Politics › My Incarceration, Failed Presidential Bids Taught Me Lessons –buhari by divinehand2003(op): 9:02pm On Oct 07, 2016 |
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said his three-and-a-half-year incarceration, the nation’s civil war and his failed attempts to win presidential elections have taught him “important lessons about social justice.”
According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President spoke while receiving the Imam of the Mosque of the Holy Prophet in Medina, Sheikh Abdul-Muhsin Muhammad Al-Qassimi, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Buhari said his administration would continue to promote unity and peaceful co-existence of all Nigerians by ensuring fairness and social justice to all.
He said God had a purpose for bringing people from different ethnic backgrounds into one country, Nigeria.
“God knows best. A population of 180 million people comprising more than 300 ethnic groups, many of them with cultural ties stronger than religion, can only co-exist peacefully in an atmosphere of social justice,” he said.
The President urged Muslims and all other citizens to imbibe and practise social justice as a norm and prayed to Allah to guide his government in doing the same.
“I pray that God gives us the courage to be fair to people he put in our charge so that we can enjoy his mercy,” he said.
The President commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their efforts to create a better understanding and practice of Islam.
He welcomed the visit of the imam to Nigeria, noting that it would strengthen the bond between the two countries.
In his remarks, Al-Qassimi commended the peaceful co-existence of Nigerians of different faiths. He expressed satisfaction with the cordial relations between government and religious leaders and called for better teaching and practice of Islam devoid of extremism. http://punchng.com/incarceration-failed-presidential-bids-taught-lessons-buhari/

As far as I am concerned, there is no meaningful thing Oga Lai Muhammed had said. This is just said to fulfil all righteousness. Queue to buy fuel indeed.
When APC fulfils at least 5% of their promises made to Nigerians, then and only then shall I take them seriously. |

Onyiridike: Before now I've always blamed this on the economy. I thought many young men who are graduates are yet to secure a well-paying job and those who are into business are not doing well.
However, I know up to 4 men in my neighborhood who are between 34-38 years and are financially stable but they are yet to marry.
According to them, getting a marriageable young lady in Nigeria is more difficult than getting a federal government job.
In my church, I have witnessed ONLY 2 weddings in 3 years and there are a lot of financially stable young men in their 30's.
What is wrong with our young men?
How come they can date our girls, sleep with them and cannot marry them?
I think our girls should stop sleeping with men who are not their legally married husband. You have given them everything. Why would they want to marry again. You sleep with them, cook for them, wash their clothes, tidy their house and you are not married to them. It does not make sense to me. They babes get their needs met in return. Besides, the culture of marriage is gradually taking a downward slide nowadays especially amongst the whites. Marriage is no longer valued in the western world and this is creeping into Africa. Numerous celebrities here in Nigeria have so many baby mamas and it seems it is what is trending at the moment. |

Any attempt, or group of conspiracies that will construed the slightest idea of getting a new constitution through a SOVEREIGN NATIONAL CONFERENCE must be killed on arrival by our corruption laden NASS. These looters don't want the progress of this country. Of course, the present state of this alien , archaic and undemocratic 1999 constitution open great doors for robbing the Nigerian nation blind.
But let's warn them very clearly that the masses own this country and it is what we want that must come to pass. NASS members, be warned. THE COUNTRY DOES NOT BELONG TO A MICROSCOPIC FEW.

In a country where sane humans live with a responsible government, neither the tenant nor Landlord has anything to do with the provision of these social amenities. It's wholly the duty of the government.
However, in a country like ours where the demons of mediocrity and corruption holds sway in the corridors of power, the person who is worse affected by lack of these amenities has to contribute to the cost which can be either the tenant in most cases or the landlord if he also resides there, or both depending on what obtains.
