Loftus cheek dey play ball oooo
The boy has been balling for me since he joined palace. I see him fighting and doing much more with the ball. I just need him to react better when he is not with the ball.

I wouldn't mind him in a 3 man midfield tho. especially if we don't get to burden him with defending duties.

I really enjoy watching loftus cheek bomb forward however I doubt he will improve defensively. The guy usually freezes or looks not interested when they are being attacked or when he is not with the ball.

He will be a very good player for us in a three man midfield without the responsibility of sitting back or tracking back.

Though I must confess that I have seen more fight/hunger in him playing in a palace shirt than for cfc.

Tammy was a little bit unfortunate not to have scored today. At 19 he can only improve. I hope he takes the chance given to him by Swansea before Llorente returns from injury.

see question

ask fifa the skill and attribute they saw in pogba that made them include him in their pro 11

I don't need to wait for your answer anymore on Hazard because I know you will call him world class

now let's analyze

you have been saying inconsistency for a while now, how consistent was Hazard two seasons ago? you say pogba is inconsistent, I am guessing you are referring to last season which was his first full season in the EPL, he was able to produce more than 7 goals and score a goal in a European competition final, nominated for player of the competition, all these in an inconsistent first season for the club.. now tell me what your world class Hazard did in his inconsistent season

pogba has won more league titles with juventus than Hazard has with Chelsea, was part of the midfield that led juventus to a champions league final, was in fifa pro 11

so when you say inconsistency, are you referring to his seasons at juventus or his first season at United? cause I have never seen an inconsistent player make fifa pro 11 before in my years of watching football

if you are telling me he was inconsistent last season, no qualms, but if your inconsistency line is based on his career as whole, then you will have to analyze how inconsistent he was at juventus

if pogba is not world class, then Chelsea have no world class player

EOD, I wan watch match

Apart from this one which other mistakes are hidden in all those epistles of his?

That is if we disregard the fact that the Michael Owen example had no relevance to the debate. The argument is not who is better than Henry or any other person, neither is it who is in the top 10 players of all time. The way graduates debate on this forum is quite alarming, it makes one agree with Dayo who questions certificates given to some people here.

why is pogba not world class?
I can see you have been using Fifa pro 11 to justify why pogba can be referred to as a world-class player however what you have failed to realise is that those in that list have been consistent in their performance for years,..... asides them appearing on that list.

A world-class player for me is someone who has consistently shown a skill or attribute that puts him or her in the highest class in the world.

Dopejemi....what can you tell us poorgba does in particular when he plays to be called a world-class player?

Poorgba for me is very talented but hasnt delivered consistently enough in the world of football to be regarded as a world class talent. If he will get there someday is another debate entirely.........if I believe he can be a world player tomorrow....Yes I do but, only if he chooses to do those simple things which always makes him play better and look like a class player.

Take a look at what some of your guys think of poorgba here, and I have started digging post yet......

sinizia:
Pogba's nonchalant, lackadaisical and showboating attitude is his greatest demerits and the reason I never wanted him. Second season is about to start and he's the same ol' limelight-craving teenager. There's is a reason why I'd always want players like Matuidi or hardly criticise a player like Roy Keane. I hate showboating with passion and these serious aforementioned players don't have it. It's the reason why I love Hererra.

I'll continue to reiterate that until he realises that doing simple things and helping his team-mates is the best to fulfil potential, he'll end up another bundle of talent that never got to live up to his hype.

Fabregas at his age was already a midfield kingpin, passing opponents out of the park and sharing assists like say na national cake. He did all those things without the unnecessary baggage of showmanship.

You can choose to always protect Pogba all you want, I won't. I'll criticise him and praise him as well. Sugarcoating words coz he costs us 89m ain't my style.
diadem10:
Well, sowwie if you can't see it but at least you've seen how Pogba often looks out of sort against any decent midfield with a maestro. Even in the England friendly match where he was praised to high heaven, he was back to his usual folly immediately Lallana came on and that was Lallana, who's not even a top maestro.

The best Pogba can attain is a top creative box-box 8, ala Yaya toure/Gerrard but never a maestro.
AdisaOwala:
Lol

I no too dey reason pre-season friendlies...hence my perceived "observation" mode.

Atleast some other people don dey realise say Pogba na liability to the side - I wasn't even the 1st person to criticize him. cheesy

Does this mean that the metrics for rating a player who cost 5m should be the same with one who costs 50m?
AdisaOwala:
Mkitaryan has operated majorly as a winger - his presence in the side hasn't really had anything to do with Pogba or vice-versa...

My question remains thus : Bearing in mind his indifferent form as a #10 / his indirect "complaints" as regards playing in a pivot (which has been evidenced by his positional indiscipline & laziness), what is Pogba's best position in the interest of the team?

Considering the fact that Adabowale has failed to turn up in virtually all away matches (and even some at OT) vs top sides, I don't exactly share your sentiments...

One could also have said that : Assuming he played, he woulda attempted to "over-do" & showboat in Midfield (in typical fashion) - killing whatsoever chances we might have had to counter.

People can lie sha!!!! Man United paid £75mil for Lukuluku plus £15mil in add-ons. That's £90mil already.

If one is to go buy the rumor surrounding Rooneys move to Everton as a makeshift £10mil part deal for Lukuluku that makes it £100mil, if not, then Lukuluku moved to ManUnited based on a £90mil deal.

Nihilist:
So basically you have to hear the manager say he needs players before it's true that he needs players.

Not benching stones and playing kolarov, a left back in his position. Or benching clichy and playing fernandunho at LB. Not trying to buy Jonny Evans.

Ok sir.
Bro I think you are missing my point here.

1st.......This discourse is about last season.

2nd......I am of the opinion that Pep sorted out the areas which he felt were priorities to him during the transfer windows of last season.

3rd.....him benching whoever is not my problem or an excuse for Pep not to have performed last season.

4th.....him chasing a soon to be 30yr old defend in Evans after missing out on a 34yr old Dani alves(hup I am correct abt the age tho) clearly indicates he send the age range like you and dayo wants us to believe.

5th...Pep won't be the first coach to play his players out of their normal position.

Lastly, kindly also note that..... it is beginning to look like or sound like you guys are saying Pep will need to have the best legs in every position to be able to put up a title challenge or to win one or any cup competition for that matter.

So Conte is happy with his squad now.
Conte is not happy and we read it everyday,we see it through his body language etc.... however that wasn't the case for Pep last season.

If Pep can come out in the open to say cfc needed 10new players, you can agree with me be knew the number of players he wanted to get for city. He went out and got those players. Even raumdeuter was busy gloating over the way Pep was schooling teams after his first 4 games.

I have posted some past post from dayo here already as a proof.

This is veering wildly off tangent now and I'm struggling to understand the point that you're driving at ....unlesd You're saying Pep should win the league because he signed John Stones.
I mentioned Pep lost 4-0 to Everton and 4-2 to Leicester. As a defence for Pep, you said he didn't have the players to play is style of football after he went out to sign a 50mil defend in stones and a ball playing keeper.

I am telling you Pep decided he had enough players to start the season with. And Pep actually addressed the areas he thought were necessary not minding if those he failed to change were in their 30s.

I am telling you the coach called Pep is not a steeewpid man for buying and going after players who are about to turn 30.

raumdeuter:
Hope you are enjoying Baldiola son of Fraudiolas struggle in the EPL. He just struggled to a 4-0 win

I saw Kolarov in Central defence today, when Alaba was played in the same role some people said he cant pull that in the EPL.

I'm still not following your point. Somebody is in the market pricing Jonny Evans and you're asking me if Stones and Otamendi are adequate. Clearly Pep is questioning at least one if not both of the pair.

I mean nobody ever accused Stones of being a decent defender before cheesy
Bros we are talking about last season here and not this season. It is obvious he is looking for someone who can come in when kompany gets injured as usual.

Stones issue is not about being decent or not to you. Pep deemed him a very good player to fit into his style of play to buy him and that is good enough for me.

Meanwhile, do you mind explaining to me why Pep is after a 29yr old whose career should be ending when he turns 30? Or maybe you guys are the ones creating the age factor here...
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by diggz: 7:45pm On Aug 18, 2017
I wonder how age can still be said to be the reason why Pep failed last season. Raumdeuter and Nihilist have clearly shown how manCity went all out in getting barca staff in preparation for Pep. They also started buying the type of players who will fit into peps kind of game. Pep had the grace of over a season to decide he was joining manCity. He also knew the players on ground in and out since he cfc so well to state that cfc will need at least 10players to compete again.

When Pep finally joined city he was able to chase out the England number 1 aka Hart for a ball playing keeper in bravo.

He brought in sane, gudgodan, bought 50mil stones, jesus, 29yr old nolito and decided he was good to go.

Here is one of the few post when Raumdeuter failed to mention old age......

I'm not sure what this proves.

If Mangala is not good enough for his system, then why should Pep keep him?
One of your earlier post was about manCity bringing in people from barca to implement a certain style of football. Same people were on ground when they purchased mangala for a record fee before he was shipped out the next by Pep. But that is not even the focus of the discourse.

Nihilist, you claimed pep didn't have the players to play peps style. What happened to 50mil stones and the highly rated otamendi?

Yes pep didn't have the players to play a high line and it showed when Vardy ruthlessly punished City on the counter.
Pep bought stones for 50mil. Had otamendi and kompany(tho not fit most of the time) and could have kept mangala which the people manCity brought in from barca saw fit enough to splash a record fee on but Pep chose to let him go.

Pep was brought to play a particular style of football. The players he met were too old to play that style. So yes, old players were a key reason he did not win the league playing flamboyant football.
.
Ok we are to believe that the players he met and bought couldn't play his type of football so they lost ridiculously to Everton 4-0 and Leicester fighting for survival 4-2. That's just the 2matches I can remember, not to forget arsenal.

Please I hope you have taken into account not all the players from 30 and above featured in this matches?

Ibime:
If you have old defenders, you play with a low block.

Pep is incapable of playing a low block and that's why he failed. . . because he is tactically inflexible.

Pep is not the first manager to inherit old defenders. Max Allegri has been playing with old defenders year on year, Mourinho won league in 2015 comfortably with old defenders, ditto UCL at InterMilan with the likes of Zanetti, Lucio Samuel etc.

Even Wenger can win league with Adams, Keown, Bould, Dixon, Winterburn so Peps story is for the birds. He simply failed.
