For their private business interests in the state capital and in their villages, Okorocha and Nwosu maliciously repressed development in their senatorial constituency where Okorocha bagged massive votes in 2011. They danced to the gallery of the state capital. Okorocha frequently said: "I am building our dear state capital city," Uche Nwosu publicly boasted: "I am the architect of Owerri Urban renewal," whereas floods from little rains wrecked havoc in the principal urban town in their senatorial constituency, they refused to complete the drainage project and repair of roads started by former governors in the area. |

titiloyeblog: news @ titiloyeblog.com
Youths under the aegis of Imo Youth Council (IYC) have petitioned the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko, to wade into the Constitutional crisis brewing in the State over the outcome of the general election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Emeka Ihedioha as the governor-elect.
But in a petition signed by the National President and National Speaker of the IYC, Comrade Ikechukwu Obiora and Hon Samuel Godstime Chukwubuikem respectively, the youths urged the CJN to prevail on INEC to observe and respect the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution as it applies to the emergence of a winner in a governorship election.
They posited that the declaration of the PDP candidate as the governor-elect is a clear violation of the Constitution and should be reversed before it escalates into full-blown Constitutional crisis.
According to the youths, INEC as an institution should not operate outside the provisions of the Constitution or laws establishing it, adding that no person or institution is above the Constitution.
The petition read in part, “We the youths of Imo state and other well-meaning Imolites have observed with grave concern, the flagrant disregard of the Nigerian Constitution by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the governorship election of Imo State.
“INEC returned the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Emeka Ihedioha as governor-elect in a reckless violation of Section 179 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which stipulates that a candidate for an election to the office of the Governor of a State shall be deemed to have been duly elected where, there being two or more candidates; he has the highest number of votes cast at the election, and he has not less than one-quarter of all the votes cast in each of at least two-thirds of all the Local Government Areas in the State.
“The statistics of the result of the governorship election showed that the PDP candidate did not score the percentage of vote required to be declared as governor-elect. We are therefore as Concerned Youths of Imo State soliciting your intervention to prevail on INEC to withdraw the purported declaration and order a fresh election to avoid impending Constitutional crisis”.
“We are therefore demanding that a date be fixed for a fresh election in the state and if a winner emerges in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, we shall gladly accept the verdict as the collective will of the people of the state, but we will employ all legitimate means to ensure that the illegality foisted on the people of the state by INEC does not stand”.
Meanwhile, twenty political parties have also called on INEC not to issue Certificate of Return to the PDP candidate because according to them, no winner has emerged yet in the March 9 governorship election.
The candidates described the declaration by the State Returning Officer for the governorship election, Prof. Francis Otunta as shocking and an aberration, adding that, “as a Professor of mathematics, he should have known what 25% of 2-3rd votes cast in the 27 Local Government Areas”.
They strongly contended that the declaration not in tandem with the provisions of Constitution.
At a press conference in Owerri, the state capital, the governorship candidate of Masses Movement of Nigeria (MMN), Jerry Iheanacho, who spoke on behalf of others, said that they had individually decided to challenge the outcome of the governorship election at the Election Petitions Tribunal.
Iheanacho noted that the declaration of Ihedioha as the winner of the election was “a rape of our Constitution”.
The governorship candidate said, “it is not about Ihedioha but it is about what the Constitution says from the results as announced by INEC, the PDP candidate didn’t meet the constitutional requirement to have been declared the governor-elect”.

Bola Tinubu paced all over the SW region clamouring for restructuring Nigeria's rogue 36 states and Abuja political structure created by northern soldiers which consigned near ownership of Nigeria to the northern region. Politicians from the former Eastern and Mid-west regions also clamoured for restructuring.
Alas, they joined the conservative political groups in the north whose soldiers restructured the country.
Yoruba and Igbo, see what you did to yourselves for non cooperation.
There should have been more states in the two southern regions that joined northern region for independent Nigeria in 1960 if equity between the regions was used as yardstick to divide Nigeria into states. |

tysontim: My brother this rotation of a thing needs to be written down, in life you trust no one, the North may not take it now but in future with the way their population is growing they will take it as theirs.
If it is written the South has no reason to beg support from the North wheever they want to contest for presidency.
If the SE is not given the ticket, the North will continue ruling that's the truth, because the east will surely support a Northerner. At the end the South loses, VP is nothing compared to president, even a Senate president has more power than him. What the South needs come 2023 is a president and not a VP.
Even the SW voted more for PDP than the SE in this election, some consider it greediness for West wanting a go at the presidency. The truth is we need an understanding down south fast otherwise, South is finished. After Obasanjo's 11 years, and Shonekan's short tenure as president, it's not only GREED but insult in SW's desire to go for presidency again in 2023. |

About 90% of the people of the southern regions don't understand how north dominates Nigeria's political process.
South don't understand that the 20 states unduly proliferated by northern soldiers in one northern region make northern political class dominate Nigeria.
A presidential candidate must win 25% of votes in 24 states before declared winner. A presidential candidate from Fulani which controls most of northern Nigeria can easily win in 24 states, while no southern presidential candidate can make it, unless Fulani is tired of ruling Nigeria. |

Chai, Owelle Rochas must hear this.
Truth is that so long as this 36 states political structure with 20 states proliferated by northern soldiers in northern region remains,
even a cow from northern Nigeria can easily win a professor from southern Nigeria, unless north is tired of ruling.
In a country formed by many different regions, land mass or population figures is never used as yardstick to determine where and how many new political units like states or local government areas can be created in any region.
Equity between the regions is the yardstick used in other countries.
There should have been more states in the south than in the north.

CastedDude: A Nigerian film maker and actor, Femi Ogedengbe, has taken to social media to narrate on behalf of a victim - his horrifying experience at the hands of gunmen alleged to be Fulani herdsmen over the weekend in Edo state.
Read the lengthy piece he shared on his Instagram page yesterday.
Oh Nigeria ! I weep… ARMED ROBBERY AND KIDNAPPING BY ARMED FULANI HERDSMEN ON ORE-BENIN EXPRESSWAY - OFOSU (INCIDENT HAPPENED AROUND 3 PM LAST SATURDAY MARCH 16, 2019). For my personal safety and to avoid a reprisal or repeat attack, God forbid, let me call myself Barrister A.
I was on my way to Jattu, near Auchi in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State Nigeria for my younger sister's traditional marriage billed to take place in Jattu.
I set out from Lagos and was having a very smooth ride until I entered Edo State. At Ofusu just before Okada Town, I noticed that the cars and tipper in front were driving in a zigzag manner. I applied my brakes and a sienna car that was beside me Also tried to brake and hit me on my side and forced me to hit the keb we struggled until the vehicles came to a halt. I raised my head to find out what was happening and got the scare of my life. Young Fulani men armed with AK47 riffles were shooting at us. I tried to reverse my car they were also behind shooting. A large number of vehicles were trapped in between.
As I tried to open my door one of them came to my side pointing an AK47 at me. I quickly raised up my hands and pleaded with him not to shoot. I gave him my wallet which he collected and put in his pocket.
As I was alighting from my car another Fulani man charged at me with his dagger. I begged him not to stab me. He pushed me to the side of the road and into the bush. They also took other people hostage.
We met the other abductees on the way lying face down. There were two women and five men. The men were being beaten with heavy sticks. They rode past them and took me to a tomatoes farm. I came down and was asked to sit down. I immediately obeyed. They warned me to stop looking at their faces or else they would kill me. I begged for my life like I have fever done before.
While seated one of them came to me told me "oga we done kidnap you and your money na N100 million". Unconsciously laughter escaped from my mouth and the guy said "oga if you laugh again I go kill you". I said "sorry oga na mistake I no laugh no vex". He asked how much I was ready to pay as ransom? I told him that I did not have money but that I could ask my brother to raise N500,000 for them. The guy said I was mad and that they did not come to the road for that kind of money and that the last they would take is N50million and that if I refused to pay they would kill me. I kept pleading.
They continued questioning all the abductees. I kept reciting Psalms 91 and 23 and was praying seriously under my breath. At a point they left us alone and went a distance from us. They were making calls.
Suddenly they returned and asked who could ride a bike amongst us. A young man amongst us said he could ride. One if them came to me and said take your phone. He returned one of my three phones taken from me. I could not believe my ears. He gave it to me and asked me to pocket it , and I did.
The young man started the bike and the instructed two of my co-abductees to carry me on the bike and said we should go straight that we will hit the Express road. The eight if us were released just like that. It was divine intervention. The release was after over three hours with them.
