Nairaland GeneralSHOCKING: 'killer' Of Lee Rigby Describes Moment Woolwich Soldier Died. by dharrey2012(op): 1:13am On Dec 10, 2013
Woolwich 'murderer' Michael Adebolajo today admitted killing Lee Rigby in a 'military attack' and  described his attempts to decapitate him at the Old Bailey today.

The 28-year-old's account of knocking down the Fusilier and trying to cut off his head led to Drummer Rigby's widow running from the court.

He and Michael Adebowale, 22, are accused of murdering Fusilier Rigby by running him down with a car and then hacking him to death with a meat cleaver and knives near Woolwich Barracks in south east London on May 22.

He told the court: 'After I struck the neck, I used another of the knives I had sharpened to try and remove the head but I was unsuccessful in this attempt.'

He went on: 'We planned a military attack which obviously involved, sadly - it's not something enjoyable, something fantastic - the death of a soldier. It's a military attack.'

When asked whether the killing was political, he told the jury: 'Jihad by its very nature is political.'

Adebolajo described the killing of Fusilier Rigby as a 'military operation'.

He said: 'No Muslim hopes to have to kill anybody, that's the first thing to make clear.

'Just as a general plans attacks knowing full well that when he plans this attack people will die, this is what happens in war, so when we target a soldier this is a similar thing.

'It's not a casual joke. It's a military operation. This is how we see it.

'To fight Jihad for the sake of Allah, it's not something that is to be taken lightly, fun or something like this.

'Those responsible for sending British troops to kill Muslims, it just so happens, those people who have influence and control over the military are the Government, yes.'

Asked if the attack was designed to intimidate the public, Adebolajo said: 'The truth is this, the Government and the British public have become aware of Jihad over the past years, a lot of people know the only reason it is occuring is because of foreign policy.'

Adebolajo denied that he threw Fusilier Rigby's body into the path of an incoming vehicle.

He told the jury he wanted to deter 'have-a-go heroes' from approaching him.

He refused to answer questions about how long he and Adebowale had allegedly spent planning the attack.

Adeboloja said he should be ransomed back to other jihadi fighters, set free or killed if he is found guilty
When asked when he had tried, unsuccessfully, to buy bullets for the gun, he said: 'I will not be specific, but it was a long time before the incident.'

Adebolajo told the jury that he had not planned to run down Fusilier Rigby with his car.

'As for the colliding with the soldier, that was not something that was pre-meditated. It just so happened that Allah caused him to cross in front of my car.'

He admitted that he was 'not 100% sure' that Fusilier Rigby was a soldier at the time of the attack.

Fusilier Rigby's widow Rebecca left the courtroom in tears as Adebolajo claimed the soldier was moving after he was hit by the car.

He told the jury the 25-year-old had moved, and was 'maybe semi-conscious, but he did not sit up or stand up'.

Adebolajo admitted striking Fusilier Rigby's neck but denied hitting his head.

He said the soldier had already been killed by the time Adebowale left the smashed car and arrived at his side.

Addressing Adebowale in the dock briefly, he added: 'He (Adebowale) struck him twice with his knife - and forgive me for speaking my brother - but I prevented him doing anymore because I said he was already dead.'

Adebolajo said he handed a letter to an eyewitness to make it clear that the events happened 'for one reason and one reason only - that's foreign policy'.

He said: 'The life of this one soldier might save the lives of many, many people, not just from Muslim lands but from this country.'

Adebolajo said he asked people at the scene at Woolwich Barracks to film him to 'make it clear to everybody why the soldier lost his life' and 'how this can be avoided in the future'.

Asked why he ran at the police when they arrived, he said: 'I was almost certain that I would be shot to death.'

Adebolajo said he had 'nothing but admiration' for the firearms officers who applied first aid after he was shot.

Turning to his hospital treatment, he said: 'I believe this country, from what I experienced, we have the best nurses on the planet.'

'They show so much kindness to me while I was handcuffed to my bed,' he said. 'In Islam we respect this, but we don't respect oppressors.'

Adebolajo told the court a number of times: 'I am a soldier.'

He also said he was shocked at how long it took for Fusilier Rigby's body to be buried.

'It shocked me to the core. I thought surely he would be buried by now, because obviously he's a soldier like myself, and in Islam we bury our deceased immediately.'

The 28-year-old told the jury that he has no complaint against the police marksman who shot him in the wake of the killing.

'When I read the statements of the armed officers, I thought maybe they thought I was going to be a jobsworth, trying to claim some type of compensation because my humerus was shattered etc etc.

'It was a man who shot me, the female she Tasered me. I have no grievance with them, they are not the ones who are killing Muslims. They are just doing their duty.'

'My religion is everything... Al Qaeda are my brothers': Lee Rigby's 'killer' speaks of how he converted to Islam at university following strict Christian upbringing

One of the men accused of murdering soldier Lee Rigby loves Al Qaeda and says members of the terrorist group are 'his brothers', the Old Bailey heard today.

Michael Adebolajo, 28, told the jury his 'religion is everything' and admitted he hoped to be accepted into Paradise as a martyr for Adebolajo today denied murder on the grounds he is a 'soldier of Allah', with the soldier's relatives sat feet away.

Asked who Al Qaeda were by his counsel, David Gottlieb, Adebolajo replied: 'Al Qaeda, I consider to be Mujahideen.

Evidence: Woolwich suspect Michael Adebolajo, who was surrounded in the dock by guards, today said he killed Lee Rigby because he is 'at war'
'I love them, they're my brothers. I have never met them. I consider them my brothers in Islam.'

He added: 'Mujahideen are the army of Allah.'

He went on: 'My religion is everything.

'When I came to Islam I realised that... real success is not just what you can acquire, but really is if you make it to paradise, because then you can relax.'

Adebolajo said he converted to Islam in his first year at Greenwich University.

When asked about his attitude to people in authority, he said: 'Generally speaking, I don't get along with them, generally. In most instances I don't get along with authority, except for my mother and my father.'

As ground rules were set out for his giving evidence, including not speaking over the judge, he said: 'I don't believe in the law.'

When asked what his defence to the charge of murder is, Adebolajo said: 'I'm a soldier. I'm a soldier of Allah and I understand that some people might not recognise this because we do not wear fatigues and we do not go to the Brecon Beacons and train and this sort of thing. But we are still soldiers in the sight of Allah as a mujahid.
Father-of-six Michael Adebolajo's youngest child was just four days old when he killed Lee Rigby, the Old Bailey heard today.

Married Adebolajo told the jury that having a wife and children was not an excuse not to fight.

He said 'Allah might throw me in the hellfire' if he 'did not fight for this reason'.

Earlier he described how he was brought up as a Christian who became a 'soldier of Allah'.

He admitted today to killing the Fusilier but denies murder, he told the jury.

He told the jury of eight women and four men: 'My parents used to take us to church every Sunday. The memory that sticks in my mind... is probably every New Year's Eve in the evening around 11 o'clock we would gather around in candlelight and read passages from the Bible.'

Adebolajo told the court that he took the name Mujahid, meaning fighter, in 2002 or 2003.

'Growing up I never did think of killing a man. This is not the type of thing that the average child thinks of and I was no different.

'When a soldier joins the Army he perhaps has in his head an understanding that he will kill a man at some stage. When I became a mujahid I was aware that perhaps I might end up killing a soldier.'

In 2010 he tried to travel to Somalia but was captured in Kenya and brought back to the UK.

Adebolajo said: 'There's a lot more to the story but I won't mention that.'

He said that, growing up in Romford, the 'vast majority' of his friends were white British, and one, Kirk Redpath, joined the Army and was later killed in Iraq by an IED.

Adebolajo said: 'I hold Tony Blair responsible for his death.'

He told the jury that he and Adebowale prayed to Allah that they would attack a soldier and not a civilian.

'To be 100 per cent, I don't believe there's a way to know 100 per cent that was a soldier, however there were some steps that we took.

'For example before we started out on that day and the night previous to that I started worshipping Allah and begging him that ... we strike a soldier and a soldier only.'

Planning: Adebolajo said today that before he killed Lee Rigby he 'started worshipping Allah and begging him that we strike a soldier and a soldier only'
Adebolajo earlier told the jury that he used to attend demonstrations 'in the hope it might make a difference'.

He added: 'I was somewhat naive.'

Adebolajo told the court that at one demonstration he was arrested and sent to prison.

He said that in his cell he realised the demonstrations were 'impotent rage'.

'In reality, no demonstration will make a difference,' he added.

Background: Adebolajo, 28, pictured in a police interview, said today he was brought up as a Christian but became a Muslim when a student at Greenwich University

Health8 Reasons Why Sleeping Naked Is Healthy! by dharrey2012(op): 5:52pm On Dec 05, 2013
While Africans and Brits have always had a bad rap for being buttoned-up in the bedroom, a recent survey has shed light on the cultural differences about our sleep habits and has shown that we are twice as likely to sleep nude in comparison to our American counterparts. According to the US National Sleep Foundation, 30 per cent of Brits said they like to drop off in their birthday suits, compared to just one in 10 Americans. But did you know there are many surprising benefits to ditching our pyjamas and sleeping nude? Check out the health advantages:

1. You will sleep better

Sleep experts often tell us that the optimum room temperature is between 16 and 18 degrees and there is a good reason for this. Thick, heavy covers may interfere with our ability to reach deep, restorative levels of sleep.

Lisa Artis from the UK Sleep Council says: 'Body temperature certainly affects sleep quality and for lots of people, sleeping naked is one way of avoiding overheating. A room that’s too hot or too cold, too stuffy or too draughty can disturb your sleep. Comfort - whether that’s the bed, the bedding or the temperature of the room - plays a large part in getting a good night’s sleep. If you’re not comfortable in bed your sleep won’t be as deep, you’ll move about more and will wake up feeling unrefreshed.'

2. It keeps you looking and feeling young

When we drop off into slumber, our bodies naturally cool down and release anti-aging and growth hormones, including melatonin. Research has shown that among other things melatonin guards the nervous system against degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and strokes.

Dr. Joshi explains: 'As your temperature drops, growth hormones are released and works its regenerative magic.'

3. It increases feel-good hormones

If you sleep alongside your naked partner you increase the levels of feel-good hormone oxytocin, which is also released during sex, or skin-to-skin contact. This special hormone not only counteracts stress, anxiety and depression by fighting the harmful effects of cortisol but it lowers blood pressure, reduces cravings and protects against heart disease. Less clothes may also lead to more sex and therefore, more oxytocin.

Dr. Raj Joshi, Medical Director to 360 Expeditions says: 'Oxytocin can be a magical hormone that as well as all the above can help bring you and your partner closer together and more intimate.'

4. You'll burn more fat

Sleeping naked helps us sleep more soundly and allows levels of the stress hormone cortisol to decrease and keeps our appetites in check. A study by the University of Warwick showed that when quality and quantity of sleep in insufficient we release the hormone ghrelin, which stimulates appetite and causes a surge in insulin. This has the knock on effect of glucose tolerance, leading to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Another recent study in the US also showed that people who slept badly were more likely to choose doughnuts and other junk food the next day rather than whole grains and vegetables.

5. It boosts your metabolism

As well as many other things happening in our bodies as we sleep, going nude allows our bare skin to absorb more nutrients and accelerates the repair process to the skin. An uninterrupted airflow will also allow the sebaceous glands to work best, releasing sebum and allowing skin to regenerate. This helps to boost the metabolic rate of the body, which also helps us lose weight.

Dr. Joshi says: 'If you increase your metabolic rate by sleeping naked, this can burn more calories and help you lose weight.'

6. It Increases confidence

Feeling the cool sheets next to our skin and being naked every night in bed can make us feel sexier and more confident in our everyday lives.

Dr. Joshi says: 'If one feels more confident this can have other added benefits such as improving your job through better interaction at work and a more fulfilling social life.'

7. It boosts circulation

Cuffs and waistbands of pyjamas can sometimes restrict circulation so by shedding the extra layer you will allow blood to move more freely around your body, helping with health conditions such as chronic constipation and lumbago.

Dr. Joshi says: 'Good circulation is important in keeping all your muscles and vital organs healthy by improving delivery of essential nutrients and oxygen to your body's tissues.'

Not only that, without the restriction of clothes, your body is more relaxed. In one study, insomnia sufferers slept better when they were naked as it had a calming effect on them.

8. You'll be healthier down there

This is great for men because it has been proven that keeping the testes at a good temperature improves fertility, while for women being naked increases airflow to the vagina, allowing it to stay dry. While its normal to have yeast and bacteria down there, a warm environment can sometimes cause an overgrowth, leading to a yeast infection.

EducationGive Our Father’s Legacy Back – Fakunle Family Tells Governor Aregbesola by dharrey2012(op): 12:04pm On Nov 09, 2013
The family of the late Reverend Timothy Adetunji Fakunle, who founded the Fakunle Comprehensive High School in Oshogbo, has asked Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State to return the school to the family. The school has been embroiled in a controversy after the state government’s recent decision to reclaim its site and turn it into a Shoprite store.
In a recent letter to the governor, signed on behalf of the family by Victor Fakunle, the family said its members had discussed the state’s new education policy and had resolved to keep the legacy of their father rather than leave it to the Governor's idea of a commercial project.
A few months ago, it emerged that Governor Aregbesola intended to demolish the Fakunle Comprehensive High School and devote its site to an extension of the Shoprite Mall planned for Oshogbo, the Osun State Capital. Sources in the state stated that the Shoprite business belongs to Bola Tinubu, Governor Aregbesola’s political godfather and a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, other sources in the state allege that the Osun State Governor’s plan for the space now occupied by Fakunle School was to develop a motor-park. What is no longer in doubt is that the school has been slated for demolition.
Last February, students of the school held public protests against the planned demolition that closed the major road in Oshogbo. In solidarity with the protesters, the alumni of the Fakunle High School also voiced their opposition to the idea. In September, when the state transferred all teachers out of the Fakunle School, parents and other stakeholders thronged the premises of the school to retrieve all effects they had donated to the school. The removed items included roofing sheets, note boards, and a variety of appliances.
When schools resumed in October, the Baptist school shut its gates against new students reassigned to it from other schools following the state policy of merger of schools. The Baptist fellowship followed the closure with a protest.
In a follow-up, the Osun State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) wrote to the governor protesting the idea of merging faith-based schools. The group asserted that the merger was likely to nullify the moral and doctrinal sanctity of faith-based institutions.
Some alumni of the school, who gathered at the school premises to discuss how to save the school from demolition, were arrested, SaharaReporters learned.
At an education stakeholders’ meeting on September 28, 2013 at the Salvation Army Middle School in Oshogbo, the state’s Deputy Governor, Grace Titi-Laoye Tomori, claimed that the Fakunle family had approved the state’s plan to use the site of the Fakunle School for a different project.
“State officials brazenly lied to us, telling us that the family had approved what the governor was doing,” said an alumnus of the school.
SaharaReporters learnt that the Fakunle family had not approved the state’s plan. A source told our correspondent that Governor Aregbesola later tried to persuade a member of the family to back his plan. At a belated meeting with the family, the governor reportedly apologized for not making contact with them before making public his plan to demolish the school. He also claimed that the demolition was to pave the way for some “developmental project” he failed to specify. A source at the meeting disclosed that the governor’s effort to win the family’s backing was a woeful failure.
In a recent letter to the government, signed by Mr. Victor Fakunle, a pastor, the Fakunle family stated that the school was a legacy the family would not release for demolition.
Citing its prime location, the family insisted that the school was ideal for the governor’s much-hyped policy of mega-education. The family added that they were willing to take over the school, insisting that there must be no tampering with their father’s educational legacy. The family asked Mr. Aregbesola to commence the process of returning the school to the family.

PoliticsThis Is By Far The "Bloodiest" Regime In Nigeria by dharrey2012(op): 7:02am On Oct 05, 2013
Please take a minute before reading this to reflect on the
numerous deaths since the Nigerian 2011 Presidential
Elections
2011 NIGERIAN ELECTIONS As to what was
recorded in Nigerian history as one of the fairest
elections ever held, there is no gain saying that this was
also one of the bloodiest in our history...even till date,
the deaths keep piling up in the 10s and 100s. Death toll
slightly went past 800 in 12 of the Nothern states in
Nigeria as a result of post-electoral crisis of the 2011
election that confirmed President Goodluck as
winner. To this end, as to what many members and
supporters of the now-troubled P.D.P called a bold step,
May 11, 2011., President Jonathan appointed a 22-
member panel to look into this act of inhummanity and
injustice perpetrated by a supposed anti-government
fraction. As at the time of writing this article, 23:24 (6th
of October, 2013) the panel is yet to decipher what went
wrong back then.NOVEMBER 4, 2011 Barely 6-months
of resuming office, not less than 67 people were said to
have been killed in Damaturu and Potiskum by a
terrorist sect based in Nigeria, the United Nations
Security Council responding to this on Saturday
November 6, 2011 was quoted as condemning this
attacks in the strongest terms. The U.N however
underlined the need to bring perpetrators, financiers and
sponsors of such irreprehensible acts of terrorism to
justice.
JANUARY PROTEST Our president gladly welcomed
us into a new year with a fuel price hike. A necessity in
a country that survives soles on fuel -electricity in
homes, automobiles, factories- basically, every Nigerian
is affected when it comes to fuel...needless to say that
this protest was one of the largest of any civil rights
movement in Nigerian history. I would be unfair not
mention the Nigerians that were killed due to this
movement.
SUNDAY 3RD JUNE, 2012 Another history in the
making, as this day in history recorded the second
deadliest plane crash on our soil in Nigerian history
when DANA AIR FLIGHT 9J 992 crashed. 153 on
board, 153 dead...no survivors, mind you, till date, we
cannot say in simple terms what went wrong with the
plane and DANA airlines is now fully operational.
*Nigerians wont also forget the helicopter crashes, also
the flight that ended the lives of Azazi, Patrick Yakowa
alongside four others.
STUDENT DEATHS Anyone who by mistake forgets
the slaughter of four students in Aluu community would
have committed a huge crime against life itself. Those
students were butchered as far as I am concerned.
September 2013 was also greeted with the deat of
estimated 50 students in THEIR SLEEP!!! Also by a
terrorist sect. Countless NYSC members also lost lives.
Most recently, the crash in Lagos State carrying the
corpse of former Governor, Olusegun Agagu and others
which was solely the inspiration behind this post!
Throughout all of these killings, deaths, crashes and
mishaps, President Goodluck Jonathan has been quoted
as "extending condolences to families", "personally
visiting sites", "attending burials" and most importantly,
he has repeatedly promised to fix the situation.
Recently, I heard him say -"This Administration under
my leadership will not fail" We have witnessed so much
deaths in this period of a supposed GOODLUCK
administration.
Regrettably, lives lost can never be recovered and even
Painfully, this same man goes about proclaiming he
would be the "Most Loved President" Nigeria has ever
had, so then I am left with asking Nigerians nothing but
questions.
WHERE IS THE LOVE FOR THIS MAN COMING
FROM?
LIVES LOST, BROKEN FAMILIES, DEAD HOPES
AND PROMISES, WHAT WILL HE DO TO BRING
THEM BACK??
WHAT HAS THIS MAN DONE TO AVERT FUTURE OCCURRENCE OF THE SAME EVILhuh
WHO WOULD LOVE THIS MAN??
I really need to stop "tearing up" writing this piece.
May the souls of the departed Rest in Perfect Peace. Amen.

EducationOsun Government Reassigns Students To Different Schools by dharrey2012(op): 11:03am On Oct 03, 2013
Parents of school-age pupils in Osun State were today gripped by panic as the government told students that they would be reassigned to different schools upon resumption of classes. Earlier, the state government had postponed the resumption of schools by two weeks, stating that it was reforming education. The postponement expired today.

Students showed up at their old schools today and were greeted with new lists of their assignment to different schools. The government ordered the students to begin moving their personal effects to their new schools. Numerous parents said they were distraught that their children poured into the streets, trying to locate their new schools. Some of them carried their chairs and desks.

“This is a crazy policy,” one parent said. He added that the so-called education reform was part of the state education board’s efforts to cover up Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s disastrous decision to convert Fakunle High School into a site for a Shop Rite mall. Several critics of the government’s policy accused the governor of acting in the interest of his political benefactor, former Governor Bola Tinubu, who is reported to be the owner of the proposed mall.

One source stated that the “reform” idea came up after alumni of the Fakunle High School as well as other stakeholders criticized the decision to demolish the school for either a Shop Rite mall or a parking space.

“The reform is an after-thought. Alhaji Aregbesola called it reform, and began reshuffling students after his plan met wide condemnation,” said the source. Students of the school had protested in February against the state government’s plan to demolish their school and convert it to a mall.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that alumni and other donors had begun removing various items they had donated to the school after it became clear that the government would go ahead with its plan to transform the school into a business site. Earlier, the government had taken to television and radio stations in the state to deny that it had any plans to convert the school to a mall.

SaharaReporters learned that some missionary schools in the state had threatened to shut their gates against new students displaced by the government’s redistribution plan. Our correspondent said some schools actually shut their gates today, even though the government had postponed resumption by two weeks to address the school heads and other stakeholders.

“If [Governor Aregbesola] meant to do education reform, why is Fakunle not mentioned at all in the entire list of schools so reformed in the state?” asked one of the critics of the government’s controversial moves. He added: “The state government has completely removed the school from existence at all,” alleged an alumnus of Fakunle High School.

Some parents alleged that the government’s unannounced redistribution of students caused them great anxiety. They said they panicked when their children were late to return home at their usual time.

One of the parents, who is a retired soldier, said he was infuriated and could have acted dangerously when he did not see his children at their usual school premises. He said the principal had intervened and explained that his children had been redistributed to other schools. “They now need additional thirty to forty-five minutes to reach their school and the same amount of time to return home,” said the parent.

Several sources told SaharaReporters that no students were assigned to Fakunle High School. The school’s former students were told that they no longer belonged there. “That confirms Aregbesola’s plan to use Fakunle High School for servicing the interest of his political godfather,” said an alumnus of the school.

emiye: You are confused !, if they have not been providing for labs and other facilities in schools before , it cant get worse, but only better, now the students are gradually moving from the ramshackled "poultry house" kind of school to upgraded and decent buildings, you have no proof that labs are not built and equipped in the new high schools, you are just foaming in the mouth, a typical error in reasoning common with half baked graduates like you. you have no proof that primary school teachers will now teach class 7-9 students. Also students in the elementary school are now properly fed once in a school day. I am aware the state govt is on a recruitment drive for additional teachers (Osun state Tescom), ( https://www.nairaland.com/1189513/osun-state-tescom-recruitment-2012/5 ). Osun state has witnessed a sharp increase in enrollment of kids in to public schools, and it now LEADS in Nigerias school enrolment ( https://www.nairaland.com/1426263/osun-leads-nigeria-school-enrolment )

I am not getting the point you are trying to make, it seems you are confused, If the state govt can provide labs and equipments for 200 students , it can also do that for 1,000 students.
The issue is dey av nt bn providing for 200, how wil dey provide for a thousand. Av u ever visited any public skul in osun state at allhuh??. Must ppl r just graduates who doesn't even knw wat education is.

He built new schools they said he should improve facilities, he improved it, yet they are complaining that his new system is wack, i guess this why smpeople dnt progress, dnt you know if you try smthing for so long and it doesnt work, change is definietly what you need, please remove that hatred from your eyes and see the good things he is doing! Am leaving osun for lagos now, the fear of the lagos-ibadan road is affecting me, mr president awarded the road sometimes ago but still the sam state! Is that how we want to live the rest of our life! for me the answer is NO! God bless APC
Lolz........see dis guy oo! He doesn't even stay in Osun.
Were u in osun wen we voted out PDP...........No!
Well u don't stay in osun so you don't knw a thing bout osun at all. Stop making this look lyk politics, its not. Its "my governor isn't doin wat I voted him to do".
I voted for Aregbe, and am disappointd. That's all.

hercules07: Can you mention the roads that were provided by the former government? Please note that I visited Osun state almost every two weeks during Oyinlola's time.
You can see the hatred seeping from people on this thread, Osun state has not done anything wrong, it is still 6 years in Primary and 6 Years in Secondary, the change is only the way the students are housed, there is nothing the government can do about it, the curriculum remains the same and actually, the State Governments are in charge of both Primary and Secondary schools (except for Federal Government ones).
Thank God u just mentioned dt u visit frequently. I stay in osun.....and next time u r in osun pls honestly interview 5 ppl on the street wat they think bout this administration. One thing I can never do is to hate a system, but if something is wrong, there is no crime in pointing it out.
Well on the roads constructed, if u were in osun state prior to 2005 u will notice dt all roads leading to osogbo weren't in good condition and all osogbo township roads were single lanes, oyinlola administration constructed akoda/gbogan-Osogbo (dual lanes) and Iwo/Osogbo roads, am sure u will b familair with dese two roads. Honey comb of oyinlola constructed 10roads in each local goverment area (three roads leading to my area where constructed)
There is no government that has bn in osun who hasn't constructed many roads From Bisi Akande to Oyinlola so pls get ur facts right bro.

tobex_23: who says the school is far from the students, why didnt you mention that of feeding the primary students, osun has the highest number of elementary enrollement in nigeria, yet he is catering for them all, why didnt you mention that of the free uniforms? He provided free uniforms for all of them! You talked about teaching aids!? Have you been to the schools? If no then you have no say! He is also planning on free transport for them! Is it the roads? The link roads, the new bridge, the massive demolitions along osogbo road the stubborn PDP secteriat that does not want them to demolish thier entrance! Why shouldnt i praise a working system!!?
Now I knw y I shldnt argue things out wit ppl here. Can't u see dt am particular bout this new system. I just gave u ques to answer and see the way u replied. Can't u see dt u don't make any sense at all. How will d system work with so many issues on ground is my ques....... As a matter of fact, my mother is a teacher in Osun public skul.
Bout him giving uniforms, do u knw dt all students across all skuls av identical uniform (what is a school uniform?) Also av to pay #1,950 to replace the one given to dem wen it gets old. Av u forgotten previous administration also feed pupils?
Av u forgotten so fast that the previous governments provided a whole lotta of roads in d state too (2ru honey-web system).
Am an advocate of good and visionary governance not one who politicize every move with mere propagandas. I don't care whether its APC or PDP.
DIS JUST TO ENLIGHTEN U!!!!!

tobex_23: ogbeni aregbesola is a crazy man, see as he dey mess PDP!! I so love this man! God bless him for what he is doing!.....at the programme right now, he used 14.76billion naira to build new elementary, middle, and high school! And i must tell you the buildings are worth it!! Ode-omu,alekunwodo...the list goes on! God bless this man and God bless APC!....
Do u knw that many skuls av bn merged? Do u also knw dt with this system number of sec skuls av bn reduced? How bout students trekking miles to get to their new skuls? What of pry skul teacher who don't av stuffs at all av bn moved to sec skuls to teach secondary skul students?
Do u also realize dt its not bout building blocks with no teaching aids or learning facilities (What are d difrnces betw private skuls and public skuls) y do dey av better students and results?
Find answers to all dis ques before praising a system.

geeez: As long as the students will be adequately prepared to sit for WASC, UTME, SAT, TOEFL and other national and international examinations, then it's a step well taken

God bless the State of Osun
Howhuh?
Do u even understand the system for u to assume a success of it.
We are talking about 2000 ss1-3 science student in a single skul. How do u provide labs and other equipments? Schools a'rnt just building blocks of classrooms but content of those class room.
EducationRe: Osun Begins 4-5-3 Educational System, collapses Pry, Secondary Schools by dharrey2012: 3:10pm On Oct 02, 2013
For those who doesn't understand d system; according to the government, its divided into 3.
ELEMENTARY- dis comprises of pupils for pry1 to Pry4
MIDDLE- student for pry5 and pry6 + Jss1-Jss3.
SENIOR- ss1 to ss3

So the government has merged pry5 and pry6 of primary skul wif secondary skul. They also created new High skuls by moving away students in junior sections of dos skuls. In osogbo there are only 3 senior skuls for thousands of students. With this system, there is no pry 6 certificate any more and am not sure there is gonna b common entrance exams too.
The government is just totally Confused.
EducationRe: Osun Begins 4-5-3 Educational System, collapses Pry, Secondary Schools by dharrey2012: 2:58pm On Oct 02, 2013
All these governors just keep getting it wrong. The problem with our education is not the 6-3-3-4 system, but people in charge not making it work.
Y didn't d governor try to make it work instead of creating confusion. No computer rooms, no laboratories (science students don't know what a test tube is). Now he is merging all high schools. How do u provide enuf labs for over 1000 science student in a single skul that he has now. Students will av to trek miles to get to their newly merged skuls (osogbo only has 3 senior skuls)
I av noticed that most people who praise dis governor's polices are nt based in OSUN state.
Pls if u r nt in Osun to av a first hand experience of all dis negative polices, shut up.

EducationAregbesola To Demolish Fakunle Comprehensive High School For Shoprite Mall. by dharrey2012(op): 8:16am On Sep 24, 2013
Alumni, parents and other education stakeholders in Osun State have begun to remove items they donated to Fakunle Comprehensive High School in Oshogbo, following allegations Governor Rauf Aregbesola plans to demolish the school and replace it with a “Shop Rite” mall.
They allege there has been a long battle with the Aregbesola administration over the plan, saying that the governor is serving the interests of his political god-father, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to provide prime space for him to extend Shop Rite, a business he is said to own, to Oshogbo.
An alumnus of the school told SaharaReporters that Mr. Tinubu’s interest is what is behind the troubles.
“Of all locations in Osun State, only the center that Fakunle High school proudly sits on since over fifty years is what Tinubu wants. Why not develop other areas to stand his business?” alleged the Alumnus.
In February, there were pockets of protest by senior students of the school asking Mr. Aregbesola to change his mind on the alleged plan.  However, Osun State Government officials subsequently denied the plan on television, as a result of which normal activities resumed in the school.
But the crisis soon resurfaced as the State Government through its education department sent out transfer letters to teachers of the school and released a list by which it distributed the students of Fakunle High School to other schools. By the new list, some of the students now have to cover more distances to learn.
“There are only few schools in Oshogbo. Instead of Ogbeni Aregbe (Mr. Aregbesola) to create new schools and renovate old ones, he is demolishing existing ones to please some few interests,” one parent said.
“Why will anybody want to convert place of a learning only to create a parking space or mall, when he should create more schools?” asked one parent who spoke in confidence to SaharaReporters.
Occupying about space about one kilometer long, Fakunle High School is said to have been established by Reverend Pa. Ade Fakunle in 1956, and has produced persons of high status in the State.  In 1975, the Osun State Government took the school over from the missionaries.
Since information leaked that the administration of Governor Aregbesola intends to demolish the school, stakeholders have been mounting pressure on the governor to reverse the alleged decision.
In a related development, other missionary schools in the State have threatened to shut their gates in protest if the government goes ahead with the decision, prompting the government to shift resumption of all schools by two weeks to enable it re-work the idea.
An official at the education department refused to comment on the allegation that the school would be converted to a shopping mall, but confirmed that teachers were being posted across schools in the state in line with a “reclassification of schools” model by the government. The students have also been planned for distribution to other schools.
The official said that the government was carrying out a reform in education by which schools in the state are now categorized into three phases of Basic, Middle and Senior Schools respectively. According to the plan, pupils from Primary one to four are in the Elementary School; those from primary five to six as well as junior students from JSS one to three are now said to be in the Middle School, while students from SSS one to three are in the Senior or High School.
One teacher told our correspondent that the new reform means there are now only three ‘High Schools’ in the entire Oshogbo, and only one in Ede, another town in Osun State.
The teacher confirmed that they all have now been transferred out of the School and the students distributed to other schools.
He said all teachers and students will resume in Oshogbo Grammar School, where their various new schools will be announced to them. But Fakunle High School will no longer exist, as the students have been shared to other schools.
It is this development that has led parents, alumni and other stakeholders to begin the removal of roofing sheets and other items which they said they had donated to the school.

bloggernaija: This sounds like the rant of a jobless PDP ex councillor.
No more money to share

The people on the ground think otherwise.
He is attacking the essence of the unified uniform by giving crime as one of the arguments against.very useless argument
Reason :affordability because of uniformity .
I won't bother myself with the rest of your baseless rant.

However ,there is an undisputed fact, this man has done or is doing more in 2 yrs than what most governors have done in 8 yrs.
Arguments like dis one is one good reason y ppl belv most literates are ignorant.
these are are facts and u r here attacking my personality! Its a pity!!!!
Well, if u r a graduate, am nt surprised dt u don't knw wat a skul uniform symbolizes. I can't belv u can come up wit a lame argument like uniformity makes it affordable. These material are not sold in markets dude, government shipped them in. Education sector is sensitive, u don't lose the real idea behind uniform while trying to impress and cut cost, get that right!!!
Last time I checked, materials used for all dos uniform public skuls wear doesn't cost more dan 100naira per yard!
PoliticsRe: Italian Palm-Oil Company Relocates To Ile-ife, Osun State. by dharrey2012: 3:52pm On Sep 18, 2013
Until the day Nigerians stop celebrating "ignorance" and start to embrace true accountability from our leaders, I don't think Nigeria will experience real progress that we are clamoring for. I just wonder how even educated among us allow dis politicians to blindfold us wif their swt words.
I stay in Osun and I must confess, most of what u ppl who are outside d state read are mere political noise and propagandas. Am nt an Anti-Aregbe, but truth is there for us all..........here are few list of things I observed;
1. Av never seen any of the "opon imo" wif any student in Osun (av lived all my life in d state).
2. How on earth will u call policy of giving dsame/identical uniform to all secondary schl student progressive wen the actual I idea behind uniform has bn removed. Uniform is for identity, to difrntiate. If any student commits crime nobody can identify d skul responsible......just imagine all workers( doctors, nurses, engineers, pilots, cleaners....etc) wearing same uniform.
3. The biggest issue here is the local government election. No LGA in osun has any elected chairman. The state government only gives peanut allocation to dem coz dey control dos caretakers. In my LGA, the chairman complained that dey only give den 1/5 of their real allocation. Which acc is all dis money going to. NOTE: it runs to millions of Naira every month.
4. Heft tax on ppl who barely makes enuf money to feed their families per month. what happens to the tax we pay on PHCN bills and other services we pay for.
5. Even infrastructures the government claims to be building are nt as much as we had it in previous regimes. 4years ago, there was constant water supply in Ile-Ife (in my area, everyday). What has happened to that within just for years that the whole system collapsed and d government is giving the contract for rehabilitation out as if it wasn't functioning before the goevernment came to power.
6. Even the feeding of primary skul student was in place before dis regime. It was more effective den.
............The list is endless.

They just keep re-packaging same old system for us.......and we ignorantly praise dem for stealing our money.
I will love it if anybody can tell us just one developmental policy or thing dis government has introduced dt d previous government didn't.
