Senate Chief Whip and former Governor of Abia state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has appealed to Federal Government to allow the leader of the Indegenious People of Biafra ( IPOB) , Maazi Nnamdi Kanu, to return to Nigeria.

Kalu said negotiations of Kanu’s return would also include his dropping of the secessionist agenda of creating a new country called Biafra.

Kalu made the appeal on Tuesday morning while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)

He also raised concerns about journalists publishing unverified stories about him , adding that several media houses have continued to spread rumors and misquote his statements.

What they won't tell you is that a very large number of northern Nigerians men has been trooping into south eastern and coastal region....instead of renting a house the are seen setting up camps in thick bushes and forests in a time we are having widespread of nomadic arm militia killing and ravaging villages.

If they all had genuine intentions they should rent a house and do their business not seetting up camps in thick bushes and inviting their brothers where its oblivious no genuine business is happening there.

Primate Ayodele of the Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, Lagos has released a very controversial prophecy on what will unfold during the 2023 presidential election.

Ayodele on Sunday, September 6, declared that although Orji Uzor Kalu has the stamina to emerge the flagbearer for the southeast, he will not make it eventually.

The famous cleric said that some prominent persons in the southeast will rise and gang-up against the former Abia governor in his bid to become the next president of Nigeria.

He said: "The only man who could have fought for the Igbo people is Orji Uzor- Kalu. But the Igbo people will gang up against him. He has the stamina; that is if they will give it to the Igbo."

Going further, Ayodele said that he foresees the Igbos being rubbished in the 2023 election, Nigerian Tribune reports.

He warned the former Senate deputy president, Ike Ekweremadu not to run for the office of the vice president.

The cleric stated: "Ike Ekweremadu must not vie for the office of vice president. He should go for something else. The Igbo people are their problem. Except they are ready to turn things around, the Igbo man will not be president."

The former chief whip in the Senate told journalists in Umuahia, the state's capital, that if granted the opportunity to take over the presidential seat, he will build a 20th-century economy for the country.

The senator said: “Yes, if you give me the presidency, why not, I will take. I am capable of doing the job.

Stressing his desire to not only return to the Senate, Kalu categorically said: "...if the people of Nigeria want me to be president, they will show the hand. I can do the job. I can build a 20th-century economy for our people.”

However, Kalu pointed out that not many persons are capable of doing the job and that for him, he is more preoccupied on developing his constituency.

Former national chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Senator Victor Umeh said for the sake of unity of Nigeria, the South East should produce the president of Nigeria come 2023.

He pointed that the zone should not be denied the opportunity on historical basis regarding the Nigerian civil war.

Umeh told reporters at the reopening of the Enugu airport that all the zones in the South have produced leadership of the country except the South East.


He said: “It is wrong for the other parts of the country that have provided leadership to vie for it now. For example the South-West had Obasanjo who served 8 years. Their son is also Vice President now. The South-South have produced the president through Jonathan.

“South East is the remaining part of Southern Nigeria yet to take its slot. So on that basis we thank the president for the work he had done on the Enugu Airport and other infrastructures in the South East – roads and second Niger Bridge. But none is more important than closing the gap by making the South East produce the best president for Nigeria in 2023. Let’s not play politics with that.

“Somebody had told me that the APC is weak in the South-East. And I asked the person what was the strength of the PDP in South-West in 1999 when Obasanjo became the president. The PDP had no councilor in the whole of Southwest. Alliance for Democracy had everything in the Southwest. But due to the exigency to accommodate the Southwest in the presidency, Obasanjo was elected even though he lost in his polling unit in his local government.”

He posited that the situation in the Southeast now is better than then in the Southwest.

He said: “How much more now that the APC is controlling a state in the Southeast, in Imo. And they have others elected as senators and House of Representative members. That argument is no longer tenable.

“They need to make it a policy that the Southeast should provide the leadership of Nigeria in 2023. It is not that we will die if don’t produce the president of Nigeria in 2023. But it is for the country to be truly united. What goes around should come around.

“And we have intellectuals, technocrats and the best people that can provide quality leadership to Nigeria if given the opportunity. So all parts of Nigeria should support the Southeast to produce the president in 2023. Across all the political parties, let there be no contest. The way they did in 1999 where Alliance for Democracy and APP produced Olu Falae and PDP produced Obasanjo. You can see that in 1999 the Southwest were the only people that contested for the presidency in Nigeria. So this is not a new thing. It’s been there. We have antecedents.


“The Southeast has capable people in abundance to lead Nigeria. The need to concede the presidency to the Southeast unassailable at this point and when you are looking for such a material, we have them in abundance.”
