The local content initiative in Nigeria is a law. Nigerdock is the biggest local shipbuilding and marine engineering firm I know of, but there are more local companies in that sector, hundreds of them at onne and bonny. In 2012 they built and handed over to elf oil&ggas 2 locally designed and fabricated Oil Rigs.

That FPSO is world class by any top standard. I have no doubts in my mind that they can comfortably build Frigates and Corvettes if they decide to start building military grade vessels.

My hope is that in the land systems/mobility side, local companies like Proforce can grow in the shortest possible time to be able to compete with Streit group and poly technologies for the supply of MRAPs and LAVs to the military.

Local content - the only way nigerdock could hope to compete against South African companies in the marine business operating in nigeria.

Prior to that, they couldn't compete.

Meanwhile, the world of media sells stories to each other with organisations such as Reuters, Sapa and others selling and buying stories. CNN, BBC you name it, buy stories. Journalistic integrity requires that you stand by the stories that you buy and publish.

Per your post, Nigerians don't have the journalistic integrity. Like blind bats they just publish without thought and they can be challenged on the grounds that they did not originate the stories.
