It didn't start today.
And not just Lagos but the whole of western region.

It started way back since the colonial era. Because Lagos was the administrative capital of Nigeria, they have long sought to make Lagos a no mans land claiming its a federal territory. Awolowo and co knowing the implication of this vehemently opposed making Lagos FCT in the independence constitution... insisting Lagos is Yorubaland and even offered to build a new capital for Nigeria wherever was chosen....Azikwe and his ibo folks rejected this move and the move by Awo and Ahmadu bello to include secession clause in the new nations constitution. That was when Jaja nwachukwu proclaimed Lagos no mans land.

Then the elections of 1951, Zik after installing Opara as premier in eastern house of assembly attempted to become leader of wester house of assembly (what an affront).
He was almost sucessful if not for Awo reaching the conscience of the NCNC and ibadan peoples party lawmakers and making them realise the danger of making an iboman the premier of yorubaland (afterall a yorubaman is not leading the east) and that was how they all defected to Awos party .
This is the origin of igbos calling yorubas tribalists and betrayals
This was also the begining of suspicion of igbos among yorubas.
Recall that the first VC of both UI and Unilag are igbos even when there are qualified yorubas.
The final straw that broke the trust between igbos and yorubas was the 1966 coup.

So those woke yorubas will soon wake up. This is political matters you dont form woke with it...its not entertainment its serious issue that bother on our existence. Yorubaland needs protetection against these folks. Its not hatred, igbos are doing exactly this....thats why you hear stories of igbos not selling land to outsiders apart from them having little land igbos will never allow other tribes own landed properties in their land like they are presetly doing in other peoples lands.

UMYA will for me remain one of Nigerias finest leaders. his accepting that the election that brought him in was fraudulent and went ahead to constitute the Justice Uwais panel on electoral reform which reformed INEC.

2ndly he reduce petrol price. Even though it was a 5 naira reduction that singular act gave many hope that indeed price of essential commodity can come down and not only increase

He was widely acknowledged to have left substantial amounts in his state treasury after his teunre as governor.

But he also took not too good decisions like the cancellation of the sale of Kaduna and Port Harcourt refineries to Dangote & Otedola. He essentially killed those refineries because after then investors refused to bid for them and it was after that experience that Dangote decided to build his own refinery....kaduna refinery is still comatose while a brand new Dangote refinery will come on board any moment now.
