AryEmber:Scattered Petals are used on wedding days. Petals especially rose petals are spread on the way as the bride to be March slowly to the altar, where a nervous husband is waiting, in the hand of her happy father. cc: Slimberry123 Ayoomodaddy |
Gregory Davis jumped with a start and scampered out of his seat. On a normal day, he wouldn't be afraid. But his fear had suddenly aggravated because Bisi, his girlfriend had complained about something touching her. When she told him, he hissed and joked that she was getting scared because they were watching horror film. And they had argued about it before she stormed into room, embittered that he was taking her for granted. So when the thing touched him. He ran to switch and turned it on. Sitting on the floor was Bisi, whose face was streaming with tears because she had been trying hard not to laugh. When the light came on, she burst into laughter and rolled. ' So...My baby can be afraid.. You, Greg...' She burst into laughter again. Gregory wanted to agree with her, but what touched him was hairy and had spike sort of. He looked around. Maybe she was the one actually. He blinked, gave her a wary smile and returned to watch ' Wrong Turn'. |
After seeing the progress of many unplanned Collabos and planned ones, I think we can make it work by just having a genre. Then seeing the way the Romance Collabo is going, I've decided to open Threads for other genres. https://www.nairaland.com/3764264/scattered-petals-romance-collabo-thread So, Introduce twists Characters from other stories etc But just know the Genre is Horror. Explore any method of writing. It's firstly for our fun then our creativity. Excite the next writer, make it as slow or as fast as you want. But remember it is Horror. Don't bother if you're not as good as others think you are, just drop the thing. I will compile it for the review 'Be Writertained Chronicles'. Mey we start. Organiser: www.writertainpublishers.com |
So in preparation for this story, we would make it any genre. But we would establish the facts and characters chart. Since we will be doing this very fast, anybody that comes first would do the next. This mean that you can't just introduce any character or anything for any reason.. We will build the character chart together. So let's start with these. Protagonist name: Antagonist name: |

The story is cooking, still boiling like herbs- Lavender, Rosemary etc... Be ready to read an exciting warfare between The Wife of Lucifer, her demon, her protégé, a baby Christian and a prostitute. I'm still stoking the fire of the witch's desire for a change, tending to the flickers of light of the Christian brother, firmly holding the candle of the witch's protege, giving power to the prostitute and making them have desires that would entertain and enlighten you. When she was refreshed, she made the elder tree disappear and then dragged Nancy's dead body-rather, body-turned-stone- into the house. That was when she had Heetah's time. ' Why did you allow Nancy to find me? I thought I was well hidden'. ' She sacrificed ten children for Lord Lucifer to reveal where you're', Heetah said. ' That's bribery'. ' That's how we roll'. ' That means I need human sacrifices'. ' On the full moon'. She knew that she should enjoy every bit of it, but maybe going to church of Fortune City was having a toll on her. She needed an escape from her way of life, from Lucifer. However, she didn't have time to really think of it before Heetah sent pain into all parts of her body. She squirmed and crumbled to the ground. |

Any good story-plot is always driven by two major things, and we would try to focus on them in series of posts. Most beautiful stories on earth are built on these two. Missing any of them or not balancing them can cause chaos in your story writing. There are a lot of stories built on them, and knowing about these would really increase the beauty of your story as well as readers’ engagement. The law behind story-writing is such that if you ever miss them the story would be dull. Okay, I know you want to know just what they are. They are Crisis and Conflict. These two elements are those that move the plots of stories. Knowing how to use either of them very well can really affect the ways your stories would be presented to the world. They would be discussed below: Crisis: this is called the emergency, the catastrophe, or the predicament of the story. The crisis of a story is such that makes your character want to fight for another thing. The other amazing aspect of crisis is the fact that they come to a resolution. A crisis in your story can be when a meteor is crashing towards the earth or when the character’s family decides to send his wife, and the character must intervene. The major thing in crisis is that the character’s life is placed on its head, and that builds a good plot. For this crisis to be increased in a story, there are other things you must know, and if you follow Writertain, we would post it very soon. However, one of them is that you must have a great or tangible passion for such crisis. It must be something you can explore with finesse. Conflict : this is the twin brother of crisis. It is the numerous frictions that can be found in a single work of fiction. The truth is that if your story is only based on crisis, then you won’t make your readers care about your characters and that is not encouraged. Conflict can be the character’s wife anger towards him for leaving her alone while his family was treating her in such callous way. Next week, we would talk about the major Keys to a great crisis. http://writertain.com/2017/09/19/%e2%80%8bthe-essential-core-of-plots/ |

Theme is the message or messages your story is trying to portray. It is the main reason you write your story in the first place. Many great stories had been hinged on themes that still ring a bell in our minds today. Looking at the books from two great Authors- Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, and Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie- we can see that the themes of their stories were embedded in the stories. While they spread the theme among different facets of their stories, they still had a way of presenting beautifully written plots to us, the readers. J.K Rowling wrote seven books about Harry Potter to show how people try to escape death. Chimamanda’s story was aimed at showing how some Nigerian Fathers treat their children. Despite the fact the theme is not that a bogus one, they wrote beautiful plots from these themes. The mysteries we are discussing are simply to show us how their theme worked in their stories. Many books had been considered thematically shallow for many reasons, but the major ones are always A Bad Plot with A Good Theme, Bad characterization and bad theme explanation. They are the missing elements and should be avoided at all cost. In this post, Writertain is aimed at making you have a brief understanding of these three major elements, and hope you garner enough to help your writing henceforth. A Bad Plot with A good theme: most times, some writers forget that the aim of a story is not to just teach, but to be entertained. Then, while the entertainment is going on, people begin to get little messages from different parts of the story. The best part of many books is the story being told. When many people miss this essential part (the plot), they would never think about the story, no matter if your theme is about how women are being killed by men regularly. Even if they do, they would remember it for the whack plot. Bad Characterization : Mary sues, evil queens, the nerds, the jerks, the crazy clowns, the never happy man, the miser, and a load of other characters are some of the main ways of expanding the theme of your story. Many people don’t do this. For a real theme to be fully examined, they have to be explored by your characters’ behavior. You don’t have to ram it down the readers’ throat before they know it. The theme is always discovered by readers but portrayed by the characters. They have to make people notice it. Bad Theme Expansion: many times, many writers don’t always fully explore the consequences of their theme. Themes are made of up of so many questions that preferably would make your story bloom. But many writers just touch it briefly. Although there are a lot of themes in any story, you must make sure the major ones are fully explored. http://writertain.com/2017/09/18/%e2%80%8bthe-missing-theme-elements-in-most-stories/ |

1. Title: Dangerous Passion Author: Tomilola Coco Adeyemo Category: Romance Price: ₦ 750 Description: Toni had always been a good girl, or at least, the closest version to what it was to be a good girl. And even though her life was uneventful and she was bored stiff years after her German husband, Michael Garrn passed, she was still clueless on how to truly lose herself until she met Olumide, the strip club owner. Olumide ‘Black Devil’ Okubanjo was the quintessential bad boy; he had the looks, the body and of course the attitude. He also did really dangerous things and he was on a mission in Toni’s life. However, one moment of passion was all these two needed for their lives to change but they also weren’t prepared for the dark secrets that would not only shake their very foundation but might have them both killed. 2. Title: Rekiya’s Tale Author: Tunde Leye Price: ₦ 100 No. of Words: 2105 Rating: Your Description: It doesn’t actually take as much as most people think it takes to fall in love. I was twenty seven and not so fresh out of school. I graduated at twenty from a Babcock University and was through with NYSC by twenty one. And as if I was walking on some gilded star, I landed a lucrative job as the assistant to the senior assistant to the directors of a major oil and gas firm (yes, assistants have their own assistants ). Over time, I have grown in the business, and three years ago, one of the directors decided to venture out on his own when the firm refused to take a risk and pursue a certain deal. As a sharp Lagos girl, I had rightly guessed that the deal was gold and so I moved with him when he set up. It wasn’t easy in that first year, moving from the comfort and certainty of my first office but now, we are a thriving oil and gas firm, and I am the senior assistant to him, the sole owner. I am more or less the next most powerful person in the company after him. And I am just twenty seven with my own house in Lekki Phase 1, a state of the art SUV and an official salon car with my own driver. And yes, I now have my own assistants. I was a bigz girlz, and I enjoyed life to the fullest, like Wizkid sang London today, Lagos tomorrow, Reks baybay lokeloke, omo jaiye jaiye *pauses to play the song and do an Azonto to it *. Back to the story…see what happened next! 3. Title: Baba Risi Author: Tunde Leye Description: Court! Order! The clerk shouted, banging his hand on the well worn exercise book on the table. Only, this clerk was not wearing a suit, he was wearing a colorful Ankara outfit with a sideways matching cap. The room was a medium sized one, with plastic chairs arranged neatly in two sets of four columns, leaving an aisle in the middle. The clerk sat on small wooden chair behind the desk he was banging in the space in front of the room. In the center of the front, an elevated, padded chair was behind a desk not unlike the clerk’s own, but much bigger. This was Baba Risi’s courtroom. See, in this area, we don’t take our disputes to the police or the courts. That’s too long and clumsy, and we really don’t understand all the grammars those people speak. Baba Risi is the chairman of the boys in the area and his court is where we settle everything. Matters are decided promptly, we understand what is being said and God help you if you disobey the judgments. Awon boys will deal with you ruthlessly. So we trust Baba Risi to deliver and he has been doing that for twenty years in our community now. Enjoy the adventures and activities of Baba Risi’s court! 4.Title: Never Let You Go Author: TM David-West (Prettyspicey) Category: Romance Price: ₦ 400 Description: When Anwuli left the son they had made together to go after Tobi Kojo-Edwards, she thought finding him will provide her answers… if nothing else. Karma And Songs There are times you overlook things, but not things like this. The beggar boy jumped back, and I wished I could accost the man that was shouting at him. But I had an obligation to be a gentleman. The man screamed again, ‘ don’t you dare use your filthy hand to touch my… Don’t touch my car’. His wife said something, and he gave her a glare that she made her keep quiet. I was another road user and felt for my wallet, which, of course, I removed money from for the beggar boy. As I drove off, I was pained that I couldn’t intervene, but God bless Lagos traffic. It works with Karma. The man, still frowning and the beggar boy still trying to make an ends meet. Sorry if I deceived you, but the boy wasn’t really a beggar. All he did was to wash the windscreen of cars for a living, despite being dirty or not. As I tapped my fingers to the beat, an amazing thing happened. As usual, a Lagos state Danfo bus tried to maneuver his way to the front, just like his colleagues were doing. But he was the roughest. He got to a pothole that was still drenching from yesterday’s rain, just the same time the angry driver drove near the spot, behind me. The danfo driver splashed the brown dirty water on the flashy car of the angry man. ‘ Oh my God’, the man shouted. In his anger, he stepped on his accelerator instead of his break or so it seemed, and hit me from behind. What a grand opportunity. I was a lawyer. As soon as the boy saw me getting out of my car and saw who hit me, he shouted, ‘The ting goes Skrrrat! Pap pap ka ka ka! Skidiki pap pap! And a pu pu drrrr boom! SKYAAA! Du du ku ku tun tun! Poom poom! ‘ http://writertain.com/2017/09/16/%e2%80%8bkarma-and-songs/ *the song is a trending song |

Naming your characters can be a difficult task. At times, many people mix up the names of their characters all in a bid to pick the best. And in doing that, so many people delve into the errors of forgetting to correct these names. At Writertain, we make it our business to enlighten you on that. This post would be briefly discussed, and would definitely be expanded in later posts. So to pick the perfect name for your character, try the following; 1. Consider the ethnicity : using a typical Nigerian setting, you can’t name a character Seyi, and then tell us he or she is from the northern Nigeria. To prove that, you have to show us his or her historical background at one point or the other. Ironically, your readers might first help you explain the reason you did that. But when you go far in the story, and your readers can’t find a means of juxtaposing the name and the background, you are beginning to lose them. The rope for captivating them is tearing, and if you don’t act fast, they might just fall into the ditch and refuse to come to your level anymore. 2. Generation: In Nigeria, especially, there are some names you can’t give to someone of the old generation especially Nigerian. Many people from the pre-colonial generations cannot be given an English name or have it as their middle name or whatever. Where as those born within the independence era must have an English name. It is considered to be a baptism name for those that became Christians. Many of them have a Biblical name, but not the new generation names. You can’t possibly call them Jett or Davis at that time. 3. Meaning of Name: You can google search names and their meanings. There are different websites that have taken it upon themselves to enlighten you about names. Explore them, and use them to your advantage. 4. Try to Avoid Long Names : Avoid the repetitive use of long names, they are drawbacks in the telling of any worthy story. As little as the use of name might seem, they are some of the things that propel the love your readers would have for stories. After an introduction of their names, shorten it and use it on Official purpose only. For example: Oritsematosan, Evbenosawenemwinghaye, Okudibilomalebiloku, Oluwaboriesumole etc What method is not stated here and has been useful in naming your characters. http://writertain.com/2017/09/12/element-for-picking-characters-perfect-name/ |
