profemebee: thanks for the response
80 days is the total days out of UK since i moved here
Glad to know that my 80days is still within the limit
I was just confused if i needed to wait till 28days from Sept 2025 or as long as i have 5years. i can just add a few months to it and apply
I'm thinking Jan 2025 for the application so that's some extra months into 5years.. will also get Life in the UK test done
I have some more questions:
1. Can i apply for ILR with the UK Naric certificates I used for the 2 previous spousal applications for this ILR?
English Language Proficiency Statement: The NARIC certificates confirmed the Level of English Language for my uni and master degrees is confirmed to meet requirements of CEFR Level C1.
Academic Qualification Level Statement: UK NARIC also evaluated my uni and master degrees.
Can i still use them and not need to write any B1 English proficiency exams?
NARIC will do, just as last time
2. Mortgage Statement: Exactly how and where do i get this from? Do i request from my mortgage provider 28days before online application or is this a statement that was given when I got a mortgage?
Usually the statement given at the start of your mortgage - Just to satisfy accommodation requirements.
3. Regarding FLR(M) and SET(M),
From page 1, it says SET - Settlement then (M) is a category of Settlement visa used by immediate relatives of a settled person in the UK.
It seems a lot of comments and experiences here were SET(M) but i'm on FLR(M) as my wife is British.
Should I be concerned that there are few FLR(M) comments here or it is almost the same?
I'm a bit confused
It is SET(M) https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/product/set-m
4. Is it true I have to include a letter from my employer(s) to confirm the days I was out of the UK during the 5years was during my annual leave period?
Your letter from employer is to verify you are employed i.e your contract details, your position, how long you've been with them and the verification of the 6 or 12 months payslips you are submitting.
I would advise you set up camp with this forum. Link below. Your questions will be better answered there. https://www.immigrationboards.com/viewforum.php?f=44&sid=bb375ada1c3ea976edc4b37ed2391afc

profemebee: the arrival to the UK isn't the issue... it is the first visa start date that's not clear because i have 2 different dates.. one being the date on 1st BRP and another date being the start date on the 1st visa letter i got while in Nigeria
I used the BRP date in my FLR M visa extension application but i feel like maybe i made a mistake using that
I highlighted the field i'm referring to in the screenshot attached which is the https://immigrationstory.uk/en-gb/tools/ilr-calculator..
The dates will differ for ILR qualification when i use either of the 2 dates
I just need to know which of the 2 dates to use in the highlighted field
I would think it's the first day on your 1st BRP. As mentioned earlier, I have never used this 3rd party ILR calculator - if I remember clearly, never been asked the highlighted question in both my applications. |
Travel / Re: ILR Application (SET M) by Divine88: 9:04am On Jun 12 |
profemebee: so this means whether i go with the date on my 1st BRP or the date on the visa letter in the ILR calculator doesn't really matter
It is the day i was physically in the uk that matters then..
I will input the BRP date (because this is the same date i used in my spousal visa FLR M extension application) when asked for and look at the results in the ILR calculator... thanks
I need to be consistent with the dates so i'm not putting different dates in the application from what i put earlier..
I'm asking because i need to know what date to put in the "When was the start date of your first relevant visa that goes toward the continuous period for this ILR application?" in the ILR calculator so it can determine what day i can apply from
I have never used the ILR calculator before. But I am sure the question on the ILR application is something like this - When did you arrive in the UK? |
Travel / Re: ILR Application (SET M) by Divine88: 5:08pm On Jun 11 |
profemebee: Hi, thanks for the response
tbh i don't really know when i'm going to apply.. i still have more questions to ask that will determine when i will apply.. .i haven't even done UK Life in the UK test
I just want to first know which of the dates to use as the "When was the start date of your first relevant visa that goes toward the continuous period for this ILR application?" in the calculation done in https://immigrationstory.uk/en-gb/tools/ilr-calculator
The start date i was permitted to enter the UK which was stated on the first visa letter which i got while in Nigeria during my first spousal visa application
OR
the date of issue on my first BRP which was 2 weeks before the start date i was permitted to enter the UK (this is what i used in my spousal visa FLR M extension application)
Also, i have been out of the UK for about 80days
you start counting towards your ILR the first day you entered into the country i.e the 1st time you were stamped at the border. If you've been out for about 80 days, just increase 2 weeks or so before you apply, as this would cover your 5 years |

If i were in your shoes, I would not use my car......... Your vehicle does not have instructor's pedal fitted........
That instructor's pedal, is your examiner's life insurance....... Without it, your examiner would feel exposed like a fish, out of its pond........ đ
The examiner would inspect your vehicle, and would fail it, for the slightest reason....... Just pay about ÂŁ100 and use an instructors vehicle.......... Not true tho. I think it's allowed to use your personal car for a test. Things changed due to covid backlog I think. As earlier posted, wifey passed her test using her own car. Even her instructor advice her to use her own car instead as she is drives it for her personal practice. She practiced with her car with me by her side. So she was very use to the car prior to the test. 2 Likes 1 Share |

I feel like she wants to rip me off. Please is this rate normal in London. Why don't you use your own car? My wife recently passed her test using her own car. All you need is to make sure you are on the car insurance, have L stickers (4), get some inner mirror and the tiny window mirrors to be sticked to side windows. You buy all these on Amazon. Wife only passed when she used her car for the test. She failed twice using her instructor's car. 9 Likes |

I am genuienly surprised at some of the comments about your issue. Please do not be deterred and follow it up. You have a very good case and moreover what you are asking for is just an acknowledgement of wrong from them. Maybe because I have undergone GDPR training that's why it's easy for me to see the wrong here. What really baffles me on here is that a lot of folks on this forum will go back and start digging your immigration history to know how long youâve been here or what stage of immigration applications you are currently at. Like someone said earlier, once you bring your wahala on here, you better be ready for anything! 3 Likes |

Bluetherapy: babajeje123 one advise I have for you is to pump the brakes a little bit.
Summary: try shelf all plans and focus on saving for PSW visa life. You will be very very frustrated if you don't put your house in order. If you wan catch rat, you go behave like rat. Divert the attention to what your immediate family needs (paying house rent, childchare) not what your external families need.
You're on student visa and I believe you should be focusing on saving for the after studies life. You probably have given her the wrong impression with the fact that you hustled the money and could fund bringing her down from Nigeria and also paying for quarantine hotel.
Try to put other plans on pause and map out how to solidify your stay here. You can start by letting her know that you have put aside the plans on bringing your mum. Then mention everything that needs to be done to solidify your stay in terms of IHS surcharge, PSW visa fees and the likes. Brainstorm together how to go about it in terms of savings because you need to pay those fees to stay back here.
Enlighten her about the finances that comes being an immigrant in the UK. Probably the reality would hit and change her perspective. You might not he able to achieve this if you don't pump the brakes on how much you disburse out (to other family members)except you had prior savings from Nigeria. Don't portray it to her like it's easy to make this ÂŁ. Encourage her to get a job probably the reality will dawn on her.
You're clearly working over the permitted limit and you should really be careful with that. Best advice as so far!! 3 Likes |

In another thread it was mentioned about how lots of hr in the UK are ignorant about immigration rules. If you have an application in you are still in status until your application has been decided. A couple of people between this post and yours have posted the link on how to check for status but these guys can be ignorant and still see the date on your current brp as the cut off date for you. All you can do is try to educate them about this but I don't think there is anything you can do if they remain adamant.
If you can afford it go the super priority route where you get your decision the next working day ÂŁ800 o think it costs or the priority route in 3 working days for ÂŁ300 if I am correct. Its also difficult getting something new with an expired brp
I got my current job while my application was still been processed. All the HR need was my application reference number. And when my new brp came, I just send a scan copy to them. |
