I am not proficient in applied economics so I will just read comments. But, then, I cant fail to notice the inclination towards de-emphasising our dependence on oil. This has been the wish of Nigerians all along. I am, therefore, nonplussed at the negatives it is generating. Maybe the 'wrong' person is implementing it. There is nothing so far to portray PMB as an insincere leader or somebody lacking in passion, vision, and intellect to anchor the race towards prosperity and economic stability. In the final analysis, can we survive without oil? I strongly believe we can, eveñ, right from this moment but, only, in an orbital plane devoid of gluttonous goats. |

If you have been following up on his actions and speeches, you will know that, he always tries to embarrass the President by releasing a mirage to the public, which when discarded or denied by the government, puts them in bad light. Nigeria has not been lucky with stable quality leadership since independence. Attempts at massive infrastructural development occurred only during Obj military regime and the first tenure of Shagari. That was the period when these pipelines were laid, refineries were built, major highways were constructed, many dams were built, steel companies established, etc etc. Subsequently, successive governments went on hibernation.
Today, we are worse off than we were 40years ago. The worst part is that not many understand the enormity of the decay and therefore the herculian task of rebuilding a battered country. |
