English as a language is not entirely from Britain. There has been additions from other languages over time. Balcony is an Indian word, chimpazee is African etc Reflect7: Is ENGLISH Our Permanent National Language?
I ask because... we are AFRICANS.
We are not Englishmen or Europeans.
Do we actually have a PLAN to indigenize ourselves following the colonial interruption?
Or have we decided to become black Englishmen permanently?
PLEASE, TELL ME NO.
We must have a plan to have a national language that is AFRICAN.
I hear the AU is considering making KiSwahili the African lingua franca.
If so, GOOD.
What we CANNOT do is become permanent Europeans.
We can even decide here in Nigeria to pick ONE SMALL TRIBE'S LANGUAGE, like say the Berom people or Urhobo, and make it our national language.
But we cannot be a nation with ENGLISH as our national language forever.
Abi dem swear for us? |

Las las you'll come to the realization that you're trying to go back in time. Move on, the past is gone. The number of people that speaks English will continue to increase, French might decline, i don't care, never liked French. Eventually, the whole of Africa will be speaking English Reflect7: Do you think if China was divided into 55 countries, each country speaking a European language as its lingua Franca, and influenced by colonial powers, that the land known as China would be anywhere near as powerful, prosperous, and United as it is today?
They were also multi ethnic and multi lingual till Mandarin was imposed as the national language.
MANDARIN, not French or English or German.
WHY CAN’T YOU FCKING SLAVES REASON LIKE THE CHINESE?
Stand up and be proud Africans and stop being a fcking embarrassment to the world. |

You're focusing on the wrong priorities. What you're focusing on will not improve the standard of living of Nigerians or Africans Reflect7: What a stupid, myopic way to think.
If you want to copy the west, do so in reasonable things, such as by thinking long term about your succeeding generation and offspring, and plan today with an eye on the future that you may not be here to witness.
That’s how you copy them. Not by bleaching your faces, speaking their accents however fake, and looking to speak their language permanently. |

25% in Abuja is a must! Double or invalid nomination for Shettima is a sure banker, Guinean passport. Rigged results. You narrow the petition to suit your narrative adioolayi: It's crystal clear...
These Judges have nothing to hide...
It's beyond Emotions and Sentiments..
Sane Nigerians know that INEC messup the electioneering processes as they failed to keep to their own rules... especially on transmission of presidential election results to IREV in real time as promised by them.
The questions now bothers on if petitioners have been able to convince the Judges that these lapses from INEC is so significant that it has cost their clients heavily and it's the reason their clients (Atiku and or Obi) lose the election.
Well, from what I read during trials...I don't think the petitioners have been able to convince me, not to talk about the Judges, that the failure of INEC to transmit elections to IREV in real time affects their victory.
Tinubu wins this. Not about sentiments or emotions |

Why are you barking? You cannot solve unity within Nigeria after 62 yrs of independence but wanna unite Africa. That thing you're taking might land you in trouble. Stop taking substances Reflect7: Historical illiterate. We had huge empires in addition to smaller kingdoms. The Mali empire covered 3/4 of West Africa and was among the most prosperous nations on Earth for 500 years. Zero hunger. Zero crime. And they did not speak English or French. They spoke the Mande language.
What a STUPID line of reasoning.
Has your being supposedly disunited prevented you all from speaking English as your lingua Franca?
So why should it prevent you from speaking an uncontroversial language like Urhobo or Berom, if such were selected as the national language?
It is YOU living in an alternate universe in addition to being shameless and stupid to think that just because your land was invaded by thieves and mass murderers who burned down your cities and looted your treasures, you must now speak THEIR language as your OFFICIAL language permanently.
That you even consider that reasonable shows you and most Nigerians are thoroughly brainwashed, sick in the head, thoughtless and stupid as rocks.
Like I said, the AFRICAN UNION has in its CHARTER that an African lingua Franca will emerge.
THANK GOODNESS THAT DECISION WAS NOT LEFT TO NIGERIAN SLAVES LIKE YOU. |
Family › Re: My Fiancee Doesn't Want To Court Marriage (registry) by DMerciful(m): 5:18pm On Sep 04, 2023 |
This is not the point. When something behaves abnormally, its better to seek understanding why that is, and this is what the Op is doing. Again, men have low urgency for marriage because they can technically marry anytime and still marry as young as 18yrs. Women generally do not have such privilege A good man will always be the price! pocohantas: I love that girl.
I hope other ladies can read and learn. The reason some men claim they don't want marriage or they have more to lose is because women carry it for head. Always fighting tooth and nail for (registry) marriage. So they sit back and allow you do all the work while acting like they did you a favour marrying you. Have you ever considered the fact that you would be the one needing to escape from an evil man in record time? Breaking head over a man's property even at the expense of your life.
This OP claims it favours women more but he is restless because he met a woman who has mastered her emotions. He wishes she were chasing him upandan for a legal wedding and flying to catch ring. He is bothered because he doesn't hold all the ACES.
Isn't this the kinda arrangement they claim to want online? #TEAMBABYMAMA? Why is OP worried and why the responses from his fellow men above?
Men want this marriage as much as you do if not more. If they hated marriage so much, they wouldn't be open to polygamy or rushing to marry another wife after a divorce or death of the first wife. No man keeps two (polygamy), even four of what he doesn't benefit from. They benefit heavily from marriage. In fact, after tasting marriage, they find it hard to stay alone again. Unlike women who would rather enjoy companionship without commitment.
Stop fighting these men over registry. Tell him you don't want. Let him be the one to create thread and beg you to sign those lines. Stop begging them to see the usefulness in marriage. Stop answering stupid NL questions like "what can you offer a man?" He has the option of remaining single or marrying a fellow man or new yam.
You are the prize. If he isn't giving you same energy, disembark. |

Whatever language they speak would still be borrowed so why focus on inconsequential things. We were living for thousands of years as small kingdoms, no wonder it was easy to colonised us. Again, you're avoiding the fact that we're not united as a country, infact, we have a higher tendency to breakup than unite behind a single language.
