Please house, whats the different between Bellintersat and Yahsat? My Strong 4950H decoder couldn't see the Bellintersat 32.9e but got Yahsat 33e. What could be the reason?
First of all Belintersat is located at 51.5 degree east and not anywhere around 32.9 degree east.

Secondly the issues of not seeing a particular satellite name has been partially related here.

Anyways, it's not a must that until you see the satellite name on your decoder, will make the channel to pop up.

The reason behind you seeing a preconfigured satellite name, is only meant to make things easier for novice.

So it's time to start thinking like a pro.

First off, is to always understand the difference between a Cband frequency and a ku band frequency.

For example, any ku band frequency can work under any preconfigured satellite name on your decoder. So will any Cband frequency work on a preconfigured Cband satellite name on your decoder.

Now on the issue of not seeing a particular satellite name on your decoder ? Well it is due to the fact that such a satellite name was not existing as of the time the decoder software was made or updated.

Secondly it could also due to the fact the manufacturer of the decoder did not make that satellite name a priority, because there was already a universal satellite name, located at that exact position.

In conclusion... Going through the foundation that I have listed above.. You can build on the fact that all that is necessarily important, is the frequency to input on any preconfigured satellite name that falls into a ku band, if that's what you are tracking. Then you either input the frequency manually or you do a blind scan on that satellite name your lnb is connected through a diseqc. ( that's if you did not run the wire direct).

I can go on and on, but let me not fill your head with too much information that is not really needed for now

I'm so grateful. Thank you very much. God bless you richly.
I forgot to add that it's very very easy to slid in your F - connector into the cheaper cables. But the more superior ones, especially the one hundred percent cooper will be a task for you to slid in the F - connector into the cable

Nice one Digitman, pls which channels are on that 36e
Bro you know many of us still want to eat our cake and still have it.

Meaning= using one particular dish to solve all the house satellite needs.

Like

D..tv

Mytv

Ourtv

And still use it for fta.

So that marking of 36east, is just my way of indicating that such a setup will still keep your D...tv signal very much intact. Without the need to compromise it due to fta needs.

Though there is a motor sports channel that has been open there for a very long time. For people who like watching car racing

This is awesome and very innovative, I have been trying all these years to attach additional LNBs, even bought multi-LNB holder from China, it didn't fit properly. The Chinese Multi-LNB holders are not that suitable for Nigeria elevation.

Thanks once again and remain blessed for sharing this very important idea. wink

@Digitman

I'm confused about the coaxial cable. I saw TG6 coaxial cable online which I wanted to order, but the d..tv man around my place said there are different kinds of TG6 cable. He said his own 15yards is N2k when I saw 65yards online around that price.
I also saw strong TG6 20m for 3k.

Please advise me on cable.

Please answer me pls.
Sorry for the late reply, I am not always here, as a result, comes a delay in responding on time.

Now to your question. There is no disputing the fact that the seller in your neighborhood is right.

However, some marketers will use that to sell the one they have at a much higher price.

Some of the key factors that determine the price range are not entirely limited to what I am about to state below.

1. It's a hundred percent cooper

2. It has a more thicker coating

3. It has a less thicker coating

4. It's not made of a hundred percent cooper materials

5. The positive wire ( the one at the middle) it's a thick wire

6. The positive wire ( the one at the middle) it's made of a thing wire.

7. It's either the row of cable is complete 100yards or it's labeled 100 yards but not truly complete

In summary of the above listed, kind of put the cable in two categories.

Complete or incomplete row of cable

Thick coating or thin layer of coating

Full cooper or really not full cooper.

I am sorry if I am giving you too many things to process.

So let's make it simple to process.

Take a piece of magnet and bring it close to the middle wire in the cable. The 100 percent cooper will not be attracted to the magnet

But the one that is not 100 percent cooper will quickly be attracted to the magnet.

Secondly try to peel off the black rubber coat with your finger or teeth. The one with a solid built will have some resistance. But the one without will easily tear off.

Thirdly, when you peel off the coating in the middle wire, you will notice that one it more thinker and don't easily bend, but another does the opposite.

Fourthly, the cheaper brands always look thinning in the eyes when compared to the higher brand. When you concentrate on the diameter.

In conclusion, 70percent of the time, you will not always find the high end type in small satellite shop because it's not always in demand due to cost. But that which is available over the years have always got the job done, during the entire time of its lifespan.

I strongly hope all those who have been limited due to not finding the fridge stuff.
Will find my little experiment as an inspiration to solve that. One love.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m): 12:53pm On Nov 21, 2020
So let check the signal of the attached lnb in this particular diy.

Using 51.5e as reference point on strong 4954

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m): 12:48pm On Nov 21, 2020
Because this was just for educational purpose and also due to the fact that I have limited lnb in the house to fit into this second experiment.

The need to start arranging 32.9 east, 42.5 east was not really there.

However I did test each sat on it and the result was just like that of using the back of fridge coolant pipe.

So all I did after testing them one after the other was to check the final sat, which was 51.5 east and all went well

A few minutes later, here is the end product in the image below.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m): 12:27pm On Nov 21, 2020
Next step was to narrow the gap, so as to create a friction between the rod and the lnb.

Using a hammer, with a little tenderness, I began to hit the curve

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m): 12:24pm On Nov 21, 2020
Then with my two hands at both ends, I bend it towards me

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m): 12:20pm On Nov 21, 2020
Now we are home, it's time to shape that 36/40 inches length quarter rod to look exactly like the coolant pipe we used in our first project.

To archive this, I placed the rod at the back of the dish hanger on the wall.

Image attached below

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m): 12:17pm On Nov 21, 2020
So after getting it or buying it from the building material people. Price will vary in different location. I think the last time I bought it was around 400-500 naira for full length. But maybe they can sell half for you. I really can't say. Because I never asked.

Anyways back to what I was trying to say.

You need a measurement of 36 inches length, but you know me, I dey always like leave room for extra based on experiments.

So in the below image I cut out a length of about 40 inches. That's about 3ft-4inches.

Please for those who might not have a cutting tool in your home. It's better to use the above measurement to cut it right there in the buildings material shop. Then collect the extra, it's your money so na you still get am

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m): 12:10pm On Nov 21, 2020
Please do bear in mind that in comes in different quality. But the one we need is the most flexible of them all. The building material seller might call it the low quality, but I call it the best quality for what I want to do with it. Because it is more easily bendable and not that hard of a rod.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m):
Without wasting much of your time.

This is what I came up with to solve that downside of searching and searching for it.

We will have to form it ourselves with something everyone can easily find in where they sell building materials.

Or it can even be in your personal building site or something like that.

Yes it is what you all know as Quarter rod

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Digitman(m):
I have been getting offline messages that deals with the setback. Of many not being able to find the most important tool needed for the multi lnb setup we discussed last time.

Due to their inability to find either a scavenger or a fridge repairer . So as to get the coolant tube at the back of a fridge.

Image attached below for reference

plz how will u rate ourtv program so far, 1 out of 10.
For the fact that you pay absolutely nothing to watch the stations they provide and they still made their decoder to have access to other free to air satellite channels, that you can track yourself.

Then, it does not fall into the category of program rating.

Just like I keep telling anyone that cares to listen.

You have no right to complain about any channel you watch for free. It's only when you are paying to watch that such should be an issue or a debate worth having.

I don't see them as a service provider trying to compete with anyone. But rather a service provider with the aim of trying in their own possible way to give you access. To the basic channels that takes care of your basic TV consumption needs, in a premium package without any need for subscription.

I have a few questions here as regards your multi-lnb info and teaching shared yesterday ;

1. I observe that your lnb's provides quality signals, the least of your signals yesterday was 74-75 and above. Pray, tell us, how do you sort your lnb quality and what kind of brands do you often use or rather, used yesterday in your teaching?

2. How do you know when your decoder is due for an upgrade I am asking this question cos I don't know if it's safe or necessary for me to upgrade mine for the August update cos I brought it less than a month or so.

3. You displayed some screenshots of the various sats and signals you combined on a dish yesterday, I am curious, did you use Desiqc or you just plug them in separately. I am asking this cos I understand that combining up to that number of sats on a decoder via DiSEqC reduces the quality of the signals if I am right?

4. I observe today and each time I hunt @ Intelsat 68.5 the signals are either 45% or the highest I would get at, say, 51%. I want to ask, is this normal or the issue is my location or what?

5. Was it this round iron from burnt tyre you used yesterday to hold or bind these lnbs down on the dish?

I believe this question speaks the mind of many of us who have one or two curious questions, consciously or subconsciously from the priceless info you provided yesterday.

Thanking you in advance.
1. I belong to the school of thought, that believes in the saying " use what you have to get what you want. Which in reality helped me to achieve all I posted yesterday. Before me, there have been many people who have done such a setup in their own way or method. All I did was tap into the idea of the possibility of such a setup and used whatever that was available withing my disposal to improve on it. So the question of make or brand of lnb is more or less trying to create limitations to myself. Take for example, that someone among the people before me used an lnb of 5k or 15 k to achieve theirs and I limit myself by thinking it's what is needed for such to happen. Then, I would have not been where I am today. The moral of this is simple, don't do as I have done, rather use what I have done as an inspiration to make whatever that is withing your reach a tool to create or make something similar or even so so much better. Further more I also remember pointing out that the signal will vary in different decoders, but does not stop the setup from not fulfilling its purpose.

2. You have asked the question about decoder upgrade in the past pages and I remember giving you my own thoughts about that. You went ahead to ask the guy who was asking after how to go about activating his decoder. Today you bring back the same question. Then I ask myself, why will someone be so interested in fixing something that is not broken? You said to the guy that day that your decoder now multistream. Which if you Google your decoder brand in this forum. To check anything about software upgrade, you will notice it was and still is the only reason why such was recommended.

3. Yes I used diseqc and still wondered how whatever signal drop it brings is more important than the stability of a setup

4. 68.5e is not a sat with the best of signal. So a location can affect it, even the same brand of lnb can either give a low or strong signal. Dish alignment can still reduce signal, different brand of dish can still reduce signal. All the above tend to happen simply because the sat does not have the best of signal strength and as such could vary in different installations.

5. It's a binding wire. It looks like that because of rust. Due to long rain that touched it over the years.

In conclusion.. Many of us are where we are today, not because we asked all the questions there is to ask. But because we studied all there is to study and by so doing, there became no need for any or too many questions.

That's why you will notice some learned minds here will never bother to answer certain questions but will rather tell you to go and study.

At least four among the five questions you asked should not have been necessary. If you stop seeing FTA as rocket science

Please bring back the blind scan feature. Because one has to manually input all the frequency to a newly installed sat. Which can be a difficult task to deal with, if you do not remember each and everyone of the frequencies that exist under that sat position.

Till this very day, I can't possibly think of any downside reason to eliminate such a feature that makes a decoder stands out from the rest.

It can really be a turn off to many users who don't have the patience to go through such technicalities.

Please give it a thought, because I believe I speak for many who are not happy about such a feature being removed.
