FeloniousFelon: Because an Independent Biafra will support other regions such as the Niger Delta, old Bendel and Christian middle belt seccesionist quest.
I am not Igbo but fully in support of Biafra because her realisation will open the gates for us in the Niger Delta.
An independent Biafra will come in handy as both a military and diplomatic ally.
An independent Biafra will have no choice than to assert herself in the region because she will be cut off from the rest of the world if Nigeria remains one and United.
An independent Biafra will be a strategic trade partner with us in the Niger Delta and will see to the final expulsion of the fulani to their dust bowl region. Politics › Re: Independent Biafra Will Not Be A Viable Country - Stratfor Report by devindevin2000: 11:03am On Sep 23, 2017 |
kjhova: [s]The arrest in Nigeria of the UK-based Radio Biafra “director” Nnamdi Kanu last year has brought to the fore the clamour for a separatist Biafran nation. The rise of Kanu, and his movement, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, shows that unless the issue is tackled at its root, newer, more sophisticated movements among ever-younger generations demanding Biafra will keep rising.
This report does not make a case either for or against the independence of the Igbo people of Nigeria. The purpose of this report is to empirically examine Biafra, its history, its viability, the level of support it enjoys and objectively provide a case for or against Biafran secession...
Outside of the oil debate, the Biafra nation lacks the financial markets infrastructure that is required to support the economy. It would have to develop a financial capital from scratch – probably at Onitsha, a busy market town.
Currently, all of Nigeria’s banks are headquartered in Lagos. It is hard to see any of them relocating all of their operations to the new country. Just as the banks are based out of Lagos, so are the industrial conglomerates – the new country would therefore need new banks and new conglomerates. It is believed that the Nnewi-Aba-Onitsha axis will supply this. However, this assumption is very hopeful. In addition, the new nation’s borrowing costs, by virtue of its size and pedigree, would almost certainly be higher. Its bond market would be small and illiquid.
A big problem could be its currency. Proponents want to re- launch the Biafra Pound which existed during the civil war; others have discussed maintaining use of the Naira. This second option would imply entering a monetary union without fiscal union, a set-up that has proved disastrous in Europe.
The new nation would suffer restrictions in trying to access Nigeria’s 120 million+ market. Currently there are no borders, customs checks, separate administrative, accounting or tax procedures on the movement of labour, goods or services. The separation of the two states would require new border posts to be set up, and the dynamics of international trade would take root thereby eroding the benefits of a single market. In addition to attracting foreign investments, the independent nation would need quickly to establish the legal and administrative framework to promote its interests in the global market place. This would require enhanced skills and capabilities in a range of areas that are now the responsibility of the Nigerian Government. Whilst there are Igbos around the globe with these skills, attracting them to this project may prove di cult.
Much of the new nation’s budget will be devoted to defence. Surrounded by a larger and very hostile Nigerian nation on all sides, it is inevitable that border clashes will happen and Biafra will need to equip itself for defence very quickly, which will likely prove to be an expensive and draining venture on much needed public funds.
It is actually difficult to find positives in this independence story. The region has no tourist draws, no significant solid mineral deposits apart from medium grade coal. If the Igbos really want independence for political or cultural reasons, they should go for it. One cannot place monetary value on national pride. However, analysed factually, it is not the best course of action.

It seems you had Aba education like your likes and progenitors.
Is it not a shame to expect the same people you declared war on to feed you and your fuckinng Cretins?
Is it not obvious that you Igbos are nothing but Liars from pit of hell?
Is it not obvious that guys are lying about your failure in executing a war against Nigeria state by bringing Awolowo in so as to feel better about yourselves?
Who would allow his enemy to create a passage within his territory to take a food to their territory while being killed? Who does that?
France and South Africa were solidly behind you. And these countries and few others were your main weapons suppliers. Google is your friend...
Awolowo never had any stupid discussion with Ojukwu about Yoruba going into war along side you Morons?
Why would Ojukwu had such discussion with a civilian while they were thousands of Yorubas soldiers who would have certainly bought into Ojukwu's plan?
To show you how stupid you Igbos sound whenever you Morons bring in Awolowo to your failures, pls answer this question, how would Ojukwu release somebody that was sent to prison by Nigeria government and the person decided to go to the same Nigeria territory without fear of being rearrested and send back to prison? Can you see how stupid you guys are?
Banjo was in this false Predicament you and your Igbotic idiottas put Awolowo in but couldn't come to Nigeria territory cos Banjo ll be rearrested and send back to prison hence decision to stay back in the East to fight against Nigeria Army. This is reasonable enough!
And to even make you guys look stupid and unintelligent, why did Awolowo who betrayed Ojukwu prior to the war later decided to pay in a visit in the middle of the war? Why? Who ll take such risk?
Logically, since Awolowo has decided to betray Ojukwu before and during the war, why did Ojukwu allowed him to come back to the East to pay him a visit in the mist of that chaos? Who does that?
Finally, Awolowo came to your erosion ravaged region then to speak to Ojukwu about how to bring the war to an end so as to save the lives of Igbos which Ojukwu refused as usual[/s]. |

Nigeria helped by foreign powers declared war on Biafraa, killing over 5 million. All these happened despite Ojukwu never uttering a single hate speech, rather exhausting all avenues of dialogue, even going to as far Ghana to get an agreement which Gowon reneged on. So stop this Hate Speech Excuse arrant nonsense. Yomboy4ever: [s]i got this pc on Facebook and i decided to share it. Joe Igbokwe CEO Efulefu group of companies and sons Nigeria limited wrote:
"Did the Yoruba go to war when June 12 1993 Presidential Election won by their illustrious son Chief MKO Abiola was annulled on June 23rd 1993 on a sheet of paper by IBB? Did Yoruba go to war when Abiola’s wife Alhaja Kudirat Abiola was murdered in Lagos in the morning of Jun 4 1996? Did Yoruba go to war when the winner of that historic election was poisoned on July 7 1998? Did Yoruba go to war when those who killed Abiola imposed Obasanjo on them as President in 1999? Did Yoruba accept Chief Ernest Shonekan when IBB made him to head the interim government in 1993? Yoruba rejected OBJ and Shonekan because this unique race has never been slaves to public office and yet they have remained number one in Nigeria in almost everything. This is wisdom and strategic thinking at work. Those of us who have lived in Yoruba land for years should not only learn how to wear Aso Ebi, eat Ewedu soup or dance Owambe, music. We must have also learned other unique things from them like sharing property to both male and female children, religious tolerance, ethnic tolerance, transferring legacies from generation to generation. Do you know that APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s wife is a Christian? Do you know that former Governor Fashola’s wife is a Christian? We can learn a lot from Yoruba. Yoruba too can learn from Igbo in areas of thinking home, business enterprise, self-help, apprenticeship, etc. A Yoruba woman, a Pastor Mrs. Eunice Olawale Elisha of the Redeemed Christian Church of God old NEPA Road Phase 4 Kubwa, Abuja was killed by unknown persons on Saturday morning of July 9, 2016, while preaching the gospel around 5.30am. I have followed the reactions on the internety and Yoruba do not behave like the Igbo. They have been speaking but not preaching hate. They have called for the culprits to be fished out, prosecuted and punished. If Mrs. Eunice Elisha had been an Igbo hell would have been let loose. There would have been abuses and abuses. But Yoruba are not Igbo. This is civilization. This is strategic thinking. I hope our people can learn from this. Civility is not a sign of weakness. He who fights and run away lives to fight another day. To have ears is not to listen, to listen is not to hear, to hear is not to understand, to understand is not to put to practice. I know that writing this may not get me many friends among the Igbo, but it always gets me the right ones"[/s] |

Politics › Re: Nnamdi Kanu Is An Indelible Stain On Biafra by devindevin2000: 12:25pm On Sep 22, 2017 |
rexbuton: [s]Biafra is nothing. Biafra is a state of mind. Biafra in tangible terms refers to the millions of people who lost their lives in the Nigerian civil war - though mostly one sided, but still referred to as a war since both sides took up arms. Millions of people were killed because of something they barely understood, thousands killed because they were neither here nor there, destruction that took decades to undo physically and little done to repair the emotional damage. Biafra is not a territory, because it isn't recognized as a territory by the ethnic groups occupying the said area, there hasn't been a referendum , there is no provision for a referendum in the constitution, even if the people wanted a referendum, they would use their legislators to raise the issue at the Houses. Even if they are not numerically buoyant, via alignment with other legislators from other interested regions would make it possible or cause a serious legislative row that would be a burning national issue. But there has been no such move by the legislators, there has been no consultation, there is not even above 50% approval for a Biafran nation amongst the core proponents. If a mock referendum was conducted today, NO votes would have majority. Even in the aftermath of the Biafran affair of the 60s, there have been little efforts to build good relations with neighbours, instead the three ethnic groups complain that they are being cheated out of the sharing formula, forgetting that they owe their stability to the 'political minority ethnic groups' who act as buffers and now feed the nation.
Post military dictatorship, a system was worked out informally, birthed by the PDP, Zoning. Rotating the three core positions within the three 'major' ethnic groups. With president from the west, VP from north, senate president went to east. Through intra-ethnic wrangling , we saw the senate president being passed around from one individual to another within a short space of time. The west passed presidency to the north and VP to a minority, and through sheer providence, after just 3 years, power fell to the minority. In 2015, the error was corrected and power returned to the north. Following the rotation plan, as from 2020 (or 2023) we should be expecting a president from the east , either an Igbo president (or an Ibibio president or an Annang president or an Aniocha president or an Idoma president, or even an Ikwerre president if really the proponents of Biafra are honest). Though with recent happenings this looks very unlikely.
While we are suffering economic hardship together, Nnamdi Kanu arises. He claims he wants to restore Biafra. He conjures maps in his head, he abuses everyone and anyone, calls Nigeria a Zoo, abuses her government, abuses his neighbours and claims their lands. Soon he has a cult following, everyone is talking about Nnamdi KANU, the Messiah, how eloquent he speaks, how charismatic he is, how insightful his analyses are! But we are not looking at his message, we are not looking at the consequences of adopting such a stance in a country where the next person is looking at an opportunity to cheat you out of your shared portion. He claimed he had weapons, he had all the infrastructure to take down the zoo. He even abused his kinsmen who attend churches pastored by people not Igbo. And to cap it all he said he was a Jew. His followers were Jews, in fact the ethnic group was of Jewish stock. We all knew these were all fallacious at least, but we were entertained. The north, his punching bag, didn't care. Their quit notice was a strategy, coming at a time when the President's state was unknown. They fixed Oct 1st, in order to have enough time to verify if the president could continue or would abdicate. Nnamdi Kanu didn't understand this, he kept on spewing hate. The quit notice was revoked, giving the north a rare moral point, Kanu didn't relent. Going on to establish a secret service [sic] Fast forward to a few months, the government has sent heavy boots to the east. There are clashes , news and videos ? of IPOB members looking for outsiders to harass. These pictures get on the internet. Tension builds up in the minds of people, because they expect the blood thirsty northerners to carry out reprisals , they decline however. Scoring another moral point. They are 2-0 up at halftime. Nnamdi didn't see war, he doesn't understand the politics of Nigeria. The only way out of this parasitic Union is via constitutional process
In the nationalist coup of 1966, Ojukwu was in Kaduna when Nzeogwu struck the leading govt figures, without sentiment, without leaving anyone behind. He saw it first hand. In Lagos , sentiments crept in , all the targets were not eliminated, the GOC Ironsi was spared. Azikiwe was not in Nigeria. Orizu strangely did not die in that coup. In the east and Bendel there was no exercise because they claimed the Eastern premier had a foreign HOS visiting so they didn't want to risk foreign crisis. Nzeogwu later admitted that the coup was planned for the nations good, but sentiments in the south derailed the exercise. Ironsi failed to deal with the plotters. In spite of this, when the northerners launched their pogrom and the military July Rematch, killing Southerners in the North, Ojukwu urged for restraint and suppressed reprisal killings in the east. Going forward, his main issue was that Gowon was not the next senior officer, since he and Ojukwu were rank mates, that it should have been Ogundipe to be head of state. But Ogundipe had no troops under his direct command to enforce himself and thus causing a stand off between Ojukwu and the the coup plotters. With both parties been sufficiently aware of crude in the Niger delta beforehand, it didn't take long to declare a break away region. Looking at it critically , Ojukwu did not want war - though this is hard to say considering that he discarded all the advice people gave him to seek an early truce. And later in life he would go on to say that it would be stupid to start another civil war. But Kanu has been trying to start another one, endangering the lives of every Southerner living in the north. The military intervention came at a bad time, poorly executed but achieved the goal, restoration of peace and order.
For those crying foul, this is not the first military operation in Nigeria. The army invaded Odi, Bayelsa state, burning down every house to the ground, the army invaded Zaki Biam, the army invaded gbaramatu , the army engaged Shiites in Zaria, all with the same effect. Heavy casualties. And there was no official condemnation from any Igbo sociocultural group, so I don't see why they are trying to rope others into a crisis they allowed to fester. Even more surprising, a lot of them were rejoicing over the last BH attacks in Borno. And telling the world that the Hausa army is killing Igbo Christians. Why must we always tell lies? Why are we painting to the world , a scenario that isn't true? As much as I join in the condemnation of the NA for human right abuses, I also praise their actions, because if the north thought that nothing was done, they may have taken laws into their hands. The NA prevented crisis.
the solution to any problem is never conflict, because one party will always end up bitter and seek revenge. In my own eyes, the Igbo do not seek restructuring, they seek presidency. The Igbo are not marginalized. they benefit from the 3- ethnic groups system. it is an insult to refer to the industrious Igbo as marginalised. Dangote is a Hausa man, he has investments in the north, otedola is a Yoruba man, he has investments in the west. Igbo billionaires have investments in the north and in the west. Prices of properties in the north are driven up due to purchases by Igbo businessmen. Meanwhile the east is underdeveloped. These businessmen do not want Biafra, they want one Nigeria. The youth do not attack these businessmen, instead they attack neighbours and outsiders. Ojukwu wanted APGA to develop into a regional party representing the east, and someday become a national minority party, however the people sabotaged it. Peter Obi went to join PDP and since then , it has been on a free fall.
I expect the east to restructure herself first, teach your children to speak politely , establish good relations with your neighbours, study Nigeria's history, do not play opposition politics, find a position and stand by it irrespective of who is involved instead of condemning everything the government does. Hold your politicians responsible, make them speak for you at the Senate and House of Reps. Reestablish APGA, try to capture the entire southeast , then south south, then North east and middle belt. If the proper ground work is started now, by 2023, we should have an Igbo or Ibibio president. you can only win through respect and alliance.
When next you think of Biafra ,think of the millions of people who died, weep about where Nigeria would have been if those people didn't die. When next someone mentions Biafra, think about how far back it took us, think out our mates then, and where they are now. And the hate speech must stop. Until the north becomes educated and exposed enough to differentiate Igbo from other groups, we are all Igbo in their eyes[/s]. |

oneolajire: 1. I believe any group of people in a nation have a right to self determination, including the Igbos. The present unity of Nigeria is more on a forceful one rather than being on mutual negotiation.
2. Nigeria has gained independence for almost 57 years, the Hausa/Fulani Oligarchy has ruled the nation for almost 40 years, Yoruba and Ijaw ruled 16 years with only 6months for the Ibos. If truly Nigeria is one, Ibos should also govern the Nigeria while for equity sake, southerners must also rule Nig for the number of years the notherners have ruled. [s] 3. Suffice to say that Igbos forgot their pursuit for self determination under GEJ, but unfortunately, PMB didn't handle the Ibos with care, but allow the Biafra situation to degenerated into a chaotic one. Lest I forget, PMB campaigned in SE while seeking for vote and picked up the name "Okechuckwu". Does it mean PMB is not their president? Does it mean PMB can't appease the Ibos?
4. Ibos must not permit another war on their soil. They must not make the mistake Ojukwu made. He refused to make proper consultation with his kinsmen, failed to plan, didn't seek for a better military might instead, he developed local weapons, and sought for sympathy from a spectator United Nation.
5. Northern Nig is the worst affected of their dominant misrule. They have the largest cases of malnutrition, polio and leprosy infections, insurrection and insecurity and illiteracy (with over ten million out of school children). But it's pathetic that it is mainly the Ibos that have been bitterly complaining of underdevelopment of their own region. Other regions are suffering and laughing.
6. Catalonia (the people of Bacelona-the former capital of Spain) is seeking a break-away from Spain. Unlike the Ibos, the politicians from Catalonia are also in the struggle, seeking for a referendum. Politicians from Ibo land must join the struggle if they want the nationhood to materialise.
7. To be factual, Nigeria is not moving forward. No electricity, we still import fuel, poor educational system, bad roads, unemployment, insecurity, failed leadership and so on are the gains of a united Nig. If Biafra believes they can provide social amenities by themselves, I don't see any problem in that. This means they will no longer wait for Abuja to share the cake.
8. Nigeria (politicians and the northern cabals) is doing little or nothing to make her citizens believe in a united Nigeria. Ibo-land and every other part of Nigeria should be speedily developed to make people really work for a united Nigeria. [/s]

SW/Yorubas Should Not Accept Any New Posts of Security Chief By Buhari - It's A Ploy. A source have indicated that the government who have 98% all Northern security chiefs at the moment have finalized plans to appoint a SW as Army chief or Police IGP, then replace the yoruba defense chief with a new northern defense chief to make it seem like a Yoruba security chief was a key player in the massacre of Igbos in SE; as this operation is still going on. The plan the source says " is to divert the war crimes on Igbos or IPOB to a yoruba man, just as the first civil war pogrom crimes and starvation was transferred from the northern government to "Awolowo". That's why when you hear about starvation of Biafran children in the civil war, all you hear is "Awolowo" despite the policies contrived by Northerners handed over to Awolowo. That's same deja vu script set to play again." This is another well engineered plan to put another century divide between Igbos and Yorubas, for them to continue to perpetuate themselves in power. |

Onemaka urged the agitators to consider the consequences of plunging Nigerian into chaos by divisive activities.
Citing the effect of another Civil war, Onemaka maintained that Biafra agitation had failed and there was no need to restart it again.
According to Onemaka, agitators should have a rethink because people of the South East extraction are looking for ways to develop there selves.
Onemaka said, “Biafra agitation has failed and there is no need to restart it; the agitators should consider the interests of the Igbo in other parts of the country.
“We, the Igbo in Adamawa, kick against the agitations for Biafra and we view it as an unnecessary capable of plunging the nation into crisis.
“We advise the agitators to stop, so that Nigeria will remain united and they should remember that since the agitation had failed in the past, revisiting it is unnecessary.
“We are looking for a way of developing ourselves and the country while most of us have invested much outside south eastern part of the country.
“So, we want to distance ourselves from the agitation, we have lived in the northern part of the country for years and our children have studied there most of whom are graduates now.’’
