Not only Owerri but the entire State. Fault finders are the ones selling the lie which people who don't know are forced to accept. Okorocha has changed the face of Orlu and Okigwe as well as hundreds of towns and villages he built roads, roundabouts, hospitals, schools, new markets, ICT centers and more. He is the only Governor to build 27 ICT centers in all LGAs of his State as well as run free education from Primary to University.
".... changed the face of Orlu and Okigwe, as well as...."

The face of your lga changes if a governor expands a few kilometers of existing roads in your town, then returns to Owerri and uses the federal allocations to your lga and other lgas of the state to build and expand Owerri, makes rest of Imo state remain many decades of underdevelopment behind Owerri.

Continue. Fake takes and advice to Okorocha from people like you have ultimately placed Okorocha in political crisis.

This your thread about Owerri and Rochas Okorocha remains for you. Alas, you have to count the political and business losses from your cause and Okorocha's cause.

Tripartite approach to development in Imo state - I read someone advise gov Okorocha to do that.

That's a best advise no body, perhaps ever gave to Okorocha until it is too late.

Under the grounds of Okigwe and Owerri zones lay tens of Billions of Naira worth water supply infrastructures built by successive governors of Imo state, infrastructures that can be reactivated by any future governor to supply treated running water to nearly all the 15 lgas in Okigwe and Owerri zones.

Ohakim was preparing to start Orlu regional water scheme designed to supply nearly all the 12 lgas of Orlu zone until Ohakim was sent out of office.

Since Okorocha became governor, no mention has been made by IMSG about Orlu regional water scheme.

Okorocha was massively voted by people in Orlu Municipal lga with the hope he would start work on Orlu regional water supply scheme.

Zonal Sports Centres? Orlu has had no stadium since 2012, no thanks to Okorocha.

Okorocha set up a committee in Oct 2016 to relocate IMSUTH, the only university education institution in Orlu zone, to Owerri.

Orlu zone shall survive Okorocha govt.

Just look at the next clown that has been positioned to help Okorocha pillage, destroy and loot the state to the next level. Meanwhile these imbe.cilic Imolites like ofuzo are not worried nor even discussing it but rather living in denial.
For many people of Imo state, anyone not talking about modernization and expansion of Owerri is bullshitting.

98% of Okorocha/Nwosu development projects are in Owerri; outside Owerri, it is mostly scrapping one or two existing roads and place thin asphalt on top.

Owerri adopted Uche Nwosu to succeed Okorocha for continuity of Okorocha's expansion and modernization of Owerri at the devastating cost of retardation in Orlu and Okigwe zones.

The socioeconomic outcome of Okorocha/Nwosu concentration on expansion and modernization of Owerri:

(1) if one square meter of land in Owerri sells for N10,000,
one square meter of land in Okigwe or Orlu sells for N10;
thus, an indigene of Owerri sells a plot of land and becomes a millionaire overnight;

but
an indigene of Orlu or Okigwe sells one plot of land and still remains poor.

(2) an average civil servant indigene of Owerri can afford to train five wards who attend lectures from home in the tertiary institutions in Owerri;

an indigene of Orlu or Okigwe can't afford to train as half that number in Owerri.

From all corners, a barely-educated governor of Imo state concentrating his government's development projects in Owerri is impoverishing most of the people of his state that live outside Owerri, but enriching fewer persons that originate from Owerri.
Define Apartheid.

Any person not from Owerri who does not condemn the Apartheid development policy going on in Imo state must be dumb.

But why must Owerri develop but SCANT development in Orlu?

I don't see huge industries in Owerri built by indigenes of Owerri.

Owerri development is mostly from ill-informed State governors using the federal allocations meant for development of entire Imo state to build Owerri, while rest of Imo state remain far behind Owerri.

The video above of the happy Owerri man even shows it.

But people cluster the dusty, muddy and decadent streets in Orlu.

That shows that something is seriously wrong with Okorocha's development policy in Imo state, and we don't want a new state governor to follow Okorocha's pattern.

Unbelievable! Driving around owerri for half an hour without seeing even one KEKE. Thank God for okorocha's foresight. Next thing is to force owners of commercial and residential properties to do landscaping. This will mostly solve the problem of dust, and the brown that envelope the landscape.
Beautiful boulevards in Owerri but with very scanty human and vehicular movements. Implication: successive governors of Imo state waste the federal allocations to Imo state and its lgas to build boulevards in Owerri, while the larger population of the state live on dusty, muddy and squalid streets, especially in Orlu and Okigwe areas.
If Owerri has 1 million inhabitants, Orlu Municipal has half as much, or more; followed by Okigwe Municipal.

Imo state now needs a fresh governor to redress the huge development imbalance between its three senatorial districts.

It's no longer acceptable to have a state where one district is over-developed by the state government, while the other two districts are left decades behind.

It's completely false the entrenched belief in Imo state that a state capital is supposed to be developed by government more than any other town or lga in the state.

[ I will restore sanity in the governance of Imo State and in the process rebuild the state", with these words, the former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Professor Jude Njoku, declared his gubernatorial ambition ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Njoku is gunning to take over from the outgoing Owelle Rochas Okorocha, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing a huge crowd of party faithfuls at the PDP state Secretariat along Okigwe Road, Owerri, Njoku assured the people of the state that all hope is not lost as he is coming with the a restoration agenda for the state.

Njoku said he will "harness the abundant human and material resources and channel our collective energies to place Imo State among the top flight states in the country".

He assured the people that he is the most qualified and prepared candidate to lead the collective charge to "reposition our dear state through agriculture, infrastructure, social sector, using the instrumentality of a revived civil service and collaborative support of the private sector and local and international development partners".

The former Vice Chancellor of FUTO declared to a cheering crowd of supporters that Imo State will witness massive agricultural development as Oil Palm production will be revamped to a level that it will be a major income earner for the state and it's people.

According to him emphasis on food production will go beyond roots and rubber crops but will also expand to livestock production, pointing out that "agriculture will be made very attractive and made to encompass the entire value chain; from production to storage, processing, preservation and marketing".

"I promise to open up Imo State through aggressive construction of qualitative roads and drainages. Reputable construction firms will be engaged to build roads and bridges across the state. Ring roads will be constructed within and around Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe in order to decongest the major urban centres of the state", the gubernatorial hopeful further stated.

He assured that new satellite towns will be established while local councils will be encouraged to construct and maintain rural roads, stressing that "Urban water supply will be restored and all water plants that have been moribund over the years revived and made functional once again".

Njoku stated that education will be given a pride of place under his stewardship in the state, adding that apart from prompt payment of salaries and allowances, the institutions must be supported to secure full accreditation for all their academic programmes".

"The state government will partner with the private sector in educational development, particularly in the establishing more quality private universities to increase access to tertiary education for our citizens", he further promised.

On health, Njoku assured that health centers would be provided in each community in the state while at least two fully functional general hospitals in each of the three senatorial zones of the state.

According to him, "Imo State University Teaching Hospital shall be designated and equipped to be a centre of excellence in medicine so that they can also produce quality medical doctors Inna timely manner".

The declaration which caused traffic gridlock along the busy Okigwe Road had in attendance all the State Executive Committee members of PDP, other key stakeholders including Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Senator Sam Daddy Anyanwu among other party faithfuls.
Ends.

His manifesto is top shot, spot on the needs of Imo state, - water supply, expansion of the three foremost urban centers of Imo state; agricultural revolution, health care, etc.
His manifesto throws away the Apartheid development policy of the incumbent governor obsessed with state capital and mega city, hence he collects the federal allocations to Imo state and its local government areas to demolish existing infrastructures in the state capital and builds whatever suits his fancy in the state capital.

First, is the water scheme still functioning in owerri? No, Because the last I check there is no functioning water board in owerri.
Even if am to be the next governor of Imo state, owerri must a bit stable before moving to any zone cus is the state capital.

Lets use Abuja as a case study:
Abuja municipal is almost equipped with good infrastructure compare to other lgas in abuja.. Ranging from good roads, water board scheme, 22hrs stable light e.tc compare to places like gwagwalada and kuje..
Am not saying other zones should be left out but the capital should be put in place before any other place because the state capital attracts investors to the state.
Through the first multi-billion Naira water supply scheme provided to Owerri by IMSG beginning the 1980s, Owerri became urbanized, expanded by attracting some population from Okigwe and Orlu zones whose water supply schemes proposed the same time by the same IMSG could not come through due to military intervention in 1983.

Owerri expanded.

But if the population of Owerri Capital territory today is One million people, Orlu is more than half that; same is Okigwe.
On weekends and festivities, Owerri is nearly dry, as more people move to Orlu areas where they have homes; lesser move to Okigwe areas.

Now, you support IMSG building a second water supply scheme for Owerri, while the water supply schemes of Okigwe and Orlu are not yet realized?
Because you believe Imo state was created for development of Owerri zone only?

Well, some of you in Imo state were fed the fat lie that a State capital is supposed to be developed by government more than any other town in the state.

Rochas Okorocha as governor cemented the lies on your faces.

FYI:
The government of Nigeria created states and demarcated the states into senatorial zones and local government areas for uniform development of Nigeria, not for development of only the state capital.

Imo state was not created for development of only Owerri.

If you build a second water supply scheme for Owerri zone without realizing the water supply schemes for Okigwe and Orlu zones, the outcome shall be Orlu and Okigwe zones shrinking to insignificant proportions while development and expansion of Owerri boom to sky level

Yeah, but you didn't answer my question. Where and when were they built? I left nigeria in the early eighties, and as far back as I can remember, there was no water running in major nigerian cities for ages now. Also, building water pipelines are not enough. You have to build the right ones, with the right pressure to pump water directly to people's kitchens and bathrooms. Owerri have probably tripled in size since it was made the state capital. My point is that whatever pipeline infrastructure you built ages ago are probably OBSOLETE by now.
The 1980s you said you left Nigeria were when Mbakwe govt started to build the surface water supply schemes for Owerri, Okigwe, Aba and Umuahia.

Pipe borne water flew in Owerri from the scheme until Ohakim government.

After many explanations that under the grounds of Okigwe and Owerri zones lay water supply infrastructures, including the modern conduit pipes, you still de ask me where and when they were laid.

If they make you Imo State governor tomorrow, you shall start a second surface water supply scheme for Owerri zone from Otamiri or Nworie River, while the state government is yet to build the water supply scheme for Orlu zone.

When they ask you why, your reply shall be: because Owerri is state capital.

I don't understand your logic! Because humans eat and drink first, they should die soon after drinking polluted water contaminated with faeces. Like I said, those two things (water and waste treatment plants) are built at the same time, side by side. When you guys build things, build them holistically instead of building one without the other. Don't build houses in an area, and then come back ten years later to build roads and water and gas pipelines. That's why all our cities look like shitholes. When you build, be sure to add everything that is needed. Cut your coat according to your size to what you can afford.
You said the underground of owerri and okigwe have water distribution pipes. Are you kidding? What year where they built? Which area were they built? This are serious issues we are talking about here. There's no water pipeline infrastructure built years ago that is relevant today. If you are building water treatment plants today, you must start from scratch to build the pipeline infrastructure to evacuate the water to people's residences and commercial buildings.
Bros,
Once modern water pipes are laid underground, they last for ages. The water pipes in Owerri and Okigwe are modern.

Perhaps you didn't know: there are huge water pipes under the grounds all over Owerri Municipal lga, extending to a few other lgas of Owerri zone.

there are also huge water pipes all the way from Imo River in Umuna, Onuimo lga, to Okigwe urban lga, and extending to a few other lgas in Okigwe senatorial zone.

Other water supply infrastructures are there in these two zones, but may have become non-serviceable by now.

Water treatment plants can also be established in Owerri and Okigwe zones once the regional water supply schemes of both zones are restarted.

You seem to have misread everything I just posted up there, but let me try to repeat. I don't know the population of owerri or most of the other nigerian cities. My guess is that most nigerian cities are probably 200,000 thousand or above. Without pipeline infrastructure to distribute any water generated from the treatment plants, the whole thing will be a complete waste. When you go to civilized countries, water pipe lines are built smack in the middle of their roads. When you drive on their roads, all the bumps you encounter are from water pipeline manhole covers. Some other bumps are the gas pipeline covers that pipe gas directly to people's homes because they don't distribute gas with gas cylinders like it's done in nigeria. Basically, what I'm really trying to say, is that building water treatment plants without building water pipelines infrastructure doesn't make sense. To build water pipelines in an already built up city will be a complete nightmare. Of course, it's doable, but you have to dig up all the tarred roads, sidewalks, dig up people's pavements, front yard and back yards. Just too many diggings up, that it will be so costly and cumbersome that states may not have the resources to do that.

By the way, I'm writing here about all the infrastructural problems facing our people. I just didn't come here and start writing about it. I've thought through everything. I also have solutions. Yes I do, and you better believe it. After leaving nigeria to overseas and my first coming back after ten years, I was SHOCKED of how undeveloped nigeria was, and how everything is done the wrong way, I mean practically everything, that it was so mind boggling. I even begin to wonder if this was how nigeria was before I left, or that things have drastically changed to make the whole place look like Hiroshima after the atomic bomb blast.
Humans eat and drink before urinating and excretion.

We need to have pipe borne water before waste water treatment plants.

Under the grounds of Owerri and Okigwe zones lay huge water distribution pipes. The water supply schemes for each zone cost Imo state government tens of billions of Naira, beginning from Mbakwe administration to Udenwa's.

Any state government of Imo can start from those water pipes to restore pipe borne water to Owerri and Okigwe zones.

Ironically, the water supply project also proposed at the same period by Imo state government for the largest and most populated zone of Imo state - Orlu - is yet to be started.

It's hard to understand what you wrote at times... the reason is beyond the scope of this discourse.

Ok, so, you guys are calling it water schemes. Nothing really wrong with the name, but I think you are actually referring to WATER treatment plant. There's also WASTE treatment plants. Both of them go hand in hand, that they are usually referred to as water and waste treatment plants. I've been discussing on enugu thread with some folks about what are clearly missing on all our developmental strides and how we got it all wrong. WASTE and WATER treatment plants is a major one. As a matter of fact, those two things should be the FIRST thing you develop before you even begin to build any houses. Unfortunately, we did not do that. So, what we have all over nigeria, are cities with populations that are more than 200,000 people using boreholes for drinking water and septic tanks to discharge HUMAN WASTE. I've even seen boreholes that are a mere ten feet away from septic tanks. THIS IS THE MOTHER OF ALL ABOMINATIONS. So I'm shocked that you are talking about owerri water scheme which is a FLUKE as far as I'm concerned because it does not exist. Even if you build a water treatment plant to supply owerri with drinking water, the infrastructure that will be built to make it possible, for it to reach every owerri house hold, will cost too much that the state might not afford it. An infrastructural revolution have to take place in nigeria before we even begin to get it right. I don't know if you guys know this, but we are COMPLETELY bleeped UP in nigeria. This thing we do in nigeria where people SHIT in the toilet and flush it down to a septic tank that was dug in the backyard, is VERY VERY BAD, DANGEROUS AND UNHYGIENIC and is something that is not practiced in any civilized country of the world. What they have in civilized countries is water and waste treatment plants in all the major population centers. When you SHIT in Washington DC and flush it down the pipes, it goes into pipes which is then pumped to a waste treatment plant. When it gets to a waste treatment plants, the water is treated with chemicals to remove all it's IMPURITIES before it's discharged to a man made river or allowed to flow on a man made river. The isrealis use their treated waste for irrigation for example. That way, their are no leftover CONTAMINATED ground that have the possibility of contaminating ground water which will end up polluting and contaminating borehole water.
Good. Now you seem to have come to the understanding of the issues at stake in Okorocha's Apartheid development policy, instead of you and others' belief that I have been wailing about Okorocha's abandonment of Orlu.

Once pipe borne water flows in any area, life goes to the area, modernity and urbanization shift to the area.

The waste water treatment issue you harped on is not difficult to procure once running water is provided.

Building eight lane stress in Owerri without first providing TREATED running water is most ridiculous.

Digging water boreholes at every 100 or so meters in Imo state is most dangerous.

Meanwhile, Owerri shouts "Owelle Mere yaa" for any eight lane streets and flyover in Owerri.

Udenwa remains a political force in Imo state, more so, in Orlu zone, despite Owerri disparaging him for his efforts to extend development infrastructures beyond Owerri zone.
Okorocha's efforts to succeed himself as governor without Udenwa's blessing shall come to nought - exercise in futility.

Udenwa was the only past governor of Imo state who attended Rochas Okorocha's inauguration as governor of Imo state in 2011.

@Smart Polician.
If yours truly kolos struggling for uniform development of my Imo state, instead of stopping a governor Okorocha using the allocations of Imo state and its lgas to destroy existing roads in Owerri, and builds you eight lane roads in Owerri, while humans in rest of Imo state live on squalid, dilapidated streets, remain decades of development behind Owerri, so be it.

THE UGLY EFFECTS OF GOVT CONCENTRATING ON BUILDING ONE CITY FIRST BEFORE OTHERS IN A STATE.

A governor with the mindset of building Imo state capital city first may start a 2ND REGIONAL WATER SUPPLY SCHEME FOR OWERRI ZONE,

WHILE THE VAST MAJORITY OF IMO POPULATION LIVING IN OKIGWE AND ORLU ZONES ARE YET TO BENEFIT FROM IMSG PROPOSAL TO PROVIDE REGIONAL WATER SUPPLY SCHEMES FOR THE THREE ZONES.

The first city grows into Mega City Status while other towns and communities in the state degenerate to squalid Status.
Imo state is now a classical example of this phenomenon.

For example: Owerri zone has benefited immensely from its share of the FIVE REGIONAL SURFACE WATER SUPPLY SCHEMES proposed by Imo state government for Aba, Okigwe, Orlu, Owerri and Umuahia - starting from Mbakwe administration. Aba and Umuahia benefited fully from the scheme.

Okigwe and Orlu zones yet to benefit.

Okigwe surface water supply scheme (like that of Owerri) cost tens of billions of Naira, and was completed during the administration of Gov. Udenwa, however, gov. Ohakim failed to do the final distribution aspects of pipe borne water from the scheme to Okigwe zone.

But the multi-billion Naira water supply infrastructures are still lying beneath the surface of both Owerri and Okigwe zones waiting for the next governor of Imo state who understands the import of pipe borne water to reactivate the water supply schemes for Owerri and Okigwe zones.

Mbakwe did not start Orlu regional water scheme because of his political differences with Ideato-born Collins Obih.
Orlu water supply scheme was designed to supply nearly all the 12 lgas in Orlu zone through Njaba/Orashi Rivers.

In fact, the availability of pipe borne water in Owerri contributed immensely to the rapid development and expansion of Owerri.

The federal government divided states into senatorial zones and local government areas purposely for uniform development of every state.

A state government that develops one city/zone first, (as is in Imo state) must subsequently channel most of its development funds to providing new infrastructure to match with the expanding city/zone.
At some point, the state government may not even afford money to fill pot holes on roads outside
the only expanding city.

Result: instead of providing for Orlu and Okigwe zonal regional water supply schemes, IMSG may start to think of a second water supply scheme for Owerri zone.

The importance of TREATED pipe borne water - not water from private water bore holes - cannot be over-emphasized.

Mutemenot:
Teddy come be like chicken wey rain hammer ..
Meanwhile make una remind okorocha say one bridge collapse for Orlu zone
The name Orlu sounds bitter in Rochas Okorocha's ears.

If the collapsed bridge is in Owerri zone, Okorocha shall hurriedly repair it.

At least, Abagworo shall vote for any Okorocha candidate for governor.

After May 29, 2019, Okorocha shall be representing his village in Ogboko Community Council.
