Why do you guys always like building castle in the air?

That road will be abandoned, its just for the purpose of looting by Tinubu
CommonSense1967:
The positive impact of the Lagos Calabar coastal road on the Nigerian economy will be huge and generational.
I have tried to explain to some why this is a brainer but they seem bent on looking at it from a political and sentimental perspective.
Even if Obi was President and he proposed this road, I would have supported it with everything I have.

Nigeria has a long coastline and most are not been used to their full potential. Imagine how many beaches will open up from Lagos to Calabar, imagine world-class hotels, imagine the potential for resorts in many areas.

Look at it from the potential benefits instead of the potential delays and costs.

Projects of this magnitude will experience delays, cost overruns, and many other problems. But we must still start it and plan for potential hiccups as we go along. No matter how ell you plan there will be issues but that is not enough reason to back away form it.
TravelRe: New Coastal Scenic Highway In China's Hainan Usher In Diverse Tourism Experience by DMerciful(m):
Thats China, they always build...not like this one that there is no intention or resources to build or complete it. Its just an avenue for looting, no wonder its not following due process

The burgeoning tourism industry has also motivated local people who used to work as migrant workers in more developed cities to return to their hometowns.

Even in Asaba, we celebrate Igbo day. Ikwerres are Igbos unless they do a referendum to show the majority do not wanna be identified as Igbos.

They may choose to be identified with whatever they like but they're igbos nonetheless. Its like Egyptians saying they're not Africans.

The whole world cannot agree that 2+2=5, you cannot agree for a truth to change.

You're wasting your time Op on a useless venture
Image123:
Gbajue: Thirty of the Many Lies Told By Peter Obi

Part 1 (The lies are so much one post could not take them).

One: That he brought an Amazon expert to testify at the PEPC. The person he brought is Mpeh Clarita Ogar, a failed Labour Party candidate for Yala/Ogoga Federal Constituency, in Cross River State, who admitted in court (and on video) that I "Am here as an expert witness, I am not here on the mandate of Amazon."

Two: That Nigeria should be ashamed since Tanzania has achieved full power sufficiency and had to shut her dams over excess power. Actually, Tanzania shut its dams after the ongoing Cyclone Hidaya hit the country and is currently facing nationwide power blackouts.

Three: I won the #NigerianElections2023. The truth is that Peter Obi predictably came third, an election that the United States has now officially, through their State Department, admitted reflected the will of the Nigerian people, and in so doing, they corroborated International Observers.

Four: I took Anambra from Number 27 to Number 1 in WAEC. Actually, WAEC does not grade by state, and the so-called Number One improvement was as a result of 486 WAEC/NECO/JAMB exam 'Miracle Centres', which made Anambra the exam malpractice capital of the world, and almost got the state delisted, until the Obiano government closed them down under pressure from WAEC two months after taking over from Obi.

Five: I reduced poverty in Anambra. The truth is that, as averted by the current Governor of Anambra, Professor Charles Soludo, poverty in Anambra more than doubled under Peter Obi, from 20% in 2004 to 68% in 2010, representing a 238% increase.

Six: I love Muslims. Actually, Peter Obi plotted a "religious war" (his exact words) against the Muslim Ummah in a leaked audio by Peoples Gazette. He vowed to sue Peoples Gazette. However, more than a year later, he has not sued. Moreover, when asked directly by Charles Aniagolu on Arise TV if that was him on the tape, Peter Obi refused to answer, though the question was repeated thrice.

Seven: I studied marketing at Harvard. Peter Obi did not study at Harvard. He went for a short course that usually takes two weeks at Harvard. To claim that he "studied at Harvard" based on that is deceptive, misleading and manipulative. Obi only has a first degree, a Second Class Lower in Philosophy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Of all the Presidential candidates during the #NigerianElections2023, Peter was the least educationally competent.

Eight: If I am in government, I will reject foreign aid. However, during his eight-year tenure as Governor of Ananbra, Peter Obi applied for and received foreign aid from multiple nations, including the Uk and U.S.

Nine: Peter Obi lied that Tinubu paid for 1411 people to go for #COP28 with government money. Only 422 of the delegates of Nigeria were publicly funded. And not all of those publicly funded were financed by the Presidency.

Ten: Peter Obi criticised the National Assembly for buying 400 SUVs and said he would have used such monies better. Actually, it turned out that Peter Obi had purchased 400 SUVs for Anambra Igwes when he was Governor.

Eleven: The timing of Lagos demolitions is wrong (Yet Peter Obi personally led a demolition team to demolish illegal structures as Anambra Governor). Additionally, he said NOTHING when Governor Soludo demolished Anambra simultaneously as Lagos.

Twelve: He claimed his budgets as Governor weren't wasteful, but he budgeted more for his office than for health in Anambra.

Thirteen: On November 22, 2023, Peter Obi lied that he accompanied the President of America on a trip. Official records on the White House website indicate otherwise.

PoliticsRe: Why Do Nigerians Look Up To Mr. President And Forget About Their Governors? by DMerciful(m): 3:39pm On May 06, 2024
APC started it with GEJ. Since then it has stuck
bliss750:
"I believe that in Nigeria's current structure, we should focus on questioning our governors about the reasons for underdevelopment rather than solely concentrating on Mr. President. When viewed from a different perspective, it becomes evident that some governors are making progress and working more effectively than others. Despite receiving federal government funds and allocations, certain states remain challenging areas."

It's essential to consider the roles and responsibilities of both federal and state governments in addressing development issues. Engaging with local leaders can lead to more effective solutions and progress. 😊
PoliticsRe: We Aren’t Igbo, Rivers Ikwerre People Reply Ohanaeze by DMerciful(m): 3:37pm On May 06, 2024
I knew a Yoruba man will like be the Op and not someone from Ikwerre
Paraman:
An Ikwerre socio-cultural group, the Iwhnurohna Progressive Organisation has faulted claims by the Ohaneze Ndigbo and its President, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, that Ikwerre is part of Igbo.

The IPO said it was careless and insensitive for Iwuanyanwu to be associated with such a claim that the Ikwerre people in Rivers State were Igbo, describing it as false and unfounded.

The IPO President, Dr Okachikwu Dibia, stated this at a news briefing in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital on Friday.

Recall that the President General of the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Iwuanyanwu, at a media briefing in Port Harcourt a fortnight ago, said the Ikwerre people were Igbo, saying the position of the Ikwerre nation that they were not Igbo, was a lie.

Iwuanyanwu said, “One major factor to know the ethnicity of a people is language. Everybody identified to be Igbo and called Igbo, they spoke Igbo. They could have had some little differences, but it doesn’t stop the truth.

“For example, the word first son, in Owerri and Umuahia, we call it “Okpara”, in Onitsha it’s called “Okpala”, and in Ikwerre it is called “Epara”.

“It’s not me or my parents who say that Ikwerre are Igbo. For the Ikwerre people to say that they are not Igbo, it is not correct because their language shows that they are Igbo.

“For example, they answer ‘Amadi, Amaechi, Onyesoh or Nyesom’, these are pure Igbo names with definite meanings. Some of them here in Ikwerre say they are from Benin; there is nothing wrong with it.

“Someone can say I was originally an Igbo man, but now I have made up my mind to change to Benin. It’s normal and will be accepted. But for somebody to come and tell a blatant lie that an Ikwerre person is not an Igbo person, it can’t be possible, and it can’t be defended in any modern society, because your culture, habit and name; everything is Igbo,”

While noting that he was raised in Rivers State, Iwuanyanwu, said, “In those days, we didn’t have such controversies whether Ikwerre was Igbo or not. The truth remains that Ikwerre is Igbo.”

He therefore urged the Ikwerre people in Rivers State to participate in the programmes and activities of the organisation (Ohaneze Ndigbo) so as to maximise the impact and serve the purpose for its establishment.

But Dibia said features of appearance or similarities in language should not be used to determine where a person comes from, saying the Ikwerre people will no longer tolerated such ‘hate-claim’.

He stated, “To us at IPO, Ikwerre is Igbo means that all the ancestral communities in Ikwerre originated from Igbo. This is not true and can never be true, hence our reply to him (Iwuanyanwu) and indeed Ohaneze.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ikwerre people are a distinct ethnic nation recognised in Nigeria and the United Nations. Ikwerre language is one of the recognised languages in Nigeria and the United Nations.

“Whoever is in doubt can contact the appropriate government authorities in Nigeria and the UN. While Ikwerre is our political name, Iwhnurohna is our native name, and both refer to the same people: Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality.

“We live and own the Emohua, Ikwerre, Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt City (in alphabetical order) local government areas in Rivers State, Niger Delta, South-South geo-political region of Nigeria”.

Citing the works of some renowned scholars like Prof. Otonti Nduka, Dibia used thematic headings of appearances, innate qualities and history to explain that the Ikwerre remained distinct from the Igbo despite similarities in their language.

He said: “Consequently, IPO’s reply to Iwuanyanwu is that language, name, dances, songs, dressing cannot be and should not be used as determinants of who Ikwerre is. IPO wishes to reply to Iwuanyanwu that who a man truly is, is more about his core innate character and behaviour than the physicals he sees.”

How will he complete it? With which money? Is it a coastal road or coastal road plus rail?

What about train stations? You think 45trillion would be enough to build coastal roal plus rail system? You know you can't just build road and put rail system later.

Nigeria does not have 50trillion even in 20yrs time for one road.

Even without the rail, the coastal road initial cost on paper is 15 trillion. When execution starts, it will be about 25 trillion which is effectively Nigeria's annual budget. And no appropriation for this road

We told you about Buhari, you did not listen.

We're now telling you about Tinubu, you're not listening.

That road will not go beyond Ogun!. You were told the Calabar end will start July, lets wait and see. July is not far
SoNature:
Before Peter Obi ever criticised that road, I did first. My argument was that those trillions of naira (they said the FG will pay 50% of 15 trillion which is about 7.5 trillion) should be invested in agriculture and power. Prices of foodstuff are becoming alarming and a country of 200 million people doesn't distribute up to 5000 megawatts of power; almost the whole economy runs on generators.

However, APC members and their foot soldiers are now deploying tribal politics to the whole argument that this road isn't a priority. So, I want to appeal to my Igbo brothers to halt all arguments concerning this road because they are now inciting the South South people against us.

This is the only thing APC knows how to do best - divide and rule. It has worked so well in Lagos guber elections and they have brought it to national politics. Unfortunately, they keep taking Nigeria backwards because facts and figures don't lie.
PropertiesRe: The Flood That Led To The Demolition In Mende by DMerciful(m): 2:43pm On May 06, 2024
Lagos is almost entering the Atlantic Ocean geographically so there'll always be flood occasionally. Don't use this normal flooding consistent with coastal areas as excuse for demolitions.

Even if you demolition 100% of houses in Lagos, there'll still be occasional flooding. Coastal cities like Venice, Sicily gets flooded constantly. Countries like the Netherlands and Italy gets flooded.

We know the game plan but our electoral choices remains our electoral choices and will always be based on equity and justice!
