maureenihasee: Edo Gov'ship 2020; The process has been hijacked, I don't think I’ll get justice because of Oshiomhole- Godwin Obaseki https://www.theonlineparrots.com/2020/06/edo-govship-2020-process-has-been.html Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki who was the last among the 6 candidates to pass-through the screening process at the All Progressive Congress(APC ) National Secretariat, has shown his disappointment with the screening committee. It was earlier reported by the Edo State government, through its official website that APC has failed to screen Governor Obaseki , shortly after that information, photos of the governor being screened surfaced online . However , after the screening , Governor Obaseki said ;
I have gone through the screening process, and given them all my credentials that’s needed ,including the the controversial certificate from the University of Ibadan, and I have been asked to wait for the outcome . The question was no longer whether my credentials were authentic or not. From the moment the screening committee started to ask me why I issued a gazette to prevent the party from conducting direct primaries , I laughed and then knew the process has been hijacked. How has my approach to governing my state become part of the screening process?” he last time I came here , I warned and asked Oshiomhole to recuse himself from the process for the sake of peace and justice. But as a party man , I had to go through screening like everybody else . If he thinks he can be the judge and jury in this matter in this matter , we shall see from the outcome.” SOURCE; https://www.theonlineparrots.com/ |

HappyNigerian: The Edo State Government has reiterated that all political parties in the state must obey the regulations spelt out in its gazette, aimed at curtailing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), in the conduct of their primary elections ahead of the September gubernatorial election in the state.
The Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, made the call while receiving his Bayelsa State counterpart, Sen. Lawrence Ehwujakpo, who is in the state for his party, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ward congresses.
Shaibu, who commended the PDP for following the guidelines in the gazette, urged all other political parties to follow suit as the regulations will help in curtailing the spread of COVID-19 and keep Edo people safe.
"We got a letter from your party, the PDP, requesting to make use of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium for its primary election. Governor Godwin Obaseki approved the request because the party obeyed the rules and regulations set by the Edo State Government.
"I therefore use this opportunity to tell other political parties to obey the gazette in the state, which is now a law. Just as you have obeyed, we are asking and calling on other political parties to obey the law. Any political party that disobeys the law will not hold its primary election in the state as the gazette must be respected.”
He continued: "The life of Edo people is more important than the political ambition of any politician or wishes of political parties. We need to be alive to play politics; we need to live to vote and be voted for in the election. The rules to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the gazette must be strictly followed to keep Edo people safe at this period.”
Shaibu commended the Bayelsa State Government for the unity, progress and development the people are enjoying, noting that the Governor Godwin Obaseki led-state government is also ardently pursuing the development and progress of the state.
“Development does not have a political party, neither does progress. But parties exist to act as vehicles to actualize the wishes of the people in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We would fight for the development and progress of Edo State. No element or person will stop our progress because Edo people come first in the agenda of this administration. We will stand against anything that will stop progress and development in the state," he added.
The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Ehwujakpo commended the developmental strides of the Obaseki-led administration, assuring of his state’s continued support for the progress in Edo State.
"We associate ourselves with progress and development. Your administration is fighting to ensure that the development of the state continues, which is commendable,” he added.

damilola4162: Leader of the Idegenous People of Biafra(IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, said in a broadcast on Monday 8th of June, that he is not fighting any tribe.
According to him, he is only fighting against persecution and killing of people from any ethnic group in Nigeria.
Although he is fighting for the libration of his people, he would not close his eyes and allow one tribe to be killing another, adding that his never fighting any tribe but freedom for Biafria.
In his words: “I am against the slaughtering of Christians from Southern Zaria. I am against the persecution and killing of people from any ethnic group in Nigeria. That is what we are against.
“We must stand-up to condemn evil and speak at all-time truth. That is why I revered the legendary musician Fela Kuti because he spoke the truth.”
He said that people should be allowed to decide whether to belong to Nigeria or not, adding that it would be unfair to lob people together against their wish.
“Allow the people to decide where they want to belong. After all, Alaska is nearer Canada but they decided to be in the United States.” source: https://insidenaija.com.ng/2020/06/09/biafra-i-am-not-fighting-any-tribe-but-freedom-for-my-people-says-nnamdi-kanu/ |

sarrki: The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki and five others aspirants seeking the ticket of the party to submit their original certificates to avoid Bayelsa’s experience.
The six aspirants who have bought, completed and submitted the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms are Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, governor Godwin Obaseki, Hon. Dr. Pius Odubu, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi, Hon. Osaro Obazee and Hon. Matthew Aigbuhuenze Iduoriyekemwen.
The party has slated June 22, 2020 for primary election to elect the Pparty’s Edo state governorship candidate.
In a statement signed by its national publicity secretary, Malls Lanre Issa-Onilu, Friday in Abuja, APC said the various submissions will be displayed at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja and in Benin City, the Edo State capital from Monday 8th to Tuesday 9th June, 2020 for claims and objections.
“In our bid to ensure due diligence and transparency in the screening exercise and learning from our recent shocking experiences, we are determined to avoid any lapses in the process. Therefore, we are making the submitted information and documents of the governorship aspirants available to our party members and the public for verification of claims and to support the screening panel with information or any objection to the claims contained in the submission by the aspirants.
“We are inviting party members and indeed members of the public to assist the screening committee by scrutinizing the information, credentials and documents provided by the governorship aspirants and availing the Screening Committee of counter and correct information, if applicable.
“Recall that in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines, APC had earlier released its time table and schedule of activities for the conduct of the 2020 Governorship Primary Elections in Edo States.
“Accordingly, sales of nomination and expression of interest forms began at the APC National Secretariat from Wednesday 20th May to Tuesday 2nd June, 2020.
“The last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents was Wednesday 3rd June, 2020.
“As earlier stated, publication of claims and objections will be from Monday 8th to Tuesday 9th June, 2020.
Screening of aspirants has been slated for Wednesday 10th to Thursday 11th June, 2020.
“This will be followed by Screening Appeal which will hold on Friday 12th June, 2020.
“The Primary Election will hold on Monday 22nd June, 2020, while Election Appeal has been slated for Wednesday 24th June, 2020.”
