abouzaid: that's a question i can only answer when i have built it but I'm rather disappointed with our builders here for their hypocritical attitude because of the way most of them have always played the ostrich whenever issues like this are raised, i remember when i asked the six inches foundation question, it was only you and oga Abdul that sticked their necks out to take a stand even when I'm aware of threads by other builders here who have done the same successfully. simple cost analysis for a house measuring 43x40 has seen them going deaf and dumb while how many blocks can you get from a bag of cement is now a question beyond their knowledge. i comment my reserve for all of them. Yes Sir, no more comments. Some of us know what is going on here. |

Pls what's the best way to get a building plan approval in Lagos for a bungalow. DerrickM: Bro,I admire your tenacity in your DIY attempt but I'll tell you engineering drawing and architecture aren't the same. I did T.D and went on to actually study architecture. So you wouldn't want someone encroaching on your field of expertise would you*lol*I don't think so. When it is time to tender working detailed drawings for approval do you think them drawings will make the cut especially if you don't draw the sections correctly,septic/soakaway details correctly and get structural drawings for it also since it goes up to the 1st floor. Well,am using Lagos experience dunno how things are done in PHC but all the best,cheers... |

LondonCool: Would you really get 32 blocks (9 inches) from one bag of cement? I thought the rule of thumb was around 22-24 blocks for 9 inches? Sir, with 42.5 grade cement and a good quality sharp sand, you'll get very solid 32 blocks from one bag of cement. Trust me. |

LondonCool: Does anyone know how to calculate the amount of cement and trips of sand needed to mould 5300 9 inch blocks?
Thanks If you mould 32 blocks per bag, you'll need about 165 bags of cement and about 100 tonnes of sharp sand. Talking from experience. |
