I have always known that Abagworo and Chino are friends. Ikwerre and Igala joining hands to put a knife among Igbos.
Abagworo is not Igbo. He was imported from Plateau State to Imo state to do Publicity job for Rochas Okorocha's IMSG.

Whenever Abagworo is bored on his job, he would mention the call signs: "Anambra state" or "Gov. Obiano" to invite his comrade to come and spam this thread with non-decrepit photos..

As Okorocha reduced Imo state to Owerri and his village, Abagworo the stranger who hardly understands that Imo state extends beyond Owerri publicizes Okorocha's Owerri projects, they dub them Imo state projects.

While Abagworo does his job, some people from Owerri who profit economically from Okorocha's focus on Owerri, at the expense of rest of Imo state, clap for Abagworo; one even had the gut to ask rest of Imo state to adopt Owerri as our collective heritage. But the profiteers resent any governor that tried to establish IMSG development infrastructures outside Owerri zone.

Truth is: on more than equal measures, Okorocha's obsession with, and excessive focus on development of Owerri, arrest the development of rest of Imo state outside Owerri.

Nigeria's oil is guarded for foreigners through having the least educated northerners as president of Nigeria.

Who pays compensation for pollution and how much depend on who leads a country.

Northern Nigeria is far removed from the disasters of oil pollution in the Nigerdelta. So northern leaders of Nigeria don't care a hoot about getting oil companies to pay compensation for pollution.

Nigeria was politically restructured by northern military dictators such that northern politicians have the majority to call the shots in Nigeria irrespective of whether the president is from south or north.

These factors bring together a Christian Bishop and a renowned Islamist President.

State government spent millions of Naira and established a Campus of AICE in Orlu, the campus was closed down and taken back to Owerri immediately after the governor left. Imo Tax Payers money wasted.

Owerri has blackmailed every governor of Imo state to relocate IMSUTH from Orlu to Owerri. Owerri says a teaching hospital is not supposed to be outside the state capital.

Owerri relocated the state library in Orlu to Owerri immediately after the governor who established the library left office. But the state library in Owerri was established by East Central State government based in Enugu.

Thirty seven years after Imo state was created, no State library exists outside Owerri, but the library at Owerri has gone through all sorts of expansion and beautification and reconstruction. What sort of state is Imo?

All three publicly subsidized universities in Imo state are located in Owerri.

All federal and state housing estates in Imo state are located in Owerri. The little housing estate in Okporo Orlu was never allowed to come to fruition.

Imo state governments have built two cities in one Owerri - old and new Owerri, because every Imo state governor is blackmailed to believe the falsehood that a State capital is supposed to be more developed than any other town in the same state. Some Imo citizens even bought the falsehood.
Because of the falsehood, 95% of the landmass of Imo state remain backward, no water, no roads, no drainage system, no modernity, because Owerri's development must first touch the sky.

What sort of state is Imo?
Politics › Re: Few Pics From Imo State by discusant:
HOW IMO LOST MONEY SPINNER TOWNS.

When Abia state was carved out from Imo state, present Imo state lost some development infrastructures, including IMSU, to Abia state.

Fears abound that next state creation exercise, either Orlu or Okigwe must be cut off from present Imo state.

That's how Owerri-born governor of Imo state ignored equity and zoning but located IMSU in Owerri which then hosted FUTO, AICE and POLYNEKEDE, he ignored a modern and bigger University Facility he was shown in Orlu at the closed Orlu campus of AICE.

Earlier, a modern campus of AICE built by Mbakwe in Orlu with aid from the World Bank was suddenly closed down immediately after Mbakwe left office.
Students and staff were transferred to Owerri where students literally slept on top of the other in crowded hostels or rented rooms in Owerri.

Then began the unwritten policy of Owerri people that every notable development infrastructure in Imo state must not be allowed to be located outside Owerri zone.
Every governor of Imo state started to be blackmailed to abide by the unwritten policy.

The stunted development of IMSUTH established in Orlu is attributed to the unwritten policy of Owerri that no worthy development infrastructure of Imo state government must be outside Owerri zone.

Gov. Okorocha succumbed fullest to the blackmail from those who want Imo state to have only Owerri as a developed area in the state. He even opened another campus of IMSU in Owerri zone.

MONEY SPINNING TOWNS?

Industries existed in present Imo state during the 1980s.

During the early 1980s, Imo state government under Sam Mbakwe officially recognised Aba, Umuahia and Orlu as the industrial hubs of then Imo state because of the large number of industrial establishments in those three areas. Mbakwe acquired lands for industrial estates in these areas and in other major towns of then Imo state.

Later, Gov. Amadi Ikwechegh carried the policy of Mbakwe forward. He awarded contract for drainage and pavement of dozens of Orlu urban roads. The job was discontinued after Ikwechegh left office, after Abia State was carved out from Imo state. The job was never done till today.

In the late 2000s, governor Okorocha officially reduced Orlu to a rural area that doesn't deserve urban roads and drainage systems, etc.

IMO STATE NOW HAS MONEY GUZZLING CAPITAL CITY, NO MONEY-SPINNER CITY.

Kwontinue with propagating governor Okorocha's crude belief that because Owerri is capital of Imo state, therefore Owerri must gulp nearly all capital development funds of Imo state.

Okorocha does not understand that as he builds only in Owerri, as time goes on, most of Imo state's development funds shall go into maintaining and sustaining the infrastructures in the expanding Owerri; thus leaving little or nothing to build anything, including roads, for the more than 95% of Imo state that is not part of Owerri.

Imo state needs soundly educated governor from 2019, nothing like continuity of Okorocha's Apartheid development policy of building one city, Owerri, at the detriment of the entire land mass of Imo state.

This supports my stance that all is not well with the development pattern of Imo state government which concentrates in Owerri.
In two neighborhood states for example: Anambra and Abia, educated Anambra people can live in Awka, Nnewi, Onitsha; educated Abians can comfortably live in Umuahia and Aba.

Owerri capital territory is less than 5% of the land mass of Imo state.

The industrial lands in Orlu and Okigwe are still intact today.

Orlu elders marched to Okorocha in Owerri last year and asked him to treat Orlu deservedly.

Okorocha's reply was the elders should come to claim Owerri as their own.

In that case, let the resources meant for Imo state be shared for the whole state, let all local government like, onuimo, ohaji-egbema, ngor-okpaala, get equal attention like owerri, orlu and okigwe, let the state govt share equally the meager sum we get from Fed Allocation.
Maybe then we would all be satisfied, since owerri is not ur heritage.

This illogical and clannish behavior of igbo people is what has made us a laughing stock in Nigeria.

Like I said earlier, No local government should be over looked but owerri should be our main focus and point of attraction for foreigners and investments to Imo state, and orlu, okigwe, oguta and other smaller towns should get attention in a lesser fashion (i do not mean no attention at all) in that order.
Industries make a Mega CITY. How many industries have you attracted to Owerri?

You have just told us to accept IMSG to focus on developing Owerri -- with the federal allocations of the lgas of Imo state.
You must defend your stance and also defend gov. Rochas Okorocha, your accomplice in "focus on Owerri.".

But can't you figure out why Rochas Okorocha is focusing on Owerri?

If Okorocha had built his Ikemba Ojukwu Square in Ahiara Mbaise where it should have had historical significance and create tourism,

if some other public institutions Okorocha concentrates in Owerri had been built elsewhere in Imo state outside Owerri, that can't stop Owerri from becoming a Mega City if industries are attracted to Owerri.

You feign ignorance of the provisions of Nigeria's constitution that demarcated Imo state into three senatorial districts and 27 lgas. Purpose? For governments at all levels to pursue uniform development of all parts of the state.

The feds do not ask the state governors to collect the lga allocations to develop the state capital.

You cause bad blood and division in Imo state as you maintain that federal allocations to the local government areas, allocations meant to fill pot holes, asphalt roads, build culverts, markets, etc in Ohaji/Egbema, Onuimo, Ideato N/S, Orlu, Isiala Mbano, and rest of Imo state lgas, be invested in building Owerri Mega City. Wicked.

However, in asmuch as i am a proponent of channel majority of fund to build a reputation city we all can be proud of .
i think same time other towns can be open up as well within breaking the bank.
Creating new roads- tarred or untarred
Aquiring land just outside currently city limit from owners and loaning it to developers to build and sell on.

Focusing on main artery to the state capital.

empower LGA to carry out simply patching and filling to make roads in their LGA motorable.

Creating state wide transport link. with bus stops and effective transport management system.

Awarding 100 million to each LGA = x 27 = 2.7Billion, to
. Redeisgn and modernize each LGA city center with big walkways ( big; is essential as when there is funds to lay water pipe, internet etc , there would be a ready right of way fo it )
. Create 4 parks each in each LGA.
. Aquire Land for "Local" shopping mall to be built by investors.
. Each LGA should set out a industrial area for investors to set up industries- whatever is it. Having the ready land for investors help encourage and attract investment .
A most divisive person is any one who out of ignorance of history maintains that IMSG must concentrate on building a City of Owerri, while different cities like Okigwe and Orlu wait, or perhaps, accorded trivial attention - as it has been in the last seven years.

My knowledge of Economics tells me that as Owerri grows, there must be increasing need for funds of IMSG to match with the expansion needs of Owerri.

Under these circumstances, there can be no more funds to even asphalt roads in Orlu and Okigwe and other places. These towns nay even go extinct because of Owerri. Wicked.

Can you face an indigene of Orlu, Oguta or Okigwe and tell him that his once growing City can be left to go into extinction because you want only Owerri to be the only modern place in Imo state?

Most US state capital cities are not the largest cities in their respective states

Tallahassee is the state capital of Florida. Tallahassee is not 1/5 as developed or large as any of the first four main cities of the state of Florida.

Come home to Nigeria, in Delta state, you can't easily tell between Asaba and Warri which is more modern and larger than the other.
Nearly every development infrastructure seen in Asaba is in Warri.

In Anambra state, government provide for Onitsha the largest city, provide for Awka, provide for Nnewi on near equal measures.

It's only in Imo state that crooks bandy about the falsehood that a State capital is supposed to be more developed than any other place in the state.

You keep talking about a central water system, I'm born and based in lagos and I schooled in Ph city, there is no central water system in these two states, you have to wake up to reality, this is Nigeria, not run by government ever survives.

Someone in an earlier post said why would someone open a roofing factory in his village, and abagworo was against him. Look let me tell you, I'm a trained economist and economics of scale helps qyicken industrial development to a large extent, look at the hotel industry at owerri, as several hotels keep springing around that small city (new owerri), road expansion, electricity penetration, Population in-flux, and other business to service this hotel industries move in as well, look at avu and Umuguma that was once a forest before hand, there are real estate business booming because of the Hotel business there.

If we can build owerri to a stage of national and world acclaim, there is nothing holding imo state or south east in general from going further. Now I'm not saying other communities should be neglected, No. But emphasis should be made on owerri as the center of attraction, and used as a bait to attract investments in Imo. We need the population both foreign and local(organized market), investments(foreign) if we really want to see our home develop in our life time. Else in the next 40 years, we will still be talking about telling igbos to bring their investments home.
It's like a man from Abuja insulting people from Owerri, telling them to Shorup and let the president of Nigeria build us Abuja as a heritage for every Nigerian, before Owerri can be accorded attention..

Owerri is NEVER a collective heritage of all Imo citizens, Tufiakwa. Owerri is a collective heritage of indigenes of Owerri.

If I go to Owerri as an Imo citizen, I must pay rent to an Owerri land owner. Same for every Imo state citizen not indigenous to Owerri. The Owerri land owner gets richer than land owners outside Owerri.

If you are not from Owerri and your village has no means of urbanization and modernity even in the next century, allow other once developing towns in Imo state to see modernity, not Owerri alone.

In 1967, there were hardly any differences in levels of urbanisation between Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe.

No saner man from Orlu or Okigwe will ever accept another people's City as his her heritage.

Ohakim was preparing to start Orlu regional water scheme, but since Okorocha came to power, mention had not been made of the water project for Orlu.

Abagworo,

Soon you shall post those four roads totalling 5 km at Orlu central expanded by Okorocha and now decorated with street lights. The roads are for joining the road to Okorocha's Ideato home. Even the Owerri through Orlu to Ideato road is meant to lead to Rochas Private Eastern Palm University in Ideato South.

Abagworo:
This your lie and insult against Ogboko and Ideato all in a bid to pitch Orlu people against each other cannot work. Better carry it to your village.
Disprove these facts if you must earn your pay from Okorocha Rochas.

Because of Okorocha's sworn enmity against Orlu due to ancient inter communal feuds:

1; Since 2012, Gov. Okorocha scrapped Old Orlu-Owerri Road starting from centre of Orlu to Y-Junction Nkwume.

2; Since 2012, Okorocha govt scrapped a road at Orlu from St. Joseph's Catholic Church leading to the International market, since 2012, only a narrow alleyway leads to the market which is the main economic life of Orlu. The market employs up to 10,000 people.

3; Since 2012, Okorocha scrapped the road from TESAC to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Orlu.

4; Since 2011, Okorocha has refused to asphalt the 1.3km only road leading to Imo state University teaching hospital in Orlu, despite series of students protests.

5; In 2011, Okorocha dismantled a sports stadium built in Orlu by a reputable stadium construction firm. After that, the stadium seats rot away, the flood lights decayed.

6; In 2016, Okorocha looked Orlu elders in the eyes and told them to relocate to Owerri to claim the city as theirs. The elders went to Owerri to plead with Rochas to complete the road projects abandoned by Okorocha government in Orlu area.

But isn't Rochas from Orlu?
Did you read my take well?

Rochas Okorocha is not from Orlu per se. His Ogboko community is in Ideato South, in Orlu zone. A hill separates Ogboko from Orlu.
Ancient inter communal disagreements crowd the minds of Rochas Okorocha when it concerns his Ogboko and Orlu.

Ironically, nearly 1/4 of the population of Orlu urban lga are people from his Ogboko and rest of Ideato.

Most of them can't afford to rent a room in Owerri

Fifty years from now, Owerri shall not need the 8-lanes roads of Rochas Okorocha govt..
Money wasted on one of the huge street light pillars on Owerri roads could have constructed two to three of the dilapidated streets in another town in Imo state.

Metal roof tops are also built across the boulevards in Owerri. Unimaginable.

Okorocha hired megaphones make the hard sale that Owerri is all about Imo state. Crooks in alliance.

Instead of extending urbanization and expansion to get another city or other cities in Imo state, Okorocha wastes the funds of Imo state in Owerri.

Truth: Okorocha carried ancient inter communal antagonism to Government House. He thus sees Orlu and its people as old-time enemies.

Okigwe is a mere collateral victim of Okorocha's sworn enmity against the name Orlu.

Many in Orlu now believe that Rochas must have struggled to become governor of Imo state in order to settle old scores against Orlu.
First six months in office, Okorocha dismantled the roofs of a modern sports stadium in Orlu. The seats of the stadium have decayed, the flood lights disused.

The Major problem with Rochas and his development, is lack of planning.

No detailed plan before embarking on any work.

Rochas travels and sights a piece of structure, once he gets back to Owerri, he assembles his local contractor and demands the monument, feature be replicated in the state.

Now, consider the giant lamppost he is erecting aside the roads. They are so big , their bases take up most of the walk way ( pedestrian walkway)
such that people are having to now walk on the road to evade the post . Essentially , when the sideways are to be properly constructed , the pillar and maybe the post will have to go - another waste of scarce fund by Rochas.

Schools: Rochas undoubted reconstructed a few decent schools in mostly owerri, and build over 100- 300 primary school in electrol ward ( at various stages of abandonment) . Imagine if this was properly planned ?
27 Standard school could have been built. one in each local governement, with exisiting schools, given a decent facelift, paint and ceiling and roofing .

Hospital: Imagine embarking on building 27 General hospitals ? That would have produce one standard western standard hospital. Rebuilt the Univeristy teaching hospital. And the a Nursing college.

Roads: why build 6 lane roads, when many major road within the state , even owerri is still in shambles. makes absolutely no sense.

Ugly monuments- see the Aka chi, a waste of resources. abandoned, becos if was not planned. no after thought of what it would be , how to commercialize it etc.

The only point i will not take away from Rochas, would be the expansion of the state capital, which is simply done by building roads ( very very substandard roads to connect areas of the state . same could have been replicated in the other towns in the state orlu and okigwe to help spurn developement in those areas too.
Imo state needs more enlighten folks - leadership and followers.

No place without pipe borne water is worth the name -
City.

When a governor who understands that water is the first need a leader must provide citizens emerges in Imo state, lots of the unnecessary Boulevards of Rochas Okorocha in Owerri have to be broken to pass pipes. Double cost.

It's believed that Mbakwe govt's water pipes of Owerri Regional Surface Water Supply costing billions of Naira have been uprooted or damaged by Okorocha government.
