CareerRe: Sharing Your Salary Information With Friends And Family, Good Or Bad? by Digriz(m): 11:43am On May 05, 2016
kaka22:
Well, it depends on the family and friends. I shared my salary information with a friend and that was because she shared her own first. Moreover, her salary almost doubles my own. I don't think I can do that with a friend who earn lesser than me.

I shared my salary information with my elder brother because he contributed to my academics.

Note: it is easy to share salary information with friends if all of you earn roughly equal salary so it won't lead to jealousy or inferiority complex. When I start earning my millions monthly, nobody will know cool
Absolutely concur wt you,. I hv a very close friend that I normally share ideas wt, bt he suddenly changed when I got my new job.He asked abt my salary so that he wl know whether to apply next time there is a vacancy. I told him my monthly take home package and since then he stopped calling me, stop visiting and even tell people what am earning.
I was surprised when. my brother who's a student told me about it and how the news hv spread..the worst is that am not even earning that as a take home bcus that was the gross payment and not net payment.
My wife is the only one that know my actual salary and she's assisting me in managing it.

This is pure ritual, people can do anything for money now.
I remember years back where a mad man normally stays and he's been there for 3yrs. What surprised some people was that a particular rich man always hail him when passing by and sometimes will tell him well done that it will soon be over. People around later noticed that he did ritual to play mad for some years to be rich. This is life experience and not story.

BusinessRe: Ifeanyi Ubah: 'I Can Bring The US-Dollar To N200 In One Month' by Digriz(m): 4:34pm On Feb 22, 2016
Bevista:
Ordinarily, I should not comment on this thread since Ubah has not mentioned how he would go about it. However, for the benefit of those who might get swayed by his cheap claims, I'll say something.
---
The exchange rate (PRICE of dollars) is determined primarily by SUPPLY of dollars (through exports, FDIs, foreign borrowing, etc) and DEMAND for dollars (through imports, payments of foreign school fees/medical bills, online purchases, etc). The NET flow of these transactions determine the Balance of Payments (BOP) account with the Central Bank. Elementary economics tells us that when demand exceeds supply, prices go up!
---
Coming back to Nigeria, it is well known that oil accounts for 95% of our FX earnings. As oil prices have collapsed from ~$100 in 2014 to ~$30, our supply of dollars has dropped tremendously. This is even worse when one considers that our cost of oil production is ~$20/bbl, meaning that our dollar revenue from oil has dropped from ~$80/bbl to ~$10/bbl. On the demand side, the request for imports are increasing. With such supply shock and increasing demand, there is only one way for the exchange rate to go. This is basic economics and has nothing to do with Emefiele or Buhari, except you are simply being mischievous or grossly ignorant.
---
When oil collapsed from around $147 to $38 due to the 2008 Global Financial Crisis (GFC), Nigeria had a Foreign Reserve of ~$62bn. The then CBN Governor had to spend ~$20bn from the Reserves to meet import demand thereby preventing devaluation/depreciation. Between 2011 & 2014, oil price was above $100, meaning that the administration never had a dollar supply problem and so could maintain a stable exchange rate. Fast forward to late 2014 when oil prices slid to ~$60, the CBN had to devalue the Naira twice within a period of 6 months (Nov 2014 & Feb 2015) because the Reserves were too low (<$35bn) to deplete to support imports. Now in 2016, oil prices are around $30/bbl while FX Reserves is less than $28bn. The supply shock has reached unprecedented levels, yet demand for imports has not decreased. There is absolutely no way that the exchange rate can stay below N250/$. Simple economics says that price will continue to move till a new equilibrium is reached where demand equates supply.
---
There is no policy from Emefiele, Soludo, Greenspan, Bernanke or any other Central Bank governor that can strengthen the Naira in the near term. Except we want to completely deplete the Reserves or go to the IMF to borrow SDRs just to meet import demands. Brace up folks, if oil price collapses to $20 (thereby increasing the supply shock) the exchange rate shall hit N1000/$ and I repeat, this has nothing to do with Emefiele or Buhari but simply economic forces. The only thing that can save the Naira is either for SUPPLY of dollars to increase (through high oil price) or DEMAND to reduce. Since we do not have control over the supply side, we can at least focus on managing the demand side.
---
So Mr Ifeanyi Ubah, you have zero knowledge on what you are talking about. With all the money you made from the last government, you can start by building a refinery or some other manufacturing facility (like Dangote) to help us substitute for imports. That would help the Naira more than you seeking cheap consultancy from the government. Or except you want to broker a deal for the government to give amnesty to your Dasuki-Gate friends, so they can bring out stashed up dollars from soakaways and graveyards to support the economy.
Pls get outta here wt ur economics, dream killers that's what u are. Only whiteman has the solution wt his economics and that's what u believe in.People like u are the reason why Africa wl never move on always stuck wt oyibos method and nothing more. One man discovered HIV cure yet you and your fellow brought him down and never allow his invention to see the light of the day, you killed his dream bcus he's a black man and not white.
Let's gv this man a chance, he can do it.His own way may yield the result so let's stop all this economics quotation here.

The Best Ways to Destroy Your Transmission

Tags:Transmission Basics

Bad habits are hard to break but just being aware of some of the ways you can avoid destroying your transmission can help immensely down the road.

The automatic transmission is a very important module of your vehicle. It allows your vehicle to cruise at highway speed without blowing up the motor. It multiplies the torque of your engine to aid in propelling the weight of your vehicle. It makes driving in traffic less stressful as it eliminates the clutch and shifts itself. While vital to the proper operation of your vehicle, many people take their automatic transmission for granted. Even worse, they contribute to its failure via bad habits. Let’s take a look at some of the bad habits that can destroy your transmission, presented in a tongue-in-cheek manner to help emphasize their significance.

1. Overheat your vehicle as often as possible.

Most automatic transmissions are designed to operate at a maximum temperature of 200 degrees. For every 20 degrees you go above this limit, you risk cutting the expected lifespan of the transmission by a factor of two. To put that in a better perspective, by the time your transmission reaches 300 degrees its life span will be reduced to 1/32nd of what is considered normal. You should also note that at temperature as low as 240 degrees your organic oil based transmission fluid can turn to varnish, leaving it unable to properly lubricate the moving parts inside your transmission.

2. Maintain improper fluid levels.

Letting the transmission run out of fluid or operating it with a low fluid level is a guaranteed way to have a transmission breakdown. The fluid keeps the transmission's internal components cool and lubricated. When the fluid level becomes low or runs completely out, the internal parts begin to grind and overheat which leads to failure.

3. Never change the fluid.

Another way to kill your transmission is failing to change the fluid according to the schedule in your automobile's owner's manual. Like the oil in your automobile's engine, transmission fluid becomes dirty and eventually needs changing. Failure to change the fluid can lead to the seals and gaskets, as well as internal transmission components, beginning to overheat and break down.

4. Use the incorrect fluid type.

Adding the wrong type of transmission fluid can kill it. Manual and automatic transmissions use different fluids (see ‘Choosing the Right Transmission Fluid'). These fluids cannot be mixed with other fluids or added on a temporary basis to "just get by."

5. Drag race from light to light.

This causes the torque converter to produce a lot of heat. If you don’t give the transmission a chance to cool down between jack-rabbit starts, it will overheat quickly. We know what happens to a transmission when it overheats. Unless your vehicle was specifically designed for this purpose, it cannot sustain that form of abuse. You run the risk of damaging all driveline components.

6. Always stop abruptly.

Like fast starts, sudden stops can damage drivetrain components like engine and transmission mounts. These can lead to transmission damage. After any sudden emergency stop, it would be wise to have your mounts checked.

7. Leave the shift lever in park without the parking brake on.

If another vehicle were to even tap yours at the front or back while you’re parked, it could cause the parking pawl to break leaving your vehicle to roll down the street unattended.

8. Downshift to “brake” at traffic lights.

A forced downshift at high engine RPM is sure to cause excessive wear on transmission friction components (clutches and bands).

9. Place the shift lever in drive or reverse when engine is at “fast idle”.

This can cause abrupt transmission engagement leading to early failure of clutches, bands, gear sets, driveline components and engine or transmission mountings.

10. Use your shift lever instead of your brake.

Before reversing direction your car must be at a complete stop. Using the transmission to stop the vehicle will lead to premature transmission failure.

11. Start driving before the engine warms up.

For your transmission to perform properly, the fluid must be at operating temperature. (Give it a few minutes and it will give you better and longer service).

12. Tow your vehicle with the drive wheels on the ground, and/or tow over the factory recommended limit.

Rear wheel drive vehicles must be towed with the rear wheels off the ground. Front wheel drive with the front wheels in the air. All wheel or full time four-wheel drive vehicles should be flat towed (all four wheels off the ground) Not sure? Check your owner’s manual. Also, every vehicle comes from the factory with a recommended maximum towing limit. Unfortunately, few owners obey it. The bands and clutches can start slipping. This causes them to wear out very quickly. It also results in the transmission getting pumped full of debris as they start failing. Improper towing can cause serious damage!

13. Play transmission “doctor”.

Over the counter additives that are supposed to stop leaks or make the transmission shift better many times contain chemicals that may cause worn seals to swell. This can interfere with the function of these operating rubber parts and lead to severe damage.

14. Abuse the drivetrain.

By being stuck in sand, snow, mud or another substance, rocking will cause excessive heat which can burn out a transmission in a very short period of time. Instead, dig it out or have it towed. Both are less expensive than the damage you may cause by quick shifting between Reverse and Drive over and over again.

Driving in stop-and-go traffic for an extended period of time; idling the vehicle too long; driving off-road; or using your automobile as a snowplow will also kill your transmission. The engine and transmission is working, but nothing is happening because the wheels cannot move. This leads to the fluid in the transmission overheating and its internal components failing.

Avoiding these bad habits can do wonders for your transmission, not to mention your wallet!

I feel sick if my baby (my car) is faulty .. thanks y'all
https://www.nairaland.com/2724025/gear-selection-issue-golf-3
Am not an auto mechanic bt from my own experience., get the transmission scanned for solenoid related issue and if it shows valve solenoid issue then ur clutch fibres are still good which I think is still good since u can manually shift the gears.. U either get a new solenoid kits and get it replaced. U can also check if ur TCU has bn fried.
In my own case,I couldn't get a new solenoid kit bcus of dollar cost frm Ebay, the harness and solenoids are $157 and when converted to naira u wl see its higher than a replacement. I finally replaced my gearbox, took out my valve body from the old gearbox and kept safe. Once I got a better deal I wl buy the solenoid valves/ harness and replace it and wl hv a spare gearbox.
VW 01M auto gearbox are very fragile and prone to issues and the gearbox oil cooler is a bad engineering by them.
