Thank you for this sensible post. How can a governor just dole out $100k of state funds like that? What about the other hundreds, if not thousands of rivers indigenes suffering from similar or worse life-threathening ailments? Is he gonna "settle" them individually? And fools are here congratulating for an impeachable action; if its true though.

Travel / Re: Nigerians And Fake Accent by DoffMan2: 8:15pm On Jun 29, 2013
apache77: I always hear people say Nigerians who travel abroad always come back with a fake accent, even if its only one month they spend in London or America. Is this true? Do Nigerians try to speak like foreigners?

What i think is that the biggest problem you face the minute you step into obodo oyinbo apart from the cold is your accent. Our accent is so thick foreigners cant make out head or tail what we are trying to say. So from immigration right to your next door neigbour, you struggle to communicate- nobody hears's your type of English. Our slow drawl is a big problem, not just to Americans or british but even to arabs and asians.

The quickest way to be heard is trying to speak like these people (americans or Brits) who cant hear you. Asians and arabs ahve grown up watching american movies and mingling with the Brits, so their ( Brits or American) type of accent is hearable and hence universal-much like the dollar is the globally accepted currency everywhere. So for you to be heard, you a naija boy or girl just stepping into America must speak like them.

Over time, if you stay there long enough, you start speaking like these people and substitute your Naija accent for theirs. Some people manage to retain their naiaja accent and use that when home only to switch to their americana accent when they go back.

Do you agree with me? or there is a more profound reason? Share your thoughts

It goes both ways. Last time I was in America I had lunch with this lady and her (black american) boyfriend, and I could hardly hear what he was saying!

Needless to say that he wasn't any clearer after 5 brandies.

They don't second guess. They snap any female celebrity sitting down or getting into a car with the hope that they get a hit. They then sell it to the highest Bidder. That's very hard hustling.

Good thing they don't do it in Nigeria because a lot of nigerian girls sit down like boys.

A cheating wife was caught in the act with her boyfriend by her husband and the people in the community took justice into their hands by forcing the cheating partners to have $ex in public while they watch. The husband who couldn't watch, walked away from the scene to throw away the properties of his cheating wife from his house.
This jungle justice happened in a community near Anambra State University.

He was a philanthropist, a generous man who feels the pain & sufferings of the less privileged ones in the society.
For more than five yeas He payed the fee for child delivery of pregnant women in OUR LADY OF LORDS HOSPITAL IHIALA. What he did for that shot time that he lived was so numerous to mantion, is it the widows that he builded houses for, is it the ones he was paying they school fees,or the bags of rise he shares every Christma,or the money He sprays every were he goes, or the Road that lead to his place that he tied & put street light.
He was so rich that no car that reigned that time that he doesn't have, He has fleet of cars numbering more than two hundred. He died in motor accident while coming home in December,He left behind His wife & three children.
May He find peace anywhere he is today.

Guy, Eze ego was into 419! I wouldn't call 419 diabolic though. My cousin practically lived with him. It appears that he was able to recycle his money into legitimate biz and was very "open handed", so was liked by many.

Please spare me these cocck and bull stories!
Eze Ego's wealth came from his Electronics business. He maintained a near monopoly in the importation of Electronic devices in Lagos from the late 80's to early 90's. A philanthropist to the core! He made primary school education free for pupils in Ihiala LGA when he was alive, he takes care of widows and aged people as well. He became popular because of his good deeds and was loved by many. His soul rest in peace.

Ezego was a 419'er and a biz man. I don't know which one came first. He was from Ihiala town. My useless cousin (also from ihiala) worked with him for a while. In the years before he died, he became a philanthropist. He died in what can be best described as a freak motor accident. Datz life!!

Celebrities / Re: An Open Letter To Dbanj By A Fan by DoffMan2: 11:48pm On Jun 18, 2013
Reyspin: Dear Oyebanjo, Dapo Daniel AKA D’Banj,

I am seated at a local restaurant here at the university town of Nsukka, in Enugu State, Nigeria, drinking a bottle of Fayrouz and listening to the sound of the generator, which is the only source of electricity around here.

I have watched your latest music video. I went through the rigour last night. It is the video of the song entitled “Don’t Tell Me Nonsense” and it was awfully disgusting, the song, I mean. Kaffy and the rest of the dancers didn’t disappoint in the video.

This is bad, I know, using awful and disgusting, in same sentence. But that is what I feel about what I saw. Brother, D’Banj, a lot has changed since you left your brother and hustle partner, Ajereh, Michael Collins AKA Don Jazzy. Truth. Your songs have been nothing but trash. I wonder if anyone has said anything nice to you since you started making songs outside Don Jazzy. If they have, it must have been for that singular hit song entitled ‘Oliver Twist.’ Kai! That song swept through Nigeria and the rest of the world. You would not believe that the ordinary child on the streets of Nsukka knows the lyrics of that song and the dance steps too.

In Nigeria, there are plenty factors that weigh us down. One is our inability to manage our weaknesses. I see you have been buying yourself expensive jeweleries. The other day, I saw on Olorisupergal’s blog that you wear a wristwatch worth my entire family and maybe inheritance. I commend your taste. You are a lucky and hardworking man. You deserve it, besides; ‘Oliver Twist’ made marks. It took the Nigerian music to a height that had never been seen in recent times. Its toping charts, downloads, Youtube views and itunes purchases are amongst the few things I can mention.

Dear, D’Banj, Don Jazzy may not be an ideal partner, I bet you, no one is an ideal partner! Perfect couples quarrel and make up. It is the joy of having such union. I believe misunderstanding is part of us, as humans. I will run to the zoo the day I see a union that agrees on almost everything.

Back to your music, I feel Don Jazzy was made to make good music with you. He may not only be your producer, but whatever input, from advice, to production, will go a long way. Besides, he has been miserable too, without you. I have seen his eyes in music videos. There is one he did with Tiwa Savage. Ah, Tiwa. She looked dazzling, while Don Jazzy looked wanting and dispirited. Tiwa may have a perfect voice but Don Jazzy has not been able to achieve what he did with you. The other boys, K-Switch, Wande Coal and the goody bag crooner, D’Prince are unfortunate learners. They must be stark illiterates to have taken sides when you guys parted. I understand their ignorance. But my concern here is, if you wish to stay relevant in the sight of Nigerians, making good music, and not caressing a stripper on stage on your birthday, then you have to make amends with Don Jazzy and understand that people argue because they are beneficial to themselves. Only dummies agree on everything.

I think tribalism had a lot to play in your split. It is a sad reality, if I am right. Tribalism will eventually destroy Nigeria. Our young people think they belong to a superior tribe and so make silly comments which sometimes bring about misconception and then crisis. I once had a boss, who is Igbo, who felt my tribe’s men were lazy, just because she came to my state and saw a job and was privileged to be a high ranking staff. I have had people who think those from the north should be gatekeepers and cobblers. Someone called me a militant once in Abuja, at the Sheraton, when he discovered I was from the Niger-Delta. I forgave his gross stupidity. I think we should drink a cup of water when ignorant people say rubbish about our personalities or flaws and relate it to tribe.

You are a great young man, D’Banj. Few people have attained the height you have. I am encouraged to pursue what I am currently pursuing because I know I will triumph. Your likes and that of 2Face Idibia, despite your weaknesses are heroes. And you must recall that Kanye West met you because he had heard good stuff from you. When nothing good manifests, he may be forced to give you a new job description at Good Music, which may be mopping of the floor of the studio. This evil will not befall you. If you believe it, type amen.

D’Banj, pride is the worst enemy of any man who wishes to last longer anywhere. A drop of arrogance may work, but pride is detrimental. You were called the ‘entertainer’ because you offered entertainment. Today, Inyanya, Kcee, Flavour, Wizkid and Davido are doing better. Imagine Burna-Boy, chai, that boy has some senses oh. His music, even when he is talking nonsense makes you want to sit and listen or dance to it, as the case may be. The only person that is yet to outshine you is my dearest sister, Tontolet Dike. That girl needs Jesus.

I have to go back to my drink. I paid for it and it is almost missing me. I enjoy your struggle or hustle, as you may choose to call it. I wish to hear something profound from you. While awaiting that miracle that only you can perform, I wish you the very best of life.

Your admirer,

Nwilo bura-Bari Vincent

Food / Re: Kinds Of Food I Need To Increase My Muscles... by DoffMan2: 4:08pm On Jun 14, 2013
Eat small meals every 2-3 hours, about six meals a day. About 40% Lean meat/fish, 40% complex carbs, 20% veg. Try and avoid anything white (bread, yam, garri etc, except after gym), instead eat sweet potatoes, brown rice, brown pasta, unripe plantains, brown bread etc. Avoid PALM OIL!! Reduce to minimum egg yoke (1 egg yoke per 7 egg whites). No more shaki, abodi etc., just extra lean meat.

Sleep 7-8 hours daily. Drink lots of water especially before and after meals.

Forget about fruits except before or after gym.

Must hit the gym!! Start light and increase steadily. No short cuts, its a long thing. Consistency.

Politics / Re: Spanish Police Smash Nigerian Prostitution Ring by DoffMan2: 7:58am On Jun 03, 2013
a1solution: One thing I noticed in Nigeria is that if you are not rich people regard you as nonentity that is why at times even the good ones will be so frustrated and turn to crime. God save The Fedferal Republic of Nigeria.

Poor people are nonentities everywhere in this world. Nobody notices the poor person waiting to take a bus (unless they are eye catchingly sexy), but everyone notices the person in posh car.

The problem with Nigeria is that there is no safety net. If you are poor, you are most likely to suffer all types of financial hardship. Hunger and debt will be your best friend. As you marry, have children and get older, your problems increase. The pride and confidence of your youth will slowly disappear and will be replaced by desolation and desperation as you watch your family being slowly ravaged by hunger and ill health. As a man, it's difficult to swagger around the house controlling your domain when it's not backed with money? Eventually, you lose respect (and probably control if your wife, who can be openly chanced in your presence) in your domain. In some cases, you watch your children, siblings, wife etc die of health problems.

Having being reduced to this low, how many people can resist the temptation of making money from crime?
