piroux:You must have shown your interest. |
ashewoboy:Abi.. Help us tell her.. |
Missnande:We are waiting ooo |
Missnande:Thanks . |
Debbietiyan:Lol.. I think you should .. But it's simple.. Team A create a beautiful couple and life Team B sends Armed Robbers their way and make them shoot the wife Team A finds loophole in Team B story and exploits it. The thief shot the wife on the patella but ran off because of Police siren. Thereby saving the wife and giving her a happy ending. Team B now have to find a loop hole to cause trouble. Probably, Team B tell us the woman's best friend loves the man from onset. So, she pretended to stay around to take of the wife, but was taking care of the husband on bed. The wife sees her. Each team must find a loop hole in the other team story to win. Team A creates an amicable situation that the readers see as a definite end Team B creates a bad situation that the readers see as a definite bad end. |
Okay… Over the past few weeks, we posted How to publish with Farafina book publishers, and we have begun to get a lot of questions from different people about what Fatarina really wants. Instead, many people have been desirous of sending them beautifully written articles, not fiction etc. That is why I think it is advisable we let you know what is needed before sending your work to them. Despite the fact, we posted how to send your work to them . There are some things some people are getting wrong. 1. Your synopsis : you must send them your synopsis. In our last post about how to send your work to Farafina, we gave a definition of what synopsis is. You should check it here. 2. Your excerpt : Don’t forget to put your excerpt. As we told you last week, your excerpt should be enough to make even Farafina book publishers never want to leave your book. Let it caress their desire and hook it till they cry for the rest of your book. In essence, send them the best parts of your story. 3. Don’t show off your awards : they know that you got Ph.D. in writing, that 200 schools want you to teach fiction. Rather, they don’t want to know. That means, your numerous awards would not help if you want to send them your work. Well, you might include that in your information. But don’t go about telling them how better you are than Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie or A. Igoni Barrett or Eghosa Imasuen. 4. Don’t Send Your First Draft : In essence, make sure you send edited works. Make sure the work you send to them is not the second either. Perfection would fetch you great money and make your story known. How do I know that? If Farafina accepts your story, you would be able to get your story to the end of the worlds. 5. Don’t send a link to your blog: Okay, that’s obnoxious… Erm which other vocabulary- Intolerable, amateurish. By all means, avoid sending them a link to your blog. The editors have tons of books piled up for them to pick from regularly, they wouldn’t want to see a link to a blog. Normally, they would trash the message. If you’ve ever done that or plan to, avoid it like a plague. 6. Wait for 8 weeks: don’t be in a hurry. Ensure you wait while the story had been sent. 7. Don’t send Poems or Non- Fiction: it’s a no-no for them. They don’t publish Poems or Non-Fictions. You can try their self-publishing company if you really need them to do that for you. Okay, talking too much can kill the book. Publishing with Farafina is like writing Post-Utme, don’t mess up. Next week, we would discuss how to publish with Cassava Republic. http://writertain.com/2017/09/12/%e2%80%8bwhat-farafina-really-wants/ |
Debbietiyan:It means the second team would keep creating seemingly unsolvable problems. The first team would always logically come out of the problem. |
If you're a writer and you're missing this. It is wrong. I saw first hand how someone received a great book review because of this context. |
Debbietiyan:Which part is confusing |
Chuknovski:PDF or hardcopy |
Kingrapha:Okay. Sorry I missed that... We are working on that. But most of the present writers are ladies or guys who read a lot of romance. |
Kingrapha:Sorry, is this in relations to the topic? |
Ytea:Indeed |
ProFuhrer:None... |
Creeza:That's something. I've tried correcting it. Try logging in. In case you are having trouble, change your password. |
ProFuhrer:Referee or CEO ? Are you opting for one? |
ProFuhrer:I've weighed it too and I've very sure Team A can make work harder for team B because Team A can always find a better way of ending a story that no one would question. But who knows. Let's wait for the main competition. |
airmirthd1:Awwawwnn.. Thanks, a lot.. |
airmirthd1:Indeed ooi.. |
uwammebi:Your name should be in the next one, just be ready to think out of the cage. |
Let's keep 'em coming. |
meneski:You're welcome, baba... |
OluwabuqqyYOLO:Welcome |
As we prepare for our collaborations in October, it is expedient that we know the plan. There are other threads for other competitions and collaborations for that month, some of which do not need Registration. The essence of the registration is to help prepare for the story. All you need to say is either I'm in, count me in.... Registration ends on 17th.. |
The aim of the writing collaboration is to try something new in the realm of writing. To us at Writertain, we see writing as fun and we feed on Creativity. This thread is the preparatory and registration thread.. Registration is FREE Prizes: For now, we are running on a need to be creative and to have fun. If you want to sponsor it, you can do so by contacting me at Akintayoakinjide0@gmail.com or Writertain@gmail.com Sponsoring You can sponsor in the following ways 1. Graphic Design 2. Telling others 3. Monetary Value 4. Encouraging the referees. Who We Need? 1. CEO(s): This is the person in charge of encouraging the writers. Simply that. Since this is the testing phase. We would restrict it to only Nairalanders. Anybody that registers as a Manager would be in charge of giving his club a name. They have the right to pick Coaches. 2. Coach: this is the person laden with the job of ensuring the team members are well tutored. Anybody can register as a coach. But the CEO has the right to choose whomever they feel is worthy of their team. They have the right to pick team members. Coaches would be picked before team members. 3. Team Members: only 4 members of the team can play at a time. That does not mean the team can only have four people. But for a starter, we are restricting the teams to 8 teams. So, all 8 teams must be filled before coaches can pick other people. This implies that until each team is full, no team can have more than 4 members. 4. Referees: these are the police of the event. They are to judge if the story meets the standard of the competition. For now, we need five referees. But the first person to register becomes the head referee. How The Game Would Be Played * It's simple. Every part written must be in 200 words. * The first team would create a serene environment for the protagonist. The second team's job is to always cause obstruction for the other team. * Each team has 25 minutes to submit their works, which means each team will drop 4 works. * Each team is to aim to end the story per time. * The referees are to check for compliance with rules. * A team's 25 minutes starts after the other team member has dropped their work. * The game stops at the end of 3 hours 20 minutes. How It Would Be Scored *Each team starts with 100 points * For meeting up with time, a team gets 5 marks. * For not meeting up with time, 4 marks would be removed. * a mark would be deducted for every spelling error. * 5 marks would be deducted for word count above 200 words. * 5 marks for every work that tried to conclude it( this is solely at the discretion of the referee. Note: In case there is confusion, the conclusion is at the discretion of the head referee. |
