Nairaland GeneralFRSC Clears Air On Driving Licence Delay - Punch Newspapers by divinehand2003(op): 6:02pm On Sep 26, 2017
The Federal Road Safety Corps has cleared the air on several complaints about the delay in the issuance of driving licence.

It said its attention has been drawn to complaints from applicants whose details had been captured in its database and issued temporary licences but were yet to receive their permanent driving licences.

The Corps Public Education Officer, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, said after investigation it was discovered that most of the licences had been dispatched from the print farm and ready for collection at centres of actual capture.

“While some do not actually check, some are told at the points that they are not ready and therefore resign to fate,” he added.

Kazeem advised that any applicant facing similar challenges should text his/her licence number to 08150654567 and 08058298826 to ascertain the status of the driver’s licence or at most, call the numbers.

He said the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, further assures the motoring public of the Corps’ commitment to continually meet the demands of the applicants despite the fact that it is not the duty of the FRSC to distribute such licences.

PoliticsBREAKING] Saraki Reshuffles Senate Committees’ Chairmen by divinehand2003(op): 5:47pm On Sep 26, 2017
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday announced a reshuffling of the chairmanship of Senate committees.

The Senate Committee on Trade and Investments now has Senator Sabo Mohammed as the Chairman, while Senator Andy Uba (Anambra-South), who was Chairman of Committee on Public Accounts, was redeployed to Committee on Interior.

Senator Matthew Urhoghide (Edo-South) was moved from Committee on Culture and Tourism to Committee on Public Accounts, while Senator Fatimah Raji-Rasaki (Ekiti-Central), who was Chairman of Committee on Trade and Investments, is now Chairman of Culture and Tourism.

Committee on Local Content now has Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Lagos-West) as Chairman, while Senator Stella Oduah is now Chairman of Committee Cooperation and Integration.

Senator Mustapha Bukar was appointed Chairman of Committee on Capital Market.

Also, vice chairmen of committees were also affected in the reshuffle. Committee on Trade and Investments now has Senator Mohammed Sani Mustapha as Vice Chiarman, while Senator Ademola Adeleke succeeded Adeola as Vice Chairman of Committee on Communications.

The Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, was named Vice Chairman of Committee on Local Content.

Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters now has Senator Babajide Omoworare as Vice Chairman.

The PUNCH had exclusively reported in May 2017 that the Peoples Democratic Party caucus was aggrieved with the retention of Uba in the Committee on Public Accounts since his defection from the opposition PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress on February 21, 2017.

The committee, which exists in the Senate and House of Representatives, is the only committee in the National Assembly recognised by the Constitution and is traditionally headed by a member of the opposition.

The duties of the committee include monitoring transparency and accountability in the management and expenditure of public funds by ministries, department and agencies.

PoliticsHow did you spend the N75b I left behind for your government? Obi asks Obiano by divinehand2003(op):
- Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra state, is accusing his successor, Willie Obiano, of squandering the N95 billion left in the treasury within four year

- Obi denies demanding for N7 billion from Obiano's government and gives details of what his government left for Obiano

- The former governor warns Anambra people not to give Obiano a second chance

Former Governor Peter Obi has called out his successor, Chief Willie Obiano, just weeks to the November 2017 governorship election in Anambra state.

Obi asked Obiano to tell the people of the state what happened to the N75 billion he left behind for the governor four years ago.

The former governor raised the allegation in reaction to Obiano’s claim that he demanded for N7 billion from his government.

Speaking through his special adviser, Valentine Obienyem, in a statement, Obi said he was surprised that Obiano was campaigning with an allegation that he demanded for money from him instead of telling Anambra people what happened to the N75 billion he met in the state’s treasury.

“Now that he has accepted that he did not give the N7 billion to anybody, that he should go ahead and tell Anambra people what he used their money to do, bearing in mind that major projects in the state such as roads, Awka and Nnewi malls as well as Onitsha and Agulu Hotels, among others remain abandoned.

“We know the governor has many questions to answer and cannot run away from them through blackmail.

“For instance, on the issue of the N75 billion Obi left for him, he tried to deny it by saying he met ‘near cash’, we went on and published the banks and account numbers where the money were and the bank certified statement of accounts, but they tactically kept quiet.

”To refresh our minds, Obi left N2,139,951,400 billion in First Bank (Acc no. 2018779464) for Oko erosion; N4,909,576,925.98 billion in Sure-P Diamond account (0026290200); 1,782,568,032 billion in UBEC 1 Diamond account(0023484282); N2,101,864,766 billion UBEC 2 Diamond Account (0031151473); over N4 billion in many MDG accounts one of which was the N3,048,355,196 billion in Fidelity Bank (5030047097); over 35 billion Naira cash (set aside funds added) in all the banks,” Vanguard reported the statement as saying.

The report added that Obi said he also left $156 million - Fidelity Bank ($56 million); Diamond Bank ($50 million); and Access Bank ($50 million).

“If left as Anambra’s Future Growth Funds as conceived by Obi, the money with interest and accruals would have been about N200 billion, but Gov. Obiano has sold all of them. In fact, it was one of the disagreements about the sale that led Mr Oseloka Obaze to resign. Obiano should be busy telling us the status of these moneys rather than his current blackmail.

“Now is also the time for Obiano to justify before Anambra people why he takes N1.2 billion as security votes, which is biggest in Nigeria relative to income,” the statement said adding that it was curious that in his first six months in office, Obiano vired all the money in the MDG account, with which schools and hospitals get monetary and development support to his security vote.

Obi accused Obiano of lying to the people of the state especially with the phantom $5 million ugu export as example.

“As a seasonal vegetable, at least ugu would be exported once every year, but now, going to two years, we do not hear about it again. He recently told us that Anambra got the order to export 10 million tubers of yam, maybe he did not even realize that over 80 prcent of yam consumed in Anambra state come from Benue and Taraba states.

“He also said that Anambra is now producing over 200 metric tons of rice, when even Stines company source rice from Ebonyi state.”

Obi said there are a lot of reasons why Obiano should not be allowed to govern the state a second time.

According to the statement, some of these reasons include the signing of over 100 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) that are not functional, the claim that Obiano attracted $7.5 billion investment to Anambra state and the concentration of 90 percent of his few development projects in his town.

Obi said instead of the governor to develop Awka, the capital of the state, he only built three falling and cracking flyovers and evacuated 50 percent of the power meant for the capital to his Aguleri town which now enjoys 24 hours power supply.

He also allegedly relocated the on-going stadium project in Awka to his Aguleri town.

Governor Obiano was yet to react to the fresh allegations at the time of this report.

NAIJ.com earlier reported how the former governor said Willie Obiano, had under performed.

Obi said his successor has nothing to show for his four years in office.

He also said that Obiano does not deserve to be given a second chance as Anambra state governor.
