As Nigerians finalize their preparations for the 2023 presidential election, which will be held tomorrow, Saturday, February 25, Daniel Bwala, a member of the Atiku-Okowa presidential campaign council (PCC), has stated that every Christian vote cast for Peter Obi is a vote for Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr. Bwala claimed that Tinubu was instrumental in Peter Obi’s success at some of his campaign rallies across the country because he knew that a vote for the latter would benefit him.

The PDP presidential campaign spokesman, speaking on Channels Television’s “The 2023 Verdict,” stated that he received an intelligence report several weeks ago that Tinubu was knowingly paying people to attend Obi’s rallies in order to keep the Labour Party campaign going.

Bwala said, “I’m speaking about Peter Gregory Obi because the questions we get usually suggest that Obi is a modern phenomenon and that he is this and that. Let me even touch on religion, and I’d like to address my people. In this campaign, he used religion to stir people’s emotions and sentiments.

“On one side, there is jihad, and on the other, there is a Christian war. Let me tell you right now that every Christian who votes for Peter Obi is also voting for Tinubu. That is why APC is keeping an eye on things.

“I received information not more than three weeks ago that Bola Tinubu and the APC were paying people to attend Obi’s rallies in order to keep him in the race. They believe that as long as Obi’s campaign is active, he will steal PDP votes.”

Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Kaduna, SOKAPU president, Mr Dio Maisamari and the chairman of Southern Kaduna Leadership Council, Mr Dary Akau, said Saturday’s election is fundamental to the people of the region especially as in the past eight years their people have suffered untold deprivations and dehumanisation from the exclusiveness and discriminatory practices of the present party and government in power.

“To this extent, the presidential candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party and Labour Party came and discussed with our people and leaders, and were given the Southern Kaduna Charter for Socio-Political Engagement. Therefore, the choice for the Southern Kaduna people is between the PDP and LP.

In considering where to go, and which party to support, we take into consideration the fact that we have benefited more where we have been included in governance and decision making, adding politically and economically, the Southern Kaduna people have benefited more from the PDP than any other party in the history of Nigeria.

“Nevertheless, given the strength of the emotions arising from the oppression our people have suffered over the past eight years, there is the tendency to align with the Labour Party, noting as leaders of Southern Kaduna, we take cognizance of the sentiments and emotions of our people over the suffering they have gone through.

“We have examined the balance of forces on the ground in terms of structures, spread, capacity of the party and candidates to win the presidential election, hold and use the power to include the Southern Kaduna people in government.

A couple of days before the presidential election slated for February 25, the chairman of Gombe State chapter of Labour Party (LP) and coordinating chairman for 36 States of the federation, Alh Sani Abdulsalam, has alleged that party’s executives in the North were being marginalised.
Giving the party 12-hour ultimatum, Abdusalam called for the immediate release of all money budgeted by the party for the 2023 election logistics.
Alleging undemocratic internal activities of the party’s presidential candidate, he said Peter Obi may fail in the polls if the party does not revert the trends.
He lamented that the party has failed to recognise the important role of the 36 state chapters’ leadership but would rather chose to work with cronies and support groups.

Abdulsalam, who spoke on behalf of others such as: the chairman of Yobe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammad Bukar; and the national vice chairman, North-East, Alhaji Mohammed Alkaji, during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, hinted that monies expected to be channeled to polling unit agents through state chairmen or national officers have not been sent, stressing the fundamental need to mobilise polling unit agents.
He said: “I speak on behalf of 36 state chairmen of our party in my capacity as the coordinating chairman. We have never been respected by the party leadership and also our presidential candidate has no respect for our party executives at state levels because Mr Peter Obi deliberately mismanaged our goodwill with the imposition of his members and other support groups that decamped with him in May 2022 to our party.
“Of note today Wednesday the 22nd day of February 2023 was the meeting we had with the national chairman Bar Julius Abure in the party head office where the discussion was held about the logistics support for state chapters and national officers towards effective mobilisation of our members for the presidential and National Assembly election on Saturday 25th February 2023.
“To our surprise, the national chairman Bar Julius Abure said the Presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi has no confidence in all the 36 state chapters’ leadership but would rather choose to work with their cronies and support group that came with him.
“The greatest shock from the national chairman was that money for agents will not be sent to any state chairman or National officers except those three NWC members including a woman and that all state chairmen and 19 other members already picked by Mr Peter Obi himself will be given monies meant for party agents and alert will be received by 10 pm tonight Wednesday the 22nd day of February 2023.
“As of tonight, no alert has been received by any state chairmen and information reaching us confirmed that money was paid based on ethnic and religious consideration because only persons of a particular ethnic group currently run the campaign of Mr. Peter Obi in cohort with the national chairman, Mr. Julius Abure, has polluted the party.
“Nigerians should be aware that Mr. Peter Obi is an epitome of lies and a bundle of deceit. In fact, he has come to destroy our beloved party.
“As members of the Labour Party National Executive and National Working Committee (NWC), it is our considered opinion and informed conclusion that Peter Obi cannot win this election since all party executives have been sidelined. He is not ready and is grossly ill-prepared for the Presidential race.”

The Labour Party candidate for Enugu East Senatorial district, Oyibo Chukwu has been killed.

Oyibo, a lawyer was said to have been attacked while returning from a campaign trip in the Agbani area.

He was said to have been burnt inside his vehicle, and three persons were suspected to be with him in the vehicle but it was not yet known how many of the occupants were killed

Information about the attack is still very sketchy but a top member of the party has confirmed it but said he should not be quoted until the family speaks.

It was also learned that the APC governorship candidate in the state, Uche Nnaji was also attacked at the spot where the Labour candidate was killed.

As a proud Yoruba son, I was raised with an appreciation for cultural diversity and the importance of being respectful and responsible towards others. As someone who was considering casting my vote for Peter Obi, I was deeply disappointed by the disrespectful and antagonistic behavior of his supporters. It is clear that the Igbos have faltered in this regard, and I hope they will learn from their mistakes in the future. As someone who values all people, regardless of race or ethnicity, I personally choose not to support an Hausa candidate, as I believe their past actions have done irreparable harm to our country. However, this does not mean that I must resort to cursing or abusing their supporters in order to make my point.

Instead, I urge the Igbos to work towards fostering greater respect and compassion in their political discourse. Rather than resorting to insults and hostility, they should strive to present a positive narrative that highlights the strengths and merits of their chosen candidate.

Ultimately, it is up to each of us to set a positive example for others to follow. By cultivating a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding, we can work towards a brighter future for all Nigerians, regardless of tribe or ethnicity. So let us strive to be better, and let us work together to build a more united, more prosperous, and more respectful Nigeria.
