Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, who made quite an impression in his break out role in the 1997 movie, Agony, has raised the alarm over what he called the rising incidents of homosexuality in Nollywood. The 52 year-old actor famous for his hilarious roles made this disclosure in a recent online interview with GoldenIcons TV in Houston Texas, US. Okafor was not afraid to freely express how he felt about any given subject as asked. He noted that the Nigerian movie industry was being plagued by twin viruses – piracy and homosexuality. Mr Ibu, as he is fondly called, said, “I am sorry if my friends are involved. It is a virus and it is killing our industry. If there is any way in this world that people can make them stop it or kill it, please do it. God will punish you, because God did not advise you to do it. God designed woman and dashed us for free,” he stated. This is not the first time that the actor who once worked as a refrigerator-technician, factory worker and photographer will be outspoken about this issue. In past interviews, he has been quoted as strongly opposing it. In another recent interview he said, “I have had experiences, but I would prefer not to mention names at this moment but to let sleeping dogs lie. If you are one, as I always say, and you don’t want to let go of that act, keep doing it but God is watching because the industry is getting spoilt. We are not happy. It’s not in our culture, just like nudity because it’s not acceptable here. It is foreign. “We should be able to learn from our mistakes. Well, right now, I am just pleading for divine intervention. Look at our films these days. You go to the market, you’ll see them being sold like (sausage roll). Some don’t even get to the market because of the sexual appetite of some of the people who shot the movie. The evil spirit operating in them will not allow it make progress or go far. It is sad I tell you.” |
Another protester, Nai'u Muhammed, said he believed people were deliberately trying to instigate Muslims into violence through criticizing the Prophet Muhammad. |
Another reason why I am a strong proponent of Abortion.. Especially for teenage mothers Majority of the cases of abandoned babies in Nigeria are children of teenage mothers.. Our society dosent even make it easy for a teenage mother and its not like we take care of the children in the motherless babies homes either.. Legalize Abortion & Marijuana
u claim to propagate tradition nd culture ... Are these tin u mentioned above part of our culture nd traditionz? |
afam4eva: The bolded is an insult to Charles Novia. WTF is Kunle Afolayan? When did he start making movies that makes him better than Charles Novia who's been in this business for a long time now. The only person i respect there is Tunde Kelani and to a lesser extent Jeta Amata but not Kunle who's stilla newbie in the business.abegi .... No be hw far nah, na hw well .... Cos he had produced 100 movies b4 afolayan doesnt makez him betta |
afam4eva: THoise countries are not part of project fame west Africa because they're not English speaking country. I think MTN, Ultima syudios or whoever is responsible for selecting contestants should make sure there's a level playing field. I also hate the fact that they make the contestanst from Ghana, Liberia and Seria Leone to sing Nigerian indegenous songs instead of their own indegenous song. I don't think that's fair.they av d right to reject d songs ... The Ghananian dude sang a ghananian song ... I dunno 4 d oda countries ... Buh dey can all reject the songs given to dem |
afam4eva: I think the name should just be changed to Project Fame Nigeria because it's a shame that Nigerians make up more than 60% of the contestants and they always end up winning. No need deceiving ourselves that it's a west African thing. They should just take a cue from West African idols.it was ultima studios who brought the iniative .... M sowie, datz jst d way itz done .. Cos wen project fame africa(which was then sponrored by mtn) was still on ... It was being hosted in south africa ... Southafrica had more slot than other african countries |
welcome development ... Some jobs would be created |
NorthSharp: The gross insensitivity shown by the hotel management clearly smacks of racism and prejudice against a guest that has been a victim of crime.you were xo spot on .... This is gross insensitivity |

How ever, i think the organizers will do some cheating so musulyn will be among the final four cos she's the only non Nigerian left. what's the essence of calling the show MTN PROJECT FAME WEST AFRICA when only Nigerians are finalists?sure ... Buh a non-nigerian is nt winning anytime soon |

Pandemonium broke out in Ogunrun-Ori, Ogun State a community along Lagos- Ibadan Expressway, last Thursday when the pastor of a church in the area, Emmanuel Igwe, and his members allegedly attacked a man with a machete. It was learnt that Igwe, the presiding pastor, Freedom Power Assembly, led members of the church to batter Waheed Kamorudeen whose residence shares the same fence with the church after he went there to complain about the intensity of the noise emanating from the church. Eyewitnesses who spoke with our correspondent said Igwe and his church members bundled the man into a waiting vehicle and took him to a secluded place where they allegedly beat him up and inflicted machete injury on his head. A resident who identified herself simply as Christiana said Kamorudeen, a 28-year-old carpenter, was attacked by the congregation. Christiana said, “The noise pollution from the church has since been a lingering problem in the community. But Kamorudeen is the worst hit because his residence is the closest to the church. “That day, he actually went to the church to complain about the noise while they were holding an evening service around 8:45 pm. When they didn’t lower the noise blaring out from the speaker, he angrily banged the church’s door. “As a result of this, the church service was abruptly ended and Igwe together with his church members pounced on him and gave him the beating of his life. They subsequently tied his hands and legs and bundled him into Igwe’s car. They later drove down to Community Road, the next street from here.” Christiana said when the landlords in the area learnt about the incident, they rushed to the scene but could neither find the victim nor his alleged attackers. A wife of a landlord in the area, who identified herself as Ayo, said the pastor’s car was stained with blood when it was brought to the area on the next day. “The noise of the church is a major headache for many of us in this community especially when they hold their praise and worship sessions during their vigils. We hardly have a wink of sleep,” she said. It was learnt that Igwe and his church members took Kamorudeen to a police station after the incident on Thursday night but the policemen asked the pastor to get the victim treated first. Kamorudeen’s mother, Anifat, who came down from Iwo in Osun State after she learnt of the incident said she met her son in a pitiable situation. She said it was unjust for someone who claims to be a man of God to take laws into his hands and inflict machete wounds on a fellow citizen. She said, “Apart from sustaining injuries on his head, arm and chest, he has started behaving abnormally. While we were returning home from the hospital, he didn’t even know the direction to his home. “Besides, whenever we ask him questions, his answers are entirely different from what he is being asked. My son has no history of mental illness.” When our correspondent sought to speak with Kamorudeen, his words were incoherent. Sikiru Azeez, a resident of the area who was also Kamorudeen’s master during his apprenticeship, said the victim’s refusal to sell his land and building apartment to Igwe might have aggravated the way and manner they brutalised him. He said, “He had told me that the pastor had asked him to sell his plot of land to him when he just procured it at the rate of N400,000. “When he laid the foundation, he said the pastor approached him again to sell it at the rate of N600, 000 for the church expansion project, which he declined. Azeez, who accused the police of treating the pastor with kid gloves, urged constituted authorities to ensure that justice was done. Another resident, identified simply as Oyeniyi, said, “On Sunday morning some landlords and landladies including me went to the Baale of the community who asked us to initiate a peace meeting with the pastor. “Unfortunately while waiting for his arrival at his church, he brought in a team of riot policemen. The policemen then accused us of plotting to disrupt public peace and we were detained at the police cell for over 11 hours before we were released.” But Igwe, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone on Monday, accused Kamorudeen of invading their church with a machete and threatening to kill him and members of his church. He said, “While a service was going on, he busted into the church while wielding a machete and disrupted the programme. He then demanded the sum of N50m or else he would kill me and my church members. In the process, he manhandled two pregnant women and pushed them to the floor. “One had an instant miscarriage while the other one who sustained waist pains was operated upon on Saturday. There was an instant response from members and he got injured while we were trying to defend ourselves. When we overpowered him, we bundled him into the vehicle and took him to the police station.” Igwe also denied seeking to buy the victim’s plot of land describing it as fabricated. Congregation acted in self defence – Police The Divisional Police Officer, Mowe Division,Owode Emordi, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone on Wednesday said, “Our preliminary investigation revealed that Kamorudeen attacked the pastor and his church members with a cutlass before he was overpowered and got injured on his head, arm and other places in the process. “Investigation is still ongoing but he has been unable to give us a coherent explanation as regards the incident. “As a result of this, we are taking him to a psychiatrist to get an expert opinion about his mental stability and afterwards act appropriately on the matter.” Emordi added that the community members were apprehended because they wanted to unleash mayhem on the church premises during the Sunday worship service, adding that those arrested had been released on compassionate ground. |

A Nigerian has lost all his valuables at Hilton Newport Hotel room, South Wales,ionigeria.com reported on Wednesday. The victim, Tony Okwoju, said he returned to the hotel in the evening to find that his room had been allegedly breached and bolted from the inside. A member of the hotel staff had to cut the bolt before he could gain access into the room. “I lost all my valuables including my international passport, cheque book, laptop, ipad, books, manuals and cash,” Okwoju told ionigeria.com. He said beyond reporting to the police, the hotel did not do anything to help him in any way to get travel document to return to Nigeria. Okwoju said several e-mails by him and other friends that were in the group that stayed at the hotel to senior management of Hilton worldwide had been completely ignored. While also condemning the attitude of the hotel management, Neil Egbor, who also lodged at the hotel, said, “If this had happened to a Briton in a Nigerian hotel, the western media would have been awash with the story, telling everybody how risky it is to visit Nigeria.” http://www.punchng.com/news/africa/nigerian-robbed-in-uk-hotel/ |

afam4eva: You guys have to understand that some of the mods on here never had the opportunity to become class prefect in their primary and secondary school, so this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to feel important. That's what inspires their overly trigger happy and exciting disposition to ban anyone with careless abandon.I can imagine that feeling |
