10 years and passing every year without promotion sounds almost impossible. However, I think the vacancy issue might be his challenge if for instance, he has an overall of 70% and there are way more people scoring more than him nonetheless, I thought when the current EC came in, he allowed them promote those who had been on same level for a long time and not getting promotion due to vacancy or not passing the exam. Can someone else also try seek information/clarification about this?

For some, it is time and chance. I know of people who got offers not because they wanted it but they were called for it.

A lot of us our connections are really strong, not all connections are working enough for FIRS job no matter how strong it is, it's more of luckiest people now. Hussaini said he saw people with presidency connections that recently received their APLs, imagine even presidency it took longer because FIRS started sharing APLs more than a year ago and they didn't get theirs until recently.

I tried talking to the acquaintance I mentioned earlier that his family wanted him to return to help me tell his people I would appreciate getting a job with the federal government which I understand comes with a pay cut and less stress. Since then, he's been avoiding me. Did I do wrong? Can't he just tell me he cannot? I am doing well but just that I wouldn't mind the soft life with extra benefits and job security (I just realized) comes with such jobs and now, he's cutting me off. Another important point is that not everyone has the same options. People from more comfortable backgrounds can afford to take risks at private sector roles, business, or even opportunities abroad. But for many others, those options are limited, so they go for what is stable and accessible.

And the truth is, a large percentage of people in the country are simply trying to survive. That’s why you see so many people interested in these roles. It’s not just hype , it reflects the economic reality most people are facing in Nigeria.

So the attraction is not just about the salary; it’s about security, long-term stability, and making the best choice based on one’s situation. I can also assure you that people in those agencies that you may have heard that pay low are still looking for better options but then again there is life.

Having read offer letters on here and from the only person I know that got a job with a Federal Government Agency, why is it that most offer letters do not have salary details posted on them? What makes these jobs attractive when people don't have an idea how much they will earn? For a few who has salary details, why are people eager for such jobs knowing the pay is paltry in most cases? Since I came across the thread why trying to get information for my friend who has been offered a job in Nigeria which is what his parents want, these have been my observations.

Would have thought it will be more prevalent in males considering science has shown that it can be transmitted more likely through anal sex than vaginal sex.
