With each missile costing around 1.3 million dollars and about 12 missiles got fired, that's roughly 16 million dollars spent. About 2 billion naira. I suppose the money malami looted can effectively buy 152 of these tomahawk missiles. This is how corruption holds this country back |
The US won't do boots on the ground. That's a step too far for the American public |
Putindbutt:You wey go school, if the strikes were launched from ocean based platforms, why is the government also saying MQ-9 Reaper drones were used? It is right there in the article. Put on your brain once in a while. |
What is wrong with kukah? Why does he keep embarrassing himself so terribly? |
Outrage from who Mr Blogger? Your papa? Stop lying. |
The northern elite are planting seeds for the northern street urchins and almajiri to start widespread violence all over. That's why when I read the news of the bombings this morning around 3:25am, I quickly started packing a bag for myself and my kids and by first light, we were on our way to the park. I wanted to beat the time Muslims gather to pray in the afternoon. I grew up in Jos and I know Friday jumaat prayers is when they plan attacks. I didn't want to find out so I didn't f**k around. By 9:30am, I was already crossing the River Benue in Makurdi. That's when I heaved a sigh of relief. |
You can see why and how this war against insurgency has lasted this long. There is a systemic support for it. Support from people like Gumi. |
This is my issue with Trump. He loses focus easily. This bombing campaign will need to be sustained for the long term. It is an embarrassment that Nigeria has allowed this thing to fester for this long. |
“A total of 16 GPS-guided precision munitions were deployed using MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial platforms, successfully neutralising the targeted ISIS elements attempting to penetrate Nigeria from the Sahel corridor." This is what the Nigerian government said above. See lies. The US specifically mentioned the ship it used to conduct these strikes. Even down to the location of the ship and the name of the tomahawk missiles used. Hell, even the BBC, DW and Reuters have the same information on the ship and missiles used. What is wrong with our government? |
To even insinuate that America sought Nigeria's consent is insulting to the basic intelligence of every Nigerian. If Nigeria was aware of what the US intended to do, pictures of the strike and the resultant casualties will be flooding social media by now. This is a government of propaganda and they aren't even good at it because you need to be smart to a degree to pull effective propaganda off. Does this government look smart to you? With a minister of state for defense having just secondary school qualification and no military experience whatsoever? Come on. |
The US is obviously providing Nigeria with such intel because Nigeria doesn't have and has never bothered to invest in the technology that can keep tracking phones even in areas without telecom masts. The US has tech that can keep tracking your phone even if it is off so long as the battery remains inside. That's why they've forced phone companies to widely adopt irremovable batteries. |
Ultimately, the government shot itself in the foot. If Wike is to be believed, Kanu was offered up to 500 billion to drop his agitation but he refused. I don't know how true that is and if Wike even said anything of such so this shouldn't be given much credence. It is undeniable though that Kanu's stature has risen. |
The president of the United States doesn't need go ahead from the clown government representing a disgraced country. Is this government not even embarrassed? You are claiming you permitted another government to strike inside your territory? Why are these people so shameless? Nigeria couldn't even conduct ISR operations until the US came to do it. Not that we didn't have the money to buy the planes for that but a complete lack of willingness to do so. I know for a fact the airforce has a manned plane capable of doing ISRs since 2012. It was a properly driven plane so I can understand them not using it since the terrorists operating in Nigeria have powerful AA guns. But there are other platforms available. I think our military is just functionally lazy. |
Videos coming on line shows that the strikes hit an empty field. I don't know what to believe again because the tomahawk doesn't miss except it was given the wrong coordinates. Here's a nairaland link indicating that no one might have been killed in these attacks. https://www.nairaland.com/8587999/fresh-details-emerge-sokoto-residents |
You post such news without a video or a link so we can see and verify this ourselves? You can simply could have just made this up. |
What's wrong with this man? There is a thing called force projection. Presently, only the US can do that very well. Even Russia can't do a minute quarter of what the US can do. Pakistan that has terrorists right in its own borders? And can't eliminate them? Turkey is a joke. Presently, only the US is the country in the world that can conduct military operations in the Atlantic and the Pacific ocean at the same time for several months. That's mad power. The US military doctrine is to be able to fight two wars at once. They don't joke with that. |
Horus:Nigerians don't have a choice. We can't even keep our own house clean the US came to do it for us. It they want a base here, who will stop them? |
By this act alone God should heal her. |
Turji isn't affiliated with Isis. The dude may be an idiot but even he loves himself too much to associate with Isis. Besides Isis are radicals and they consider someone like Turji pure unwashed trash. Turji is in it for money and has no core beliefs. But if he is dead, I'll pop open another bottle. The way this thing is going, I'll be so drunk I may need to be helped home. May more bombs come. I'll drink with each strike. |
Praising God while a 40 years old bottle of wine is on the table. |
If I were anyone of these terrorists now, I'll quietly just leave the forests. After weeks of ISR runs, the US didn't even bother using drones. A destroyer in the eastern Atlantic fired off a few missiles and they hit target with precision. That's just a flex. The missile used, the BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missile travels at 550 mph and has a range of 1000 miles. So this means the US has studied the terrorists camp so well that it knows the timing of their activities. That they can send a cruise missile that spent over one hour in flight and still hits the terrorists shows that the US knew a good number of the terrorists will be in camp at that specific time. That's good intel work. No one in the Nigerian military or even the DSS may have known that those camps existed. Not that they'd have done anything if they did. More are still coming...

Funny thing is the ship that fired this missile didn't even bother coming anywhere close to Nigeria. Probably fired somewhere in the Mediterranean. Just input some coordinates, fire and forget. That's how accurate precision strikes can be. Those terrorists probably had their asses up and were slamming foreheads into the ground until a missile took a good look at their ass. |
RollinTNDA:You haven't heard of Smith wigglesworth I take it? Or Billy Graham for that matter? |
kkk888:In your addled brain it didn't occur to you that MAYBE the ambulance was on its way to go pick up an emergency case? |
jaszplus12:Why are you replying to that deeply hurt personality? |
Nothing more can be said |
The truth is Nigeria doesn't have the money to pay for a fully functional power sector with steady electricity. We are talking about billions of dollars here. If they do so, how will they loot? See how much the former AG looted? See how much they are saying Ngige misappropriated? Now multiply this by countless public servants across all arms of the government for decades. A report came out that since 1984, over 400 billion dollars of our common wealth has been looted. The black man is simply an embarrassment. |
orisa37:Haba! What is this? Is this the way you draw people to Jesus? |
People have the right to change their minds at any time. |
How this man turned from someone who does healings and miracles and is now a charlatan really befuddles me. People will travel for hours just to hear him preach. They will even sit under the sun because of how filled to the brim the church auditorium is. Now just look at him. |
The sad thing is that still after 42 years none of all the campaign promises there have been achieved. Every president comes in promising the same and yet we still remain where we are. |
