Literature › Lesson On Emotions : Every Sunday by Divepen1(mod): 2:56pm On Aug 27, 2017
Emotions are the invisible parts of literature that have not fully being explained by many. A few websites have taken their time to discuss them and I’ll point us towards these websites next week before we even progress fully into our own discussion
Merriam-Webster Dictionary puts it as:
There are two classifications of emotion we would be focused on in our later days.

Primary emotions: there are at least 8 primary or basic emotions- fear, Interest, Joy, Anger, Fear, Anxiety, Surprise, and disgust.

The Complex emotions : this is also referred to as mixed emotions. Here, a person can be disappointed and sad at the same time. For example when a person loses a job interview, the character might be disappointed he wasn’t chosen but is excited because he would use that as an opportunity to visit the beach, he or she had always had the intention of visiting.
However, there are some basics emotions that are peculiar to Nigerians. These ones are those that have been observed in Nigerian setting and I’d be discussing them regularly. Every Sunday, we would play with the emotions of characters and put them to use here. But not to play to chances, while we have the aim of showing emotional usage in the Nigerian settings, we would ensure we focus on emotions of international bodies.

As we progress, I’ll move from one body parts to another while discussing the various type of emotions. These are essential in your regular usage of emotion in writing.

There are times you won’t ever need to describe the emotions of your characters, all you would need to discuss their actions and that would be understood by your readers. For example, squeezing invisible paper while staring into space conotes someone is deep in thoughts. There would be so many that would used encourage as you go by. Please either subscribe or visit www.writertain.com regularly.

OluwabuqqyYOLO:
Definitely, I go with No. 1. It is simply the best. I began here in 2013 when I knew nothing about writing but here I am now. You forgot to add the mentoring you get to receive from seasoned writers. The critics too. Then, there's the simple interface. Almost every GPRS-enabled phone can navigate it. You get to meet several people who care and with whom you can become buddies. All these make it the best. The only thing lacking then was the financial motivation. But, now, surely, a lot of money-making opportunities are springing for writers. It's a very welcome development and I hope for more of it.

I'll check out the others.
Do check the others especially Okadabooks.

At this point, I'm will like to say how sorry I am about the way the final result would run. I wish with all my heart that things didn't go this way with Piroux. I really hoped she would get the same chance as others. But I guess, fate can like to play ludo with us sometimes. Piroux, I was going through the list today and I saw that you and Gmike2rule fought your way from being stolen to winning this competition. I tried to talk to the judges but unfortunately, my phone battery is also low. Right now, I'm sending this from a Cafe. And that means I can't get to them without whatsapp. My hands are really tied here.

To other contestants, I'm so sorry. I thought the voting ends tomorrow. Results would be coming in soon.

m glad you replied, thanks. no matter the campaigning, skarlett will have more votes than missnande. she has so much influence here. see the amount of votes she has garnered just today. you people should review the criterion for winning the contest. skarlett has many friends here, she has a diary that is active, people are keenly following her diary. even people that did not read her stories would vote for her because of the camaraderie they have built with her over the years. seun, i opine that the judges should choose the winner.
Thanks for this. But the competition follows the voice format. There even if the 2nd runner up is the best, the winner is chosen by vote.

it will be sardonic, lugubrious and unfair if skarlett wins this contest. voting should not be the criterion to determine the winner. the judges should choose the winner. skarlett has so much influence here, she does not deserve to win. missnande owns this crown. just look at her submission, superb. divepen1, do something about this. seun, do something about this.#skarlettmustnotwin. #teammissnande.
This is very ridiculous. The essence of the competition is to know how to build audience and good content. The judges have done their best to scrutinize all contestants until the time to vote comes. They all got a hint of what to expect. Instead of trying to deface Skarlett, keep campaigning for Missnande.
