Former vice-president Atiku Abubakar says the All Progressives Congress (APC) promised to fight corruption but instead has delivered a war on the opposition.

Atiku said this on Saturday at the PDP’s national elective convention at Eagle square Abuja.

The former vice-president said under current APC administration, the country is not working and the people are jobless.

He said the PDP has a lot to be proud of as in the last 16 years, Nigeria prospered and was recognised as the largest economy in Africa.

“Under the APC Nigeria is not working, under the APC our people are not working. Let us consider what the APC has achieved versus what they promised in the last election. The APC promised us N3 million new jobs a year, in government the APC has lost N3 million jobs a year,” Atiku said.

“The APC promised us unity, under APC Nigeria is more divided and acrimonious since the civil war. The APC promised us restructuring, in office the APC denied restructuring. The APC promised war on corruption but all they have delivered is a war on the opposition.

“Comparing the APC in government and the record of the PDP in government, we in the PDP achieved a 10-year expectancy of our people. We the PDP helped Nigeria become the largest in Africa. As members of the PDP we all have a lot to be proud of. in the 16 years that we governed we made Nigeria prosperous. We made mistakes, we are human beings but we put our nation first.

“We now have an APC government which continues to blame the previous governments rather than solving the problems. The PDP is the party that will restructure Nigeria into a modern nation with working institutions.”

You're right. Some months ago, I wanted to get back into the music business again and decided to start up with someone I know. I called up a producer who I had worked with in the past, called up this dude and we had a meeting and we shared a lot of ideas. Before that, we had gone to check out a studio where the production would be done... After the meeting, I took them out for lunch and we were all happy. I wasn't ready to be pressured to take decisions and I backed off without saying anything. I could already sense there was going to be problem ahead... If I had gone ahead and issues started coming up, people would sentimentally blame the label. But most people don't understand the risk involved in putting your had earned peanuts behind an artiste. If he doesn't blow, no one would sympathize with the label. But if he blows and the label is making money, everybody would suddenly realise that the label is ripping the artist off. The people who would tell you that you are being cheated as an artiste, would not bring out their money to support you. All they have is their mouth to talk.

In business, what you negotiate is what you get. All these talks of slave contract is nonsense. If someone did not stake his peanuts on kiss Daniel, nobody would have known him. There are a million young men and women who are better off but have no one to finance them. Kiss Daniel should see off his contract and move on to greater things on his own label. Getting involved in this kind of litigation wouldn't help him. Until the case ends, he cannot get his career running smoothly cos every thing he does going forward, would be subject to litigation.

Germany is a highly industrialized country. In such a country, many will think its people lead a luxurious life.
When we arrived at Hamburg , my colleagues walked into the restaurant, we noticed that a lot of tables were empty. There was a table where a young couple was having their meal. There were only two dishes and two cans of beer on the table. I wondered if such simple meal could be romantic, and whether the girl will leave this stingy guy.
There were a few old ladies on another table. When a dish is served, the waiter would distribute the food for them, and they would finish every bit of the food on their plates.
As we were hungry, our local colleague ordered more food for us.When we left, there was still about one third of un-consumed food on the table.
When we were leaving the restaurant, the old ladies spoke to us in English, we understood that they were unhappy about us wasting so much food.
"We paid for our food, it is none of your business how much food we left behind," my colleague told the old ladies. The old ladies were furious. One of them immediately took her hand phone out and made a call to someone. After a while, a man in uniform from Social Security organisation arrived. Upon knowing what the dispute was, he issued us a 50 Euro fine. We all kept quiet.
The officer told us in a stern voice, "ORDER WHAT YOU CAN CONSUME, MONEY IS YOURS BUT RESOURCES BELONG TO THE SOCIETY. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS IN THE WORLD WHO ARE FACING SHORTAGE OF RESOURCES. YOU HAVE NO REASON TO WASTE_RESOURCES."
The mindset of people of this rich country put all of us to shame. WE REALLY NEED TO REFLECT ON THIS. We are from country which is not very rich in resources. To save face, we order large quantity and also waste food when we give others a treat.
THINK SERIOUSLY ABOUT CHANGING OUR BAD HABITS.
