You don't understand what taxation means. If after paying taxes, you still have to take care of the amenities that govt is supposed to provide for , then folks should not be taxed. Govt is a social contract and the political class is reneging on that contract and you are asking the other party (weakest bargainer) to fulfill its obligation?. There is no govt in the lives of these traders. They built their shops, pay rents, paid custom and vat duties, provided security, provided electricity, paid for clean and trash pick up etc and the govt is asking for taxes. FOR WHAT services? Would Fashola go against Dangote or Shell if they owe Lagos govt?
lagos state that goes against federal govt, what is shell and dangote??abeg find something say.Everybody should pay thier taxes,u can see the improvments already n its not fiar on many coz they are paying then some computer village n alaba boys are not paying.its even easier self coz they are all in one geographical location so they can easily be aprehended grin

Kobojunkie:
Did you bother asking the kid why he was not in school at that time? Or is it that you just want your conscience spared of having to see such a kid during the hours between 8pm and 2 pm each work day?

Let me re-iterate, a ban is good but there are things that should come before a ban, to better help people adjust to changes. An example for those who are too fixated on how good this man is to them to see things objectively, the ban on generators that was proposed earlier this year. How is that ban working out so far?
kobo,u seem not to understand this rule is goin to start a chain reaction, and it will be a reaction that will build lagos state eventually.now u see, some of these children ur seeing are not going to school because thier parents (who are chilling under one shade)are sending them to hawk goods.some of them are attending free schools but their parents look at it as, shey na dat one go bring moni ni?,now,if that is stoped for more the 9hrs in a day,u will see that in the morning u will see older people n parents who sent thier kids out hawking those goods themselves to keep up.now the child eventually would go to school learn one or two things(education is the backbone of any economy) n come home n work as the case maybe, but at least he/she would have education, now 3-5 yrs later that child would have ssce or something,he will have an alternative in life n not continious hawking 4ever,now if he stays a hawker without an education of some sort what do u think this child would tell his own child?of course na to hawk, coz he hasnt seen another side of life, thatz what is causing problems, people dont want to try,its passing form generation to generation.now in the earlier period, some kids would go to school, some wouldnt n them n thier parents would pack n leave lag or find another means of getting through, some would scream out that there aint schools for thier kids n then the govt would be forced to build more schools for these kids.it happens, take alook at tanker drivers that park on the road n cause problems for u n i,they actually gave them a large land for them to move to but nah huh they wouldnt, they like what they are doing!!you claim ur in yankee abi?do people just park on the road for no reason?do u think the schools in yankee are enuff for the every child that wants to go to school?bear in mind in yankee the budget compared to lagos state.well, its all a matter of time but things wouldnt be any diffrent if the change dosnt start now.this rule would affect the kids positivly and bring out those parents that cant control thier dicks to hawk.I SUPPORT THIS MOVE TO THE MAX

shebi una want make naija be like yankee,so,whatz all the yapping about??how many developed(even developing) countries have somewhere that generates that sort of income computer village generates with out paying thier tax??abeg, people should stick with whats right.this computer village that ur all talking about should have been closed down a long time ago, actually it shouldnt have existed at all in that location sef,in the lagos plan, that location it is in is residencial n not business landmark,so 4 them even holding them 4 tax only is fair enuff.in developed countries, please what happens when u evade Tax??or do u think those computer vill pple dont know that?na big lie, they do,dey only turn deaf ears towards it coz they feel the state is lawless so what thafuck when they come we will give then egunje but im happy that this govt means business, therez a diffrence in this govt n tinubus govt.PAY UR TAX!!PAY UR TAX!!these pple are the same pple that run thier mouths when the basic ammenities are not given to them but is it fair that the govt would use other pples tax money to feed pple making hell of cheese in computer Vill??nah, i dont think so!! angry

they say in the land of the blind;the one eyed man is king.yes we have had such a long period of bad rule that i fear we don't even know wot governance is. funny i also believe that fashola is a bit different butt who wont be? when ur party is not in national view.that said, can u remember a couple of months ago when thisday ran an expose n funds disbursement in lagos?it was alleged that the monies were outrageous n they couldnt be traced because of the secret posture of d lagos state govt n its ministries. also where is the findings of the 'murder' of innocent nigerians in ejigbo area by chaugory brothers'. the coy ran heavy equipments over a NNPC pipe n led to an inferno that claimed amongst its victims, nursery and pri school pupil n wot happened to them? that was the question thisday raised n how were they answered? they govt didnt respond even when the coy was traced to tinubu but began harassing thisday about their tax, revoked its land license and 'childishly'' returned the plaque given the previous year as the 'best' governor, vowing never to grant them interviews!!!!! hello, democrat indeed. i don't want to waste my energy on what we know,we as the future of nigeria must become political active and stop all these hypocrisy

Well, please let people have their say. We can not all see FASHOLA through the same rose coloured goggles as you do. For one, I don't believe in praising any person I do not know personally cause I do not know what is done in secret. I think those who doubt his ability have about 49 years worth of history and reason to. It is up to Fashola himself to convince them and that entails his actually keeping his word. I am sure you know that not everyone is gullible enough to take him at his word? My people say Action Speaks louder than words. I happen to be one of those who subscribes to that idea, and I will not trust in what I do not see when it comes to man.

@kobojunkie, honestly u bore me.'u dont believe in praising any person you dont know personally', think of that statement well!!i do know one thing,'u believe in condeming people u dont know pesonally', the worst part about u n ur blind arguments aimed at seeking attention which ur sorrily getting is that u so not living or feeling the pain the people here were feeling and what has changed and what hasnt,u just run your mouth, period.yes action speaks louder than words,if the gov'nor of Lag used sirens then u would have made a point there but ur off point,u seem not to realise that in naija we are gradually getting to a point where the ordinary man has his/her right enforced, years back would anybody dare come out n say stuff bout a naval man the way we are talking about?nah, alot of people would have had thier heads off,if not in puublic,it would be in private.the govnor of lagos state is the best of the bunch period,if u know him or not we dont really care, how would u ever know him when ur way off, dont worry ehhhh we will package him in a container so u can groom him n ul get to know him well 'NURSING MOTHER' angry

hey,how far??ive also been looking 4 u,where have u been?u alwayz run away n plant ur ways with a siren on people that have been blinded with opression(like urself).so,how have u been??u no really u just have to stop posting on nairaland, coz i feel so bad 4 u n ur weak points?u dont know lagos n definatly dont know the governor or his efforts to ensure stability in the state through law or otherwise.trust me if he sayz something,BLAM, he pushes for it well.this is the same man that said people shouldnt use one way n he caught a military man using it n came out of the car n turned him back,a man that has come out of his car numerous times to control traffic,a man that made oshodi sane,u really dont know this man o!!another point is that u should not blame everything on him coz the federal arm has its roll to play,if the police which is federal(PDP) decide not to do nothing to the big culprits then he will not be able to roll on them so they have to walk hand in hand, look at it,the assult on the girl isnt a state matter only its a federal matter but what has the president done about it?its a big disgrace to naija as a whole,it on the net n what has the federal arm done??nada!!aim at them n not the lag state govnor, remember, he dosnt even use sirens in his own state sef where the traffic hits the hardest!!eko oni ba je

mehn, Go 4 a brand new if uv really got the money. As for a toyota camry 03 vs optra, they are in diffrent categories. but if ur saying a brand new vs tokunbo ,u really have to do your homework well coz its not all toyotacars that were able to meet the hype they were about, you know that in nigeria because of the availability of parts the sales of some cars tend to tilt towards the parts.take 4 instance, there was a time when it was peugot cars,it was a crime not to have 1,there was a time it was V-boot e-200,220,300, remember them, even 190e(which is one of mercs worst car) but over time things have changed, some of this cars were sucess because if they break down we can fix it but does that really transends to it being the best cars?well it could be as of then but as of now when parts are available for almost any car,i think ur options cant fail u. sorry to disapoint tokunbor users but new cars are offering better packages now as it is, check hyundai out, thers no way on earth u can compare a 2008 sonata to a tokunbo 2002 camry, no way.check the specs out n ul c its not possible.

@Rhino, problem here is you rattled the delusions he has of his HERO in this case. From his attitude, you can get that he is one of the many who demand you not speak “AGAINST” the will of his hero. In this case, it will never sit well with him that there are people here who are willing to debate his HERO and so they ought to be condemned and punished for such atrocities. The rule for majority of these minds is that you never question the will of their master and you never suggest better for their masters as their master has ultimate say in all cases, no matter how stupid. ROFLMAO!!!

I tell you, these Nigerians and their need for HERO WORSHIP, no matter how stupid, is what is killing that country. Usually, if you ignore them, they will realize they have nothing useful to offer and then move on. Sometimes, they rest of the gang shows up and goes on and on for another two pages before they catch on. ROFLMAO!!!

I can see that you are still missing the point, or should i say that you are just being dillussioned.
Firstly, tell me what Fashola has got to offer, now, don't get me wrong, no one is telling the govt there to give them money, but are they really ready for a change, a govt that wants a change and truely wants the proffessionals out of nigeria to come back will have an open dooor policy, just in case u don't get it, an open door policy means, people that has something to offer would get the chance to meet with those who can help him to make such changes, tell me how u expect someone to bribe his way to meet with the power brokers in nigreia all because they want to help to build the nations, don't get me wrong, for security sake, i do know that not every tom, privates and harriet cld walk into the governor's office, but what plan do they have in place that even an ordinaty e-mail being sent will get to the governor without some red head secetary to the governor redirecting such mail into the "deleted messages"?
No one is happy with how Nigeria is, and no matter how long we are out of nigeria for, we will forever be a Nigerian and would like to look back and see a great nation that we ought all to have, I as a person is willing and ready to go through what it takes, but when ur voice can't and wont be heard all because you last name is not abiola and yar'adua and yet u have to go through all the pain that is out there, please, tell me if that is not double jeopardy.

this topic is disturbing, who came up with the nominees??itz pretty obvious u havnt been following the thread.i've read all these peoples veiws on political matters from subject to subject and it tickles me everytime i have to reveiw thier losses.i can authoritativly say these guys are sore loosers and really can go head to head against some other Nairalanders, one of the loudest of the lot is google nigeria1 that keeps running to ask dot com for answers and fool people like u!!!maaaaaan even with the backing of yahoo he still gets his facts twisted.please next time u want to start this kind of argument dont follow suit n type in these little children in yahoo search engine coz it recognises them,do more of street work(those that are in the struggle) angry
PoliticsRe: 'Return Home', Fashola Charges Nigerians In Diaspora by dlox01(m): 9:42am On Aug 29, 2008
i really dont know y a whole lot of u are very primitive in ur way at looking at that plea he made, especially those that stay out side this country.i recall someone saying on the thread dat he should give u security and protect properties n shit so then u guys can come back, i think u should read his plea again,he said he wants professionalz to come and help build the country not come help chop the country.there are professionalz in virtually every field u mongels are complaining about, he wants these people to come help those over there cross the hurdle,is it that hard to understand??look at the mongrel dat barked about security,r there no naija professionals in the security field abroad??of course they are, in fact many of them dat pull big boys here are actually gate men there but loads dont want to ignite anyting into this end, thier own is to save small dollars n show them selves over here.but realisticly,if these people could sit and say meeeen this is the way its done over there, lets do it this way n dat, like in new york n other places and they do it here then things would change but nah, they will continue to post shit on this thread and slave away over there.my own be say one day be one day what u leave in the system be waht u go get when u come back.
i dont mean to sound aggresive but i like pple that have taken it upon themselves to face challenges not run away, if iwan dey post against, its very very simple, the 1st step is to get a visa like nigeria1 n run my mouth over what isnt mine.i beg make una find something do jo!!!!

bodsibobo:
@wilywily

you heard, and then you come onto a public forum to present like it's fact, shows your level of intelligence, aren't you just a plain "yorubahater'?
i second dat statement, the child (wilywily) is a retarded Willie grin
Mamajama:
if anyone is to be praise for arresting Bode Gorge it should be Ribadu.

the investigation commence under his administration, he just wasn't left to finish he job.

Waziri is getting all the credit now, but any smart individual will know detailed investigation takes time and can not be completed in a month with the complexity that we have in Nigeria

True
TPS360:
Good move by the EFCC, still waiting on the day Babaginda will be arrested by the EFCC,
maaaan that ur wait go long no b small o grin
grand jedi:
THE ARREST : The right step in the right direction.

PROBABILITY OF JUSTICE/RECOVERY OF FUNDS: Slim. However, we have to start somewhere. But one is hoping we don't stay @ this level of "arrest and eventual release without justice" for too long.

POSSIBILITY OF ARRESTING "AREMU" et al : Between 0% and 1%. . .more towards the former than the latter And not in the present presidency.( IBB is still alive and well, SHONEKAN is still "chairmanning" boards, the ABACHA family still has some of the loot, ABDULSALAMI is still untouched).
well said tongue

dudu-bobo:
If the man don chop money like goat, make them put am for kirikiri biko
maaan no b dis admin dat 1 go happen, they will tell him to refund money 'worst comes 2 worst' nothing will happen angry
Eziachi:
It's funny people that knew Monday Osumbor and Lawrence Anini (the famous robbers) said the same about them that they are nice people but it didn't stop them taking innocent lives, robbing people of the living. Who care what Bode Goerge is up to in his private moment, what we care about is what he is up to with our collective wealth.
please dont pay nigeria1 any mind, he is insane,he has brought mindless arguments to this thread again.Mr Bode george(yep,'Mr',coz calling him cheif is bringing honour to a common thief in agbada), so, mr George had better get his old behind behind bars.As 4 nigeria 1,i know alot of clowns that crack jokes and still kill but bode george is the oldest of the lot, ehmmm well not really, there'z an untouchable one somewhere @ otta sha!!!!!

Sincerely,I don't want to say anything again on Fashola until next month when I arrive Europe on an academic break. You would be pleasantly surprised to learn about the sponsor and what I went through to get the sponsorship.I am being sponsored by a humble man who believes so much in turning around lives through education. The same man some of you are castigating. Some months back,he said Without education there wont be skills.without skills, there wont be jobs.without jobs, there wont be income.without income, there wont be poverty eradication.More gists on this would come in the newspapers and this thread.
awwww that's very nice.i like people like u jare.when u enter jand, send me TM LEWIN shirts o,i'll call u n give u ma shrirt size (just kiddin).use ur money wisely n come back n give ur people jobs, someone has givin u this opportunity,it would only be fair 4 u 2 open the doors for others.I would really love to hear about your experience sha,@ least i can guarantee u wont be like some men that used church funds 2 escape n they arnt even giving back to the church sef.Sorry TOX are u a guy or a babe sefhuhjust curious, not trying 2 hurt ur ego but i tthink uz a babe, am i righthuh grin

i really enjoy the veiws im getting in this thread, some make sense n some dont!!itz really a big shame still that those that scream no development and claim they have the capacity to do better are not in this country but elsewhere living on odd jobs n are no better that the agberos we are trying to brush up here although they have saved us the trouble of brushes by brushing themselves up, but an agbero is always an agbero even in agbada or burberry's or millitary uniform.Anyways, ive learnt alot from those with positive veiws and through thier words i sence hope,i sence belonging and drive that together things would work out eventually.Dr kitaun, webdezz, tox, just to mention a few have been able to pull logical arguments and defend it to the fullest.we should all hook up someday! cool
am not gonna say much about kobo,nigeria1 and some others who lack depth in thier points but i will tell you all to help out in the little way you can because theres a role you guys can play in making lag a better and more comfortable place for every1.have a lovely day y'all
