HealthJOHESU Begs FG For Payment Of Two Months’ Salary by docadams(op): 6:20pm On Jun 13, 2018
June 13, 2018
The Joint Health Sector Unions have appealed to the Federal Government to pay its members April and May, 2018 salaries in line with their agreement to suspend their strike.

Mr Achimugu Isaiah, the branch Chairman, Federal Medical Centre (FMC Keffi), Nasarawa State, made the call on Wednesday while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria shortly after a congress meeting of the union in Keffi.

NAN recalls that JOHESU embarked on an indefinite nationwide industrial action on April 18 and resumed work on May 31.

Some of the demands made by the union included upward adjustment of salary scale, employment of additional health professionals, review of retirement age from 60 years to 65 years and implementation of court judgment.

JOHESU consists of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Medical and Health Workers Union (MHWUN) and Senior Staff Association of University Teaching Hospitals, among others.

Isaiah said that payment of two months salaries to the members of the union who embarked on strike to press home their demands would cushion their economic plight.

He added it would also boost members’ morale toward effective healthcare service delivery.

The union leader queried the selective nature of paying few members against the majority.“The strike was declared by the national body and the local chapter here only obeyed the directive of the national secretariat.

“Actually, we only called members of the union to brief them on the outcome of our meeting with the management of the centre after the suspension of the JOHESU strike by the national body of the union.

“After the suspension of the strike, we have been meeting with our management on the need for payment of April and May salaries to our members but the management told us that those that were paid are those that worked during the strike.

“Such beneficiaries like the management staff, drivers and their personal assistants, among others, were paid based on directive from the federal government.

“They said that anything that was done was based on directive and they can only take our message on the payment of our April/May salaries to the federal government for action.

“It is in view of this that we are pleading with the federal government to consider our presentation, the plight of workers by paying us our April/May salaries in the interest of peace,” he said.

Besides, Isaiah urged the federal government to do the needful by implementing the demands of the union so as to put the issues that led to the strike to an end.

The chairman also urged the members of the union to remain calm, be law abiding and continue with their normal duties.

Reacting, Dr Luka Samuel, the Acting Medical Director of the centre, confirmed that those that were paid are workers that worked during the strike.

Samuel listed the management staff, drivers, personal assistants, and those on sick bed, among others, as beneficiaries of the April/ May salary.

The acting medical director restated the commitment of the centre to continue to key into good health policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of the people for the overall development of the country.

Night clubs, bars, entertainment, food and all sorts of live until Shell said bye.

Every sector of Warri and Delta at large felt Shell then and it was good. Shell did a lot for that city I hope this news is true and I hope it goes well this time
I hope so too. Things are no longer at ease since Shell and Chevron departed.

Times like this is when the citizens should pay attention to their respective states with regard to the issue of revenue accruals and their utilization. This is the reason why I always abstain from judging other governors except mine on their performance.
What Delta state is owing as domestic and foreign debts is insane when compared to their utilization. A cursory look at the debt profile of the states on the DMO website, I found out that Kogi is stabke on external debt between 2015 and 2017 while the rest progressively increase their debt profile.

Excerpt

External debts of a few states
2015 vs 2017 ($)

Abia 41m vs101m

Delta 38m vs 58m

Adamawa 49m vs 94m

Anambra 60m vs 85m

Bauchi 85m vs 109m

Kogi 33m vs 33m

Cross river 136 vs 167

All the states are guilty of financial impropriety. Kogi may not even be the worse especially when IGR is factored into the equation. My humble submission.

How the intellectually lazy idiotic pigs of biafra identify one location without uniform and call it fg school feeding program.
His ignorance should not drive him to hypocrisy. I began to fear him from his contributions on a thread on Katsina wind power project. He posted inappropriate pictures just to justify his claim that the PMB FG peddled lies about the project. I almost believed him if not for his attempt to obscure some vital information in one of the pics he posted.

Despite the open disdain of some people for this program and their eternal wish for it to fail, God Almighty will ensure the executors succeed for the sake of the children.
An isolated setback cannot be used as a yardstick to judge the program in its entirety. That is naked hypocrisy.

What are you trying to say precisely? Who are the children and who my contemporaries?

I have other currently trending frontpage threads on Gbajabiamila and the incessant kidnapping all over Nigeria.

You people who see injustice and keep quiet will be judged accordingly.
I accused you of preying on the misfortune and innocence of children. I still stand by it. Intentions and implementation are different phases of at program. The implementation of the program could be better no doubt, but, of course, the responsibility for this rest on Nigerians like you. Now that you have taken it upon yourself to promote the downside of the scheme, one would wish to know efforts made by you, beyond looking for pics/video to justify your bias position, to assess the overall impact, shortcoming, and prospect of the program.
The government never denied that there were no challenges.
A program is adjudged to have abysmally failed if the recipient reject it entirely
The video you posted shows children eagerly accepting the 'mana' provided. Or do you by any stroke of luck in possession of pics/video showing protestation by the kids or parents/wards of this kids rejecting what is on offer.
Are you aware that the feeding program is supposed to be a partnership between the FG and the states. The states are meant to provide the environment for the program execution.
But then, every program in its infancy stage has its shortcomings. The responsibility the few privileged ones like you owe this kids and the society is to proffer solutions to the challenges and not to use them as polical tools to blackmail the govt.
