Why do Yorubas was exaggerate things Tinubu do out of proportion? They're already throwing accolades without waiting to see if this will be different from what Buhari did interms of implementation and effectiveness in addressing insecurity.
Kobojunkie: See, this is how stewpid men end up in prison in that Nigeria. If we check now, that same man may have been cheating on that same woman, but the moment he finds that she has found herself her own side-dick, he goes into a stewpid rage over what is absolutely nothing.
How is it possible that you've not gotten it despite sleeping together before it became known?
RetroviralS: Be honest… what would you do if the person you love tested HIV positive today?
Would you still hold their hand or would you walk away?
A> I’d walk away, I’m not ready
B> I'd Stay, love is stronger than fear
C> I’d need time, it’s not easy
Every day, we see people face this exact moment —a heartbeat between love and fear. Let's be real, its not easy to make a decision when it involves matters of the heart.
Vote honestly in the comment section. Let’s start the kind of conversation that speaks reality.
These are long term goals but there's already massive insecurity. Where I stay in Canada, the counties have their own police department. Infact, no state prolice, its local govt police and federal police!
One local govt police will not go to another local govt to make arrest, they must request from the other local govt
ufotunang: ..the main solution is for the government to address and tackle.. poverty, hunger, hardship, rural, villages, communities underdevelopment , high inflation, high costs of living, high rate of unemployment for they say an idle mind is the devil's workshop and an hungry man is an angry man.. and insecurity, kidnapping, banditry and criminal activities will reduce and stop gradually . Even the police due to hardship, hunger, bad economy they can also be an accomplice to this criminal, bandits, terrorists inorder to get money from them to survive the hard economy and hunger, hardship and these things normally happens among some police and military..so it's better for government to address the poverty, hunger, hardship and bad economy
Well, APC states are over 2/3 besides if they're not ready, it will be wicked to stop people who are ready because they're not being forced to. If the 17 southern states agree, Wike will agree for Abuja so you just need 6 Northern states.
I can tell you that Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kogi and Niger will agree because the govs will do what Tinubu tells them
teepain: Okay, I get your perspectives now. And talking about the rubber-stamp national assembly (as you put it) it is not that easy when it comes to a constitutional amendment. For it, to become law 2/3rd of the states house of assemblies have to agree to it. That is where the conundrum is and there is need for tact to convince the northern states on the need to support state policing. Otherwise, it cannot be forced.
These are the facts of the matter that we have to live with. No matter how strongly we believe in certain principles, constitutional democracy in a multi-ethnic society like ours, can slow down things.
I mean the southern govs need to be more forceful. When you say advocacy, it means trying to convince others to join. They don't need to convince anybody because the president said those that are willing should start. He just needs to instruct his rubberstamp assembly to pass it immediately
teepain: I believe that this is not an "excuse". I guess that the Southern Governors, decided to collectively voice their support for state police, perhaps, to let it be on record that they are not the one holding it back. And this can serve as a wake up call for southern lawmakers to push harder for the constitutional amendment that is required at the national bill before state police can become operational.
Security is the primary responsibility of government. They should reduce capital projects by 40% and use the money to fund the state police
ufotunang: . and these states are still owing some of their government workers some arrears of salaries and their pensioners pension .so is it police they will not owe
I understand what Tinubu said about it being optional but this is Southern Governors forum so whats the excuse?
teepain: I guess they are advocating it to some Northern governors. I think it was the complaints from some Northern states that stalled it because they spoke about their potential inability to fund state police in some of their states. And I think that explains why Tinubu recently asked that the lawmakers should modify the constitution such that any state that wanted state police could go ahead with having one.
Lagos State, Rivers State, Ogun State, Delta State, Akwa-Ibom State, Abuja...can't these states fund state police? What happenes to the personnel and equipment currently in each state for a start?
ufotunang: .. where will they get money to fund the state police... money to pay their salaries, allowances monthly, buy AK-47 rifles, weapons and ammunition for the state police, buy patrol vehicles, police uniforms, build police station for state police .. these are governors that are still owing some of their government workers, civil servants arrears of salaries and also owing pensions ..so a lot of financial burden on the governors..so where will they get money to maintain and take care of the state police and pay them
Whether you produce locally or not, intentional loss of revenue is subsidy
benardtotti: I ask again are you importing the petrol or producing it locally? Cos don't understand why you keep trying to tell us petrol is 1600 according to international price when the crux of the matter is the current bulk over 60 percent of your fuel is produced locally .
Its a simple logic oga. Petrol is sold at N1600 at the international market, Nigerians are buying at N800+, someone is paying subsidy and its definitely fg.
Lets not eat yams as if they contain bones
benardtotti: Oga , the report said nnpc paid subsidy claims , you don't pay subsidy claims for something you produce and give another partner to process for you sir, so according to your logic who exactly did nnpc pay the claims to cos we all know they are no longer paying fuel marketers d they couldn't have paid the claims to dangote cos he is already getting crude oil and pays for it in naira .
If you produce rice let's say 1000 bags and decide you will export 500 bags in dollars and sell the rest 500 bags in naira to the local market at discounted offer how then will you loose?
Cos both ways you are getting paid all you need is to balance the books , why will you now pay subsidy ?
If the fg has opportunity to sell crude at international price but decides to sell low to Dangote so that Dangote sell petrol for half the international price to Nigerians, is that not subsidy?
If a farmer sells rice to his neighbors for half the price, even if he is the one producing the rice, he is paying subsidy in form of lost revenue
benardtotti: Nigeria is not importing fuel , except you are claiming dangote should stert charging international rate for petrol ? Also don't forget that government is not paying private marketers to import anymore, reason they wanted to impose 15% duty on fuel imports to discourage it.
It's simple logic ,if indeed nigeria is paying subsidy you think dangote won't cry out ?
I said the same thing and thats why Tinubu keeps borrowing.
Petrol in the international market is $1, so who pays the difference? Definitely Tinubu
FarahAideed: It was never removed , I raised an alarm here then ,it was removed for just a month or so by the time the devaluation hit they started paying it quietly
Nigeria is paying subsidy. How much is petrol in the international market? About $1, now convert to naira.
Who pays the difference?
benardtotti: Nigeria was already owing subsidy claims to nnpc , I believe this are just settlement for past claims , same way nigeria is owing gencos 4 trillion naira subsidy for electricity.
Without subsidy, petrol will be N1500. Look at the cost of petrol in the international market and you'll know the Tinubu govt has been lying since 2023
ebukal67x: We still dey pay subsidy despite say we don remove am?
The bombing will greatly degrade them while Nigerian army funish them off.
Stop giving excuse, we cannot allow our cowardice to prevent us from doing nothing
DeLaRue: The idea of a foreign country bombing Nigeria without being invited is surely the ultimate humiliation.
If USA does it today, Russia will do it in the future if it thinks its interest is being undermined in Nigeria.
After Russia, may be in the future South Africa will bomb Lagos if it feels MTN is being overtaxed, or perhaps Egypt will come in, bomb Southern Nigeria because it believes Muslims in Northern Nigeria are being disadvantaged economically.
Ofcourse the average Nigerian can't see beyond his nose. Jubilating at the prospect of, and clamouring for an uninvited foreign country to bomb your country encapsulates the short-sightedness of many black people. They lack the depth to think long term.
If Mr Trump wants to assist Nigeria, he should help the country with satellite and advanced mobile technology and face recognition intelligence, help the country put structures in place to reduce leaks, and stand with Nigeria in that exercise for the long term.
Anyway even bombing will not eradicate the problem. From Kwara state to Sokoto, to Jigawa, Bornu, Adamawa, to Kogi, that's an area that is bigger than the United Kingdom. How many places can they bomb when it's not like the terrorists are all gathered in a few places. How come America did not defeat the terrorists in Afghanistan despite all the bombs the used in that cover over more than 10 years?
So the Nigerian military will sit idle and allow them relocate?
Does it mean if the US comes to intervene, our military go on holiday?
motymop: If America suddenly decides to bomb bandits, the result won’t be what people expect. Bandits aren’t like military bases or stationary equipment, they’re mobile. They move in small units, relocate quickly and disappear the moment they sense danger.
So even if the US. hits a camp, destroys weapons, or wipes out a food depot, the fighters will simply relocate. They’ll melt into nearby communities or shift their operations to safer zones. Bombing them doesn’t automatically end the threat, it just pushes it somewhere else.
The real danger is displacement. Instead of eliminating the problem, you risk scattering these groups into new regions, especially places that aren’t prepared for that kind of pressure. A massive external military strike could unintentionally spread the threat into more parts of the country, creating new conflicts instead of ending the old one.
This is why counter-insurgency is complex. Heavy airstrikes don’t solve everything, they can create powerful shockwaves that reshape the conflict in ways that are dangerous for everyone.
He wasn't mute during Buhari's tenure infact he left Buhari who has been his ally for over a decade and started criticizing Buhari.
There is no Northerner that criticized Buhari as much as Buba Galadima. Mention one?
Eminent2025: This man that is now being vocal was mute during Buhari's terrible Era. The politics of tribalism and religion is what made this country like this. Despite the rate Johnathan Build schools,Roads and other infrastructure in the North and abondon the South including his state, he was rigged out for Not being a Northerner and a Muslim.
This one now suddenly found his voice because a Southerner is there
This is in preparation for 2027 so that they could fool some stupid Southerners to support another Northerner probably Atiku
I can only take this people serious when all of them support another Southerner for 2027
Loooool....why have you been hiding when they've been kidnapping students and closing schools?
I told you Tinubu will fail irreversibly and he has
LegendHero: Nigerian soldier has been killed in Aba town, Abia State, a day after the sentencing of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment for terrorism, SaharaReporters has gathered.
The soldier, a Lance Corporal, identified as David was killed last Friday, SaharaReporters learnt.
According to military sources, David was attacked at his father’s house at Ngwa Road, Aba around 2pm.
“He was on pass, so he decided to visit his relatives in Aba. However, He was killed, a day after the life sentence given to Nnamdi Kanu,” one of the top sources said.
“Other soldiers in the area should be at alert and always be in mufti when not in group.”
Another source added, “Yes, it’s true, he was of 20NA. One LCpl David who was on sick leave. Some unknown gunmen went to his father’s house at Ngwa Road, Aba, Abia State and murdered him.
“To our personnel, please if you are on pass, be vigilant. Do not sleep carelessly or move around unnecessarily. Stay alert at all times because you don’t know who may be coming after you. Especially those traveling to the East for pass, remain cautious and do not trust your village people completely as a soldier. Your safety must always come first. Stay sharp and stay alive.”
The Federal High Court in Abuja had last Thursday convicted Kanu on all seven counts preferred against him by the Nigerian government and subsequently sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The judgment, delivered by Justice James Omotosho, has triggered widespread condemnation across the South East region and beyond.
Insecurity has heightened in the South-East part of the country with frequent attacks by armed persons in recent times.
The gunmen have carried out a series of abductions, collected huge ransoms and in some occasions killed their victims.
Aside from government officials and facilities, the military and officials of other security agencies have been targets of attacks by the gunmen in the South-East.
The Nigerian government has accused pro-Biafra group, IPOB headed by Kanu of being responsible for the deadly attacks in the region.
But the group has repeatedly denied its involvement in the attacks.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that a former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, called for calm and responsible engagement on the conviction and life imprisonment of Kanu.
Chidoka made the appeal in a statement posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, titled “On the Conviction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu: A Call for Calm, Responsibility, and a Path to Peace…1.”
“I waited to read and reflect on the judgment before making this statement. Moments like this demand calm thinking and careful consideration,” the former minister had said.
“The conviction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a moment of deep emotion for many in the Southeast and across the country.”
He urged youths, IPOB sympathisers and concerned citizens to exercise restraint and avoid actions capable of escalating an already tense atmosphere.
According to him, “Violence will not advance our collective cause; it will only multiply our losses. I ask you to trust that pathways to resolution will be fully explored.”
Kobojunkie: . Here's hoping you don't lose the pregnancy lottery, as some women out there did. If your looks are important to you, maybe pay a surrogate to birth your kids for you.
Igbos say they want out! Pharoah, let my people go!
Biodun556: Bokoharam, banditry, herdsmen killings are all cultural failure of Northern Nigeria. Their politicians and elites are not ready for the solutions. Nigerian army failure on bokoharam and banditory are due high level collaborations between the terrorists and the leaders in the North. As long as the attack is limited to the North, let them face it till they are ready to solve it.
In Nnamdi Kanu's case, he trespassed by calling his members to attack a South West governor and burn down the state properties. Over 1 trillion naira worth of properties were destroyed in Lagos due to Nnamdi Kanu's incitement to its followers. Till today, ShopRite has not recovered, and it is shutting down nation wide.
If Nnamdi Kanu had limited it's terrorism to the East, he would have been tried their and recieved lesser punishment.
