy we can attribute it to failed parenting, bad choices, poverty etc so that it can make some logical sense in order for our human minds to be able to comprehend, but I kid you not, things are way more than how they seem on the outside, for every action you see displayed on a monitor screen, there is an unseen software in a backend CPU powering those displays.
