Geez!!! 4 months is quite long to wear your braids for o, you might start to loose some hair if you not careful, I think the recommended duration is 3 months. Yes, you can wash it if you want to, i wash my nieces and it looks great for 3 months.

@topic
We are on the same wavelength on this, i feel exactly the same way about the way Nairaland members conduct themselves, i think is not just an age issue but mental attitude- you would be surprised at some older members acting even worse than the teenagers here.  sad sad

On the other hand, it is free world as long as nobody crosses the boundaries; everyone has got a right to an opinion and a right to express it in whatever way they want. The stand I’m taking on this is if something bothers you, ignore it or if you don’t like the tone of a particular member just ignore them

@crayola
You are not exactly an OAP yourself grin grin, you are just 22 c'mon!!!

RomanceRe: Why Are Most Nigerians Guys Feeling Reluctant To Marry? by desiree(f): 6:11pm On Jun 15, 2006
hmmmmmm----good question!!! I asked one of my pals at work this question recently and you would be surprised at the reason he gave, of course it varies for different men though.

Just to summarize, Men feel too comfortable in long-term relationships where co-habitation exist hence they can't be bothered to get married, like some would say, why pay for the cow when you can get the milk for free.

u can't just conclude like that, well i realy don't know where you're from, but generally, men from my part of the world (Nigeria- Yoruba precisely), except exceptional guys would understand. because i personally don't see that as an excuse (complexity of changing names, ) when u pay dowry uv paid for all including name.
well really it really depends on him, happy for u, but i still appreciate the fact that from u use my surname(if i were him).u said what 4??.same it's my culture

i think it has a lot to do with your cultural backgrd. and your personal opinion.
So because a man paid your dowry you must give up your life to him life- meaning livelihood as well. I would bear his name, yes fine (before God and those that care to know) but i will not go into the tedious process of changing my name as it appears on certificates, bank records, National insurance and Health records etc, that is absolutely unnecessary. If I was living in Nigeria that would be another story entirely and besides my Yoruba culture does not stipulate paying the bride price.  undecided

Nairaland GeneralRe: Questions For Aloib! by desiree(f): 7:42pm On Jun 14, 2006
There is absolutely no need for this, this is a conspiracy and should not be permitted, just like in real life people cross the line and step on other peoples toes. You girls should have handled it maturely and other Nairalanders must stop fuelling it. Haba!!!
RomanceRe: If Your Boyfriend/girlfriend Ask For An Open Relationship? by desiree(op): 7:35pm On Jun 14, 2006
@zarah

Nope, An open relationship means no comittment and freedom to date/engage in sexual activities with another person.

Polyamory is the practice of having more than one loving relationship at the same time, with the full knowledge and consent of all partners involved. The relationships are long-term, intimate, and usually (but not necessarily) sexual. Persons who consider themselves emotionally suited to such relationships may define themselves as polyamorous, often abbreviated to poly.
